It sounded like full auto. I don't know, it could be bump stocks. I'm interested in the motive.

Reports say he had 10 rifles. 223 and 308. Ruger no. 1's and Winchester 88's ? I doubt it but RELH will have a reason they would have killed just as many people.

If there was a motive his brother says he has no idea what it would have been.

All of us. The report was he had a hunting license from Alaska. I guess from here on out we're all suspects in msnbc's eyes.

Not blaming the guns retard. blaming the azzhats that gave him access to this type of gun.

If he had 10 bolt or lever guns we'd be talking about a mass shooting with multiple deaths. or would he even had done it with those rifles knowing his success would be so much less impressive? as it is we now have 58 dead so far and 515 wounded. how many bodies less would it take to matter?

Gun deaths are a fact we have to live with. I like most americans accept this. but if reasonable concessions will minimize the number that's a price myself and most americans will pay. time and the body count will shove this down the NRA's throat.

This time it was an average white guy killing " normal " white people. this time it hit home . now we wait for the next blood bath and hope it's easier to ignore.

You need to slow down on the whiskey and go do some thing productive ! Playing on your computer all day every day isn't productive little man.

Now that I read it, my question seems kind of dumb. It seems like they could have said "hunter" instead of "licensed hunter" and dropped the qualifier. I save "licensed" for when I'm talking about a Journeyman, or Contractor. Most places all you need to be a licensed hunter is an address.

I'm productive enough I can afford to do whatever I want retard. why don't you put your paper hat back on and STFU before the fries get over cooked.

Do they sell planes designed to strike high rise buildings? if they did would the NRA lobby for their manufacturers? they do make guns designed to kill people. the ones mass shooters prefer 90% of the time. and the NRA works for their manufacturers.

Again, how many bodies is your man card worth to you? I really don't want to know do I ....

A total ban and confiscation of all guns might help there. is that what you want? I don't like it but if gang bangers won't stop shooting each other that's not a cause I'm willing to give up my guns for.

Now reducing gun deaths like last night by giving up the man card guns that's I can see. I suppose you can't see the difference.

" people wanted too much money to come shoot up my ammo for me " this is a problem we've all faced right? I hate it when I have all that ammo and I just need it gone.

I absolutely phukin love it. now I understand why we need Rambo guns, 100 round drums and mods to make them into machine guns. maybe I'll join the NRA again.

Ocho when is the deadline for criminals to turn in fully automatic weapons? I'm sure they are willing to give them up LMAO. So why should law abiding gun owners with proper licensing give them up if bad guys won't? You have got to be the biggest cheese D##K on this forum. Take another bong rip. Blame the object and NRA that'll solve it.

What will solve it?

How many people need to be killed in mass shootings to start a serious debate on both sides and then come to some solutions? At some point there will be enough people disgusted by the increasing number of dead and wounded that politicians will decide what is best for you and do you trust them to get it right?

The political firestorm will make even the NRA ineffective if there is not a serious attempt to have an adult discussion about trying to reduce the number of shootings and how lethal they are becoming.

I don't believe in giving up guns but there are some accessories out there that make these shooting more lethal, more gruesome and add to the body count. That fact is going to turn public opinion away form the world where the NRA lives.

News flash liberals. There are very good gun laws in place. Another news flash. Bleeding heart liberals don't want to enforce them. Restricted people are illegal drug users, illegals, sellers of illegal narcotics, people convicted of domestic violence, mentally disturbed azz racks. All are restricted from having any guns. Oh ya and convicted felons are restricted. I can tell you how many great guns cases are declined by the Feds in Utah every day ! Ya guns are to blame and we need more gun restrictions. Tog I have no idea how you even suck your own oxygen you are so stupid.

Banning so called "assault rifles" will not stop killers like the one in Vegas or radical religieous freaks. I can walk into a local pharmacy and purchase a certain item over the counter and mix it with another item I can get off Ebay and make one heck of a bomb.
A large truck into that crowd at 60mph would have about the same effect as that killer with his rifles.
If you want to slow down the normal everyday shootings in our large cities, there is a way to do it that will drop the homicide rate to the basement. Only problem is the liberals in our country will not support it.

