How can James Clapper definitively say there was no collusion between Trump and the Russians without having wire tapped Trump towers? And what other intell was gathered with these taps and who was it shared with?

Sooo connecting the dots....some intelligence agency, with DOJ approval, tapped the Trump campaign. They sought approval through the fisa courts and were denied... fact! So they just gave up... otay.

I am curious how this Tweet storm is going to help further the agenda? What happens when there is no evidence of Obama ordering this wire tapping? Obama was many, many things,being stupid wasn't one of them. Plausible deniability is the hall mark of the presidents office and Trump and Bannon will never produce enough evidence showing Obama ordered this.

So explain to me what there is to gain by this. Clapper is going to run circles around the White House, so is Comey, as is the NSA, the CIA, DIA and they all have their @sses covered by the laws.

If this tweeter storm is simply to deflect from the investigation into a Russian connection, then that plays right into the hands of Trump's opponents it that is does zero to quell the drip, drip, drip of the Trump/Russia connection and it uses up front page news on everything but the Trump agenda.

It is almost as if the President wants to sabotage his efforts in congress by forcing them to take up another issue unrelated to passing tax reform, repealing Obamacare and building a border wall.

So explain what he gains by Tweeting this at 3 am?

James Clapper. He Lied To Congress Why Would We Believe Him Today?

My colleague Scott Hounsell posted on the interview James Clapper gave today in which he claims that there was no FISA warrant issued covering Donald Trump, members of his campaign, or Trump?s properties. This may be true but there is more reason that not to suspect that Clapper may be somewhat less than truthful.

Back in March 2013, James Clapper was testifying before a Senate committee, under oath, about the scope of the NSA?s monitoring of US citizens. This is the exchange he had with Oregon Senator Ron Wyden:


Wyden: ?I hope we can do this in just a yes or no answer, because I know Sen. Feinstein wants to move on. Last summer, the NSA director (Keith Alexander) was at a conference and he was asked a question about the NSA surveillance of Americans. He replied, and I quote here, ?The story that we have millions, or hundreds of millions, of dossiers on people is completely false.? The reason I'm asking the question is, having served on the committee now for a dozens years, I don't really know what a dossier is in this context. So, what I wanted to see if you could give me a yes or no answer to the question: Does the NSA collect any type of data at all on millions, or hundreds of millions of Americans??

Clapper: ?No, sir.?

Wyden: ?It does not??

Clapper: ?Not wittingly. There are cases where they could inadvertently, perhaps, collect, but not wittingly.?

Unfortunately for Clapper, in June 2013 Edward Snowden?s purloined information was made public and it was revealed that James Clapper was not only Director of National Intelligence, he was also a shameless, conscienceless liar. Because the NSA was actually doing exactly what Wyden had asked him about.

Earlier today I posted on the NSA spying on US Congressmen for the White House. The ?hear-no-evil-see-no-evil? posture taken by the White House would not have been possible had it not been for the complicity of James Clapper.

How much damage to Clappers reputation will Trump's tweets do? How much potential damage to the Trump Presidency can his tweets cause? Clapper is out of government and getting a life long pension and unless proven he did something criminal is immune from being prosecuted for his actions.

Here is the thing whether there was a wire tap or not at this point is secondary. That a sitting president would do this using twitter and not naming any facts or sources is a bad sign for the times ahead. Trump has almost everything to lose and nearly nothing to gain in this deal. Unless they can find proof that President Obama ordered this and that trail leads back to Obama, this is going to be an ongoing self inflicted wound on the administration. Worse if there was a FISA warrant and a judge found probable cause to monitor communications between Russia and the Trump campaign what does that say to the American people.
