I would like to hunt mulies next winter on a Mexican-Sonora ranch that is managed for large deer but on a do it yourself basis w/o outfitters or guides. I expect to pay well but want to keep the individual hunt part. I have no clue how to look for this type hunt. THANKS

WOW make sure you check out the mexico monster mule deer on the Farley adventure mexico mule deer gallery. I really love the wide 23" 4x3

Makes you wonder about the quality of the area. Looks like they have some pictures of some big bucks from 10 years ago. But the recent kills are not really shooters in Colorado 2nd choice areas. Lots of nice pictures from every angle however.

Not sure who you are azhuntin. If you give me your arizona address, I'll make sure to come by and say hello.

Don't have time to say more, I need to stop by the archery shop and pick up my new $ 1700.00 Hoyt Carbon Matrix bow for my AZ unit 9 archery elk hunt

thanks

Trying to figure out your post TR. So are we supposed to be impressed that you can spend $1700 on an archery setup, or that you drew a great tag, or both? Just curious. Back on the MX note, I talked to numerous outfitters at SCI Reno that said bookings for Sonora mule deer were down 40% last year. Is this trend continuing? Also, I've got a story coming out in Muley Crazy in May and in talking to Ryan Hatch he said hunter success was way down in MX last year on trophy bucks for those who did go. What's going on down there?

I should have not made that comment. Just wanted to slam azhuntin for his comment!

The main reason why mexico was so tough this year was because the rut was so late. Most of the hunters had come and gone, before the rut really took off. We had some great rains the very end of January and that got the rut going. We did manage to take 2 great bucks late, a 196 and 211.

I had 2 sheep hunters in March and we glassed up 2 bucks over 35" rutting hard!

As far as bookings being down 40%. What I have really seen is hunters tired of getting the Sonoran run around. For the price they pay, they expect the guides to be qualified with good equipment and a ranch that has not been pounded by a ton of hunters. I feel that the outfitters who try and do things right, are still doing ok. Yes, it's not the golden years. But the have you checked the value of your home/property lately.

Give me a call next January in Reno and we can talk.

You don't want to visit me. And I am very impressed you can afford a new $1700 bow. WOW, wish I had that kind of money. You sound like a punk.

Todd,
Aren't you a professional outfitter that earns an income from some of the people that visit this site? Why are you being so agressive on this thread? I was contemplating going to Mexico and after conducting research and reading this post, I would not book with your service.

TR you sound like a big headed jerk!! The start of this thread was a guy looking for a quality hunt and you turned it into a EGO trip!!! You dont sound like a real quality outfitter I would book with....

Yes, your correct. I should not have made the comment about the bucks on the other website. And yes, I should have not gotten so aggressive with azhuntin. I'm just a real aggresive guy who always fights back. Sorry Boys