It is the old saying. "Use a gun, go to prison" that was tried in areas and proved to be effective. If you use a firearm in the commission of committing a felony crime, you get a mandatory sentence of 5 years in prison just for having a gun in your possesion while committing a shooting, rape, robbery or other felony crime. If you get 4 years for the robbery, at the completion of that 4 years, you must serve the 5 years on top of the years for the robbery. No probation, or parole can be granted for those 5 years.
Needeless to say the liberals are against it for having to build more prisons, being to harsh on a poor criminal that had a bad childhood, and too many minorties are being sentence to prison.

CA. has it for a while and it was proving to be effective until the county District Attorneys found the loop hole in the law that our law makers left there.
A judge could not grant probation or lighter sentence then the five years, the prison parole board could not grant parole on the 5 years, but the D.A. could throw out the gun possesion part and just try the suspect for the felony he committed. They plea bargain the gun possesion charge away to avoid jury trials and the suspect would plead guilty to the robbery knowing he would probably get a lighter sentence and be able to get a early out on parole.

RELH you are exactly right. That is why we try to get these cases to the FEDS. Minimum mandatory sentencing. Restricted people committing felony crimes with guns get a ten year minimum sentence. But like you point out the liberals don't want to see full prisons and these poor picked on criminals locked up forever. Typical liberals they want to have their cake and eat it too.

I thought you were done talking to me retard? you made my day so keep your word.

Did I say a ban would fix it all ? it won't. because you goobers have put so many man cards out there any dipchit with a few hundred bucks can buy one . so the only logical thing to do is make sure we have more? dumbphuks.

At this point it looks like we have a 64 year old well off white guy with no criminal history . who are you going to blame if it turns out he bought these guns and whatever else he used legally?

What will be your argument this is acceptable and nobody should be alarmed? chit happens people die and you have the right to get rid of unwanted ammo you can't afford to hire shot up? is that it?

This may not have been avoidable I'll admit that. I will not accept that maybe 40 people would still be alive and maybe 300 or 400 less may be injured has the gun bill not expired in 2004. but again, who gives a FF right ? you didn't know them so no skin off your azz.

So... the fully automatic gun(s) he used are already illegal and have been for 30+ years and... it's also illegal to kill people but making more ##### illegal will solve the problem?

Just stop it already. Even if you made the platform and the parts illegal there will always be another country or another person who will have them or can make them.

I have an idea!! Why don't we ban drugs too? Oh wait we already did that, never mind we don't have a drug problem in America anymore since we banned them I forgot. My bad.

Nobody said these were full autos dipchit. it's more likely most if not all of them had alterations or accessories to make them automatic. probably legal accessories, you know, so you can dispose of that unwanted ammo. Ha!

It wasn't all bad was it? good for biz. the NRA will no doubt get their cut.

Elkass,

From me, the smartest guy in Montana, to you, the dumbest guy in Utah: Is it possible that there is an issue within our society that could be dealt with if we all sat down and said that these shootings happen too often with too many killed and wounded. Or is it that you live in such fear that discussing the issue robs you of your phony conservatism? Or is it that because the NRA says there is nothing that can even be talked about that you let ole Wayne think for you? Or maybe you just don't care?

I never said pass another law, confiscate guns or anything remotely like that. I said if the gun owners of America don't have an adult discussion and allow the NRA to be their only spokesman we are all going to lose. The same guys, like you, who say nothing can be done also oppose any public funding for mental health resources. I am beginning to think you like the body count and that you get some satisfaction from being in the minority who believe that mass killings are just the price of freedom. You would love Iraq and Syria. They get use bombs there as well as guns.

Reports now say he used several bump stocks, and all the guns were bought legally. he never broke the law until he pulled the trigger it seems. we equipped him with the right weapons and accessories to do the job. the laws in my state are exactly the same as NV.

Anyone remember this guy? he used to be a republican before the party got stump broke by the NRA. I don't know what a republican is anymore but I don't fit in and this guy certainly would not.

I actually think it's a good idea to get rid of those modifications to full auto. It seems wrong to allow them out there. I disagree with banning semi auto rifles though.

I don't have a problem with semi-autos. I own pistols and hunt chuckar with a Benelli.

