I have never been to alberta but have decided that this should be the year! I am looking for a mule deer archery hunt. I really want to hunt one of those canola bucks. I am looking for reasonable guide that knows their stuff. I really don't care about accomidations etc etc just a solid hunt. Any experience or suggestions on outfitters would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Apr-03-12 AT 08:51AM (MST)[p]Give Graham brigden a call. You can google him. I did quite a bit of research at some point and that's who I will go with when I finally bite the bullet.

Graham does a good job, but he's in SE Alberta and those canola field bucks are mostly up in the Peace River Country. Two of the best up there are Scott Taylor (Bear Paw Outfitters) and Mike Ukrainetz (Mike's Outfitting). Check their websites to see some studs.

Absolutely Agree with both posts. Hunted with Graham last year and had a 200"+ at 15 yards. Lots of 160-175" bucks to sneak up on. Hope/pray for consistent wind (10-15mph)and warm days during Sept....a recipe for a dead SE mule deer buck!! Mike is no joke either...He's been at it for a very long time (for a young guy). BearPaw's record and bookings say it all...he has no openings for 3 years (or something crazy like that). Graham is less $, and both zones produces 180" bow bucks each year.

Do yourself a favor and check out Alberta River Valley Outfitters and Lee McNary. I hunted with him in 2007 and want to go back badly! Just look through the photo galleries. I can attest first hand huge deer roam the prairie up there.

I just saw Lee featured guiding a bow hunt on tv on Outfitters Rating hunt show.