I have a problem with semi-autos that were specifically designed to kill people being available to every terrorist and whack job who wants one. it can be what gives a weak minded coward the courage to be a star. a model 742 with a 4 round clip just doesn't give them the woody a man card does. if it did 90% of them wouldn't chose a man card .

I have a huge problem with magazines that hold over 10 rounds. in most cases when a shooter is rushed it while he's changing clips. nobody needs more than 10 rounds. make up for a small pee pee with a bigger lift kit if need be rather than longer magazines.

This is a debate the antis will win. only a matter time and body count. my only concern is how far they go past Rambo's chit when they do and if it will effect my sporting arms.

What was the original intent of the second amendment? Think of where those writers had just come from and gone thru. I can almost predict your answer.

And I can predict your stupid response to it. BECAUSE THEY HAD MUSKETS . can you prove they intended for crazy people to have assault weapons with 100 round drums and trigger cranks ? if not then we have a debate.

By the way, why can't I own grenade launchers, SAM's or even nukes? the founding fathers intended I be well armed correct? so WTF ? I want my nuke. why do you and the NRA get to draw the line ?

We have this VERY SAME debate after every mass murder. how long until the next one? a few months? we have a new record let's see if we can beat it. you won't give a FF.

If you can't tell me why I cannot possess a nuke to be a well armed militia member then you cannot well me why I can own a Rambo gun. they're both weapons, and the founding fathers did no say I couldn't own a nuke. so I want my phukin nuke and you can have your rambo gun. please explain yourself.

Sorry almost forgot about you NEMO. I agree we need to do something to help SOME of the mentally ill people out there. I can only speak for Utah because that is where I live and work. I deal with seriously mentally ill people every day I go to work. Most of these people are this way because of years of meth amphetamine and bath salt usage. Those people have made their own bed and as far as I am concerned no tax dollars should be spent to assist them. They made heir own bed sleep in it ! Now those people who have mental illness like our vets with ptsd, we should be spending what ever it takes to help and take care of those people. I am not saying I don't do anything to help the mentally ill homeless dope heads. I give my lunch away everyday to many of them. I am human and I feel for many of them but like I said they made their bed.

Here's my idea. Right away start legislation to ban certain assault rifles. Let's pick the ones to get rid of. My opinion is that we can do without AK 47s, SKS and the mini 30. Pretty much any semi auto 7.62x39 rifle. If we do it right, it can be a list of 13+ rifles. Some of them could be weapons we never could own to begin with so the list could be even bigger. The liberal people, especially the ones that don't know guns, will see this list and have a hard on. Little do they know all we did was stop people from purchasing junk guns that can't even shoot 6" at 100 yards. I think our gun culture will be better off as a result. I think we both would win, and just by the numbers, save lives. They at least could say we are willing to work together on it.

Nonuts, where did the founding fathers say I couldn't own weapons of mass destruction? is 59 deaed and 515 injured not mass destruction? I suppose that depends on who's azz got shot. not yours, so it's just another Sunday night in America.

Looks like the man card man had something more than a 10 round clip. who's proud ?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/first-look-guns-used-las-vegas-shooters-hotel-room-163623120.html

The idea of banning sales of cheap guns is a start. but what's to stop our trailer park patriots like we have here from crying they're being discriminated against because they're too poor to by an AR-15 or FN FAL ? and what did our gunman use the other night in Vegas? he wanted the good stuff. when you have a man card you want people to think there's nothing wrong with your Johnson . AK's are for posers.

So if we ban fully automatic weapons which I don't intend to own. There will still be back door dealers slinging them. Youtube will show you how to modify a semi-auto rifle into a fully auto rifle and now we hit another touchy subject if we remove that content because we're taking away someones 1st amendment right. Someone will always get there hands on a fully auto rifle and mass supplies of ammunition. We have a huge pill addiction and social media problem that is leading to these types of things if you wanna hear the truth. We have a huge depression problem. A huge mental health problem and a huge object blaming problem. Here's a solution teach kids in depth about firearms in school not some watered down PC BS. Teach kids how to budget in school and about finances. And teach History properly. Get people outdoors fishing, hunting, camping, ect. Social Media and perscription drugs are eroding humans that's the F###ing problem.

There is a mental health crisis in America if anyone wants to admit. Look just at the number of drugs prescribed and dispensed to treat mental health problems. Bringing more resources to bear would help some of these issues.

Also why worship at the altar of the NRA? They will lead gun owners down a bad path and by just letting them set the agenda will lead to the public turning completely against gun owners and the 2nd Amendment won't be of much help nor will the courts.

Nemont on bringing more resources are you calling for more drugs or more therapy. I'm all for programs to help people like outdoor type things because it's in my realm and way of life. I however am not in favor for more drugs and pharmicutical & doctors reaping rewards at people becoming addicted to their money making scheme. I myself do not worship the NRA or speak out about them I don't know where I stand with them because I have not put in the research to take my stand on them.

More therapy, more crisis intervention and more mental health resources for dealing with those on the edge or in crisis. Jails are not the place to dump the mentally ill and ER's are often lacking the proper providers to deal with mental health crisis management. Police officers are overwhelmed dealing with people have mental health issues, as are ER Doc and Nurses.

I don't think more prescriptions would do diddly squat about the issue. We are over medicated as it is right now IMO.

I know locally we are dealing with a wave of illegal drug issues and abuse of Prescription drugs and often the underlying drive is a mental health issue: ie untreated depression, bi polar, etc etc.

It is easy to say a junkie is just a failure but with the opioid and meth problems across the nation it should be obvious that it doesn't matter what class you are from, those issues affect everyone.

I also don't believe in the idea that we can prevent every shooting, that is letting the perfect be the enemy of the good but we shouldn't pretend that we don't have a society that is violent and getting worse. We should address it head on.

So... If we play devil's advocate and say we should go back to what the founders intended, we would all still only have muskets right? Bullshit and 440 is a complete retard. I guarantee he would ##### like he does when he's on his period if his guns were confiscated and he was handed a musket. Ignore him he's just wrong.

Now mental health on the other hand is something we absolutely should address although I haven't seen anything about the current mass shooter that suggests he had a mental health issue. The vast majority of them either do have a mental health issue or are working in the name of jihad. The left doesn't want to talk about Muslims so I doubt they're willing to talk much about any real mental health issues, it's always take away the guns.

We are most assuredly going to have to undergo more stringent screening to be able to purchase guns in the future. I'm fine with a mental health screening if need be to weed out potential shooters but what are the parameters and who gets to set them? How exactly do we sit down and talk about it when we are a nation of 300+ million people who can't agree on anything? I suppose we can leave it up to our elected officials to solve for us but that hasn't worked real well for most other issues.

Americans have to start by getting on the same page and acknowledging that banning shyt doesn't work. Marijuana is illegal and how's that working out for you? Mass killers will find a way to kill people if they want to, the left has to understand this fact. The argument would be in Europe to ban vehicles since they have been used in mass killings but common sense tells us that is not even a logical solution.

The other problem is the media. I'm actually watching the news as I type this and they are talking about Slidefire.com is where you go to learn how to make fully automatic weapons. They are literally helping other potential wackos learn how to do this. I get that they need ratings but this is just irresponsible journalism. For days we will see this story unfold in the news and the shooter is now famous which is attractive to other mentally unstable potential shooters.

Typical Californians with their heads up their azz.

Find where I ever said guns should be confiscated or illegal. I said, you dumbchit, that guns and mags like your shooter used should be illegal. the majority of americans agree with me. read the Heller decision, what we can have settled. what we can't have remains to be seen.

When it gets to the point echoing Gerald Ford and Reagan precisely gets you this kind of response you know you've found a place where retards gather. and the real republican ideology dies.

The only consolation is you will lose in the end.

Elkass,
Yeah I know, it is almost like I never said a single thing you say I did, oh wait I didn't say any of that. It you who keeps harping on things and then trying to put words in my mouth. It is sad really but I get it. You can't argue that the shooting are bad for gun owner because the NRA is celebrating in the back rooms so you have to do what Ole Wayne says and go on the attack. Why not think for yourself instead of being an NRA parrot?

Is that you just don't really care or that you get off on the body count? I don't think your Bishop would approve of that, at least on Sundays.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-03-17 AT 07:15 PM (MST)

2 main points stand out after 60+ replies.

1) Something needs to be done
2) There will always be guns

If guns were illegal but RPGs were, he would have used RPGs. If guns and RPGs were illegal, he would have crashed a plane, put an explosive in a big rig...something. But why?

Simple, just like our ISIS incidents and every incident that has happened this guy was batchit crazy! All mass killers and a percentage of murderers are friggin crazy! These are people with mental issues who have become lethally delusional which should bring us to the real point.

If 20% of the United States suffers from some form of mental illness what can the civil populace do to prevent those sufferers from access to firearms until they are deemed sane. All in a manner that does infringe on sane legal owners. If someone here is advocating that the mentally ill should own firearms, please speak on their behalf.

It seems so ridiculous considering we insist that "legal" fireworks have a Safe & Sane warning sticker. Maybe that should be the test, if you end up in the E.R. from using legal fireworks as a minor you are banned from gun ownership for life.

Really cannot fault the Gun Dealers they did their due diligence. The shooter like so many had never committed a crime, something just snapped justifying in his mind such evil acts were rational.

Personally I'm no fan of black guns with high cap clips, especially those with auto conversion mags. That being said I fully support those law abiding responsible folks that own them. After all strip all the bells and whistles off a black gun and what do you really have?

The only saving grace is that this guy was not trained well with this weaponry. If he had been well-trained or even a combat vet the body count would have been higher.

Fact is you could go to shorter clips. They did it in Cali and the world did not end. But ask yourself this question, if a motivated experienced shooter had access to 100 filled 5 clip mags how long would it take them to get out all 500 shots off with a..bolt-action? Yeah, not very long, huh?

When it comes to black guns things like high cap clips or perhaps special licensing with extensive reference application changes that are held in a database only accessible by FISA warrant could do the job. Maybe even a mandated revenue neutral training course via a federal program by a FFAM for on-sight psychological review too.

I do wholeheartedly agree with Nemont & Ocho, other than praying, some actual thing needs to be done, something has to change. We are stuck in a rut with way too many innocent people injured or dying.

Just spit-balling on doing things in order to protect law abiding citizens. Fact is most law abiding gun owners don't even a Rambo gun. Of those that do 98% seem to do so responsibly without committing a mass killing...or any killings.

Screw the NRA's politics on conversion set-ups to skirt the law, this is a real problem. It calls for progressive action which is exactly why the NRA political strings on the far right are always being yanked.

Hey NRA how's has the do-nothing approach exactly worked out since 1977?

I can mostly agree with this and I can even get behind the banning of modifications that simulate full automation if it makes people feel better. The underlying fact and the common denominator is the mental issue that every one of these shooters has. We don't know if this guy was ever diagnosed with a mental illness but FTW is right, it takes an insane person to do something like this. We must address this problem.

We can ban whatever we want but it won't work. It's only a matter of time before someone flies a drone over a crowd at an NFL game and drops either a homemade bomb or something of that nature that kills a number of people. Will we then ban drones? Will we ban bombs? The laws cannot stop the where there is a will there is a way mentality of someone who wants to kill.

I tend to think that the sad fact is that we will never find a solution to stop mass killings. They happen all over the world and no law will ever be able to stop it.

I guess god doesn't like new chitty country music anymore than I do. who knows. if I were superstitious I might say god was punishing white folk for voting Trump into office. makes as much sense as anything right?

Something to think about,

4 americans died in chit hole Lybia knowing the danger , years later republicans are still crying like babies and demanding someone ( Hillary ) answer for the tragedy. the longest congressional investigation was set into motion and came up empty. they seem most concerned over the loss of human life. beside themselves actually.

59 americans including women die and 515 are wounded in Vegas . the republicans say most unfortunate situation , but chit happens what are you going to do right ? we've tried nothing and it hasn't worked so STFU and deal with it . oh yeah, don't talk about guns or the NRA that's bad m'kay. the same concern for loss of life?

Who finds this reasonable ?

First off, my deepest sympathies to all the victims & their families. We always enjoy our trips to Vegas & that concert is something we would attend if there so this was sobering to us.

As far as this discussion goes, I will first say I own 0 "man" guns, don't attend gun shows and don't belong to the NRA. Basically I don't have a dog in the fight over the main targets of the anti gun crowd.

I have no solutions to the violence in this country but I think it is much bigger than what your gun looks like or how many rounds you can stuff in the clip. We have a major people problem and not so much an inadimate object problem. I believe this will end up being much deeper than a loner weirdo that went out in a blaze of glory. I'm all for sensible gun laws but doubt they change much in todays divided and angry world.

I would love to hear from 440 why he is soo appaled at people being murdered with "man" guns that arent his cup of tea but never says a word about the 10s of thousands people killed yearly on the highways from the thing he loves according to most here, alcohol? That would be an easy fix to save thousands of lives a year. Funny I couldn't find the thread you started to ban alcohol? Selective outrage?

81. "RE: Motive Discovered"

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:
• 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws.
• 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified.
• 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons – better known as gun violence.
• 3% are accidental discharge deaths.
So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation.
• 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
• 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
• 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
• 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)
So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.
Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.
Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals.
But what about other deaths each year?
• 40,000+ die from a drug overdose–THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
• 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths.
• 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide).
Now it gets good:
• 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital!
• 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................ Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple:
Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace.
Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs. So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed."

Gang bangers having it out in the ghetto isn't exactly the same thing as concert goers getting mowed down in Vegas or kids getting slaughtered in their school. but if that's what the NRA tells you to say go for it.

We have a people problem. and it's only going to get worse. FOX is beside themselves admitting they can't find anything to hate about this shooter, he's just an every day white guy who loved guns. how in the hell are you going to prevent someone like him doing what he did? you can't. so you try to minimize it by limiting his weapon options . there is no other option.

What if bringing gun regulations back doesn't save everyone? then it doesn't. seatbelts save lives, but they don't save every life.

There must be another way you can feel like a man. find it.

Figures lie and liars figure. Everyone of those items are statistically insignificant compared to the total U.S. population so that is a red herring the NRA uses in their propaganda to lure in the slow and dimwitted who believe that ownership of an AR or AK will allow them to go toe to toe with an organized military.

But further the issue isn't about what you all claim. Explain how these gizmo that allow conversion to full automatic fire even pertain to protecting yourself? The very first thing they teach in at the range in basic training is that automatic fire is usually a waste of ammo. Can you find any infantryman who always sets his weapon on full auto? If the military doesn't need that capability in almost every combat situation they encounter, why do civilians need to be able to spray rounds and you call it freedom?

The military has dedicated fully automatic weapons for infantry platoons to employ but they don't give every soldier or marine a full auto for a reason. Now explain how spraying and praying isn't a good strategy for the infantry and Marines but is required to keep tyranny away on the streets of America.

It all NRA multi level marketing that puts it out there that any reduction in the number of rounds you can get off is an assault on the 2nd Amendment. The slow and dimwitted eat up like a it was a Trump speech were he said on day 1 Obamacare would be repealed and replaced and both are about as truthful as the other.

I'm tellin you, the best thing for the right to do is nip it in the butt. If they were the first to come out with a proposed ban they would look a lot better than they do now. We can do without the garbage guns I mentioned earlier and still have what I want at least. Think about it, if they showed up at the capital with an idea before the liberals, that would put them in charge of change. I'm not talking a big change, just modest. A list of crappy guns to start with. They can show up with other items in their pocket as well. You don't want to use all of them, but if you use them wisely, the left thinks they win. Those items could be the full auto bump stocks/cranks, barrel lengths, AR or AK pistols and limiting colapseable stocks to 1 1/2", just enough to adjust the LOP. I feel it's reasonable because I don't want magazine limits or bullet buttons or rifles to look like what CA or other blue states have. Those are quite silly.

Magazine capacity limits are the single most important item in any legislation.

Hannity said it best the other night when he talked about how amazing he's be with a gun on FAUX, " when they drop the clip you have a chance " his exact words. and he's right, so do you want 10 rounds before your chance? 30 rounds ? 100 rounds ? myself I like 10 the best . it just seems better to me by 20 to 90 rounds.

How many more people would be alive in Vegas today if the shooter had 10 round clips? more for sure. how many more ? I don't know. how many does it take to matter ?

OCHO maybe if they would have picked up the F'ing phone when they called from benghazzi people wouldn't be so pissed that's the issue with benghazzi and then when they finally did pick up the phone they said oh well and tried to cover it all up. So your comparing watermelons to basketballs again I can see. Seems like they picked up the phone in vegas when sh!t hit the fan. So your comparison holds no weight.

Being selfish is the American way we're all guilty. it accounts for 90% of our problems.

I'm guilty myself, I accept global warming is real and I know we should be taking action . the republicant's put their heads up their azz and deny everything and to be honest about it it's a relief. I know I'm right but I can't change it so I did my part I biatched about it so I'm off the hook. so I can keep living large and making it worse, what are you going to do right ? that's honesty.

Same thing with the debt, you want tax cuts and run the debt up? I call bullchit , but if you're going to force me well hell I don't have any kids lets do this. I know I'm wrong but what are you going to do right? that's honesty.

On guns they're doing the same thing but I have nothing to gain because Rambo chit does not interest me in the least. and I know their scorched earth policy will drag me down with them in the end. if they were honest they'd admit it too.

Ocho I do my part and keep sh!t clean and recycle as much as I can. Pick up litter in the field as well. I don't mind alternative energy as well but make it affordable or I won't buy it. I don't get caught up into global warming because it was brought up by bought science for a political agenda with not enough time or evidence to support what it claims. And the climate naturally changes hence forth lake bonneville is dry. I do have a really good solution for these mass shootings and it's worked out really well for me and my family. I go hunting and fishing and avoid mass gatherings. And the NFL I'd like to thank them only for the fact they've turned me off as a fan, but I'm pissed at how they've disrespected vets, cops, the president, ect. So I go hunting even more now. They can get on twitter and tell fans bye but at the end of the day I used to help pay their bills. I don't go to these large gatherings and it's been working for me. Rambo guns I don't want one I don't need one they are not cost effective for me to shoot and I don't need to deal with the headache of licensing myself. Even better it keeps the govt. further out of my business. I don't go visit looney perscription writing doctors or psyciatrists either. So I don't have a pill problem. I deal with my problems and know that it'll all work out.

Here in the U.S. mass killing seem to have a common thread...assault weapons. We know why, we know how, and we also know that there is no real system in place to stop them.

Ban the full auto loopholes, trace full-auto kit owners for asset trace or recovery, and require a 30 day FFAM training course for legal licensed ownership.

Tomorrow I could load up on ARs, conversion kits, and outside of a small wait period on the ARs there would be nothing to stop me. Of course, I have no interest in that as I am a recreational hunter, not a wannabe mass killer.

There should a system in place where I can still legally attain the weapons. A system where I register up to be licensed owner, finish training, and upon verifying my license can purchase ARs with a 7 day wait.

We, more than most internet forums know exactly what bullets do, it's not pretty. Oddly enough I think there are many here like me that would never own a riot shotgun let alone an assault style gun. We do not want our rights to bolt action rifles and auto-loading shotguns infringed on.

So who speaks for us? Personally guys that are into man guns make me nervous and most of the ones I know do not hunt.

FTW,
I get what you're saying. I'd be stupid to argue that assault weapons don't kill mass numbers. I own 2 out of the 38 other rifles, pistols and shotguns. It's not to make me feel like a man or get myself closer to mass murder. I can't imagine even pointing a gun a someone. It's because I'm a gun enthusiast. I love guns. I'm not really defending these guns because a lot of what has been said about them is true and it's getting hard to argue in their favor. I just want you to know that I'm not crazy, that's all, because I agree with a lot of your opinions.

WTF, I also hear what your saying on things that currently circumvent the laws on the books but what makes you think any of what you wrote is gonna stop someone hell bent on going out in a blaze of glory from doing so?

None of that would of stopped this guy other than maybe a 30 day training course because he would of eatin that bullet trying to sit thru that class instead of at the crime scene. What exactly is accomplished in a 30 day training proposal other than an large deterrent for most? As long as it don't effect what I like to do right?

300 million plus people in this country are tasked with making decisions every day. Bad ones are made everyday. You centralized govt progressive dingdongs that think people like Hilary Clinton etc need to be left to make them all for all people to bring the utopia is something I will never be on board with.

One-fourth of teenagers respond to at least one text message every time they drive and 20% of teens and 10% of parents report having multi-text message conversations while driving.

Using the NRA logic all of those are statistically insignificant when compared to the total U.S. Population, so why worry about any of them. Texting and driving is as American as modifying a weapon to spray automatic fire onto a crowd. Neither of those actions are protected by our Constitution though.

I have fired bump stock AR's, I do not own one and never will, so don't care if they ban them. But it won't change anything. There is not a law that can be passed that will fix anything. Total confiscation probably won't happen, and won't help, and I'm pretty sure most gun owners would do nothing if they tried.

So the NRA answer to every issue is: "Nothing can be done, so why even try?" That is was losers do with in their life.

I don't believe banning bump stocks will change anything either. I also don't believe that burying your head in the sand and letting the NRA be the only voice from gun owners will protect MY 2nd Amendment rights. You are free to our source your constitutional protections to Ole Wayne, I choose not to worship at his trough. Your mileage may vary.

The NRA's scorched earth policy of not even being able to discuss issues will eventually mean the public will demand action from Politicians. Do you trust politicians to get it right? Do you Trust courts to get it right? What happens now that Trump broke the Senate when the leftwingers get to install Justices with a simple majority? History of this country has shown that no majority is permanent. If the future of this country and potential tyranny is truly what the NRA and it's supporters worry about then they are taking short term actions that are harmful to that long term goal.

Here we go again. Are you and Elkass twins separated at birth?

You used the stats to say 30,000 gun deaths don't matter and then you said nothing will change, so why try.

When I pointed that out to you then you do the classic Elkass response.

You are mister numbers: explain, using your stats, why nothing can be done. No education, no mental health resources, no outreach to non gun owners. Why do just say allowing modifications that allow full automatic fire are just the way it has to be? If it is about protecting yourself from jack booted thugs, why doesn't the military only issue fully automatic weapons to our Soldiers and Marines?

I guess doing nothing is the answer I get from those who don't really care about it.

The NRA has lost before and they'll lose again. as Trump would say" you're going to get tired if losing " . but it will take a supreme court decision and so far they're unwilling to go there. but if you notice existing bans are standing.

I'd like someone to tell me why the NRA get's to decide where the line in the sand is drawn ? why does it stop with semi auto combat rifles and 100 round drums and bump stocks ? who says this is what the founding fathers intended? why should anyone accept it ?

This thread on mass shootings like all the others before it is about played out as the bodies start getting put in the ground. Bubba cheers another battle won and the antis build up a little more strength for the war to come. now we all sit back and wait for the next bloodbath. who's next ? another school full of kids ? another concert ? a pizzed off employee? who cares as long as it's not me right.

264,

Do tell how if they all had an AR it would have saved the Jews from the Holocaust. The other side had tanks, Aircraft, artillery, vast amounts of ammo for all them and political motivation. So if all the Jews just had an AR they could have held off the German Army and the German population who supported that German Army? It is a false narrative sold to the dim witted and paranoid that having an AR in their closet allows them to take on their government and prevail by force of arms.

You couldn't hold off a two man team of 18 year olds equipped and trained for combat. One would pin you down while the other called in a mortar round or tossed a grenade or used an AT-4 or simply moved up and put a round in you. To pretend you can go toe to toe with an organized military unit is a fantasy fed by Ole Wayne so he can buy another vacation home.

You can use an AR or shotgun or hand gun or rifle to protect your home from an intruder or thief or drugged out junkies but that weapon won't do diddly if the military ever decides you are a threat. When the military sees a threat in a house or building, that building disappears. Ever see what military ordinance can do to a ever a brick or block structure?

So explain how having an AR allows you to take on an organized military unit. Explain how the Jews would have stood and fought if each were simply armed with an AR or an AK. It is a fantasy you harbor that is kept alive by Ole Wayne that just be having a weapon you can take on tanks, Bradleys, Artillery, Mortars, M2 .50 cal MG, AT-4 Rockets, Air, MRLS, M-60 MG's, SAWS. That is just some of the firepower at the finger tips of every Butter Bar LT. leading an infantry platoon. You would last exactly 10 seconds. Your first mag change would be your last.

But keep on sending money to the NRA and keep on believing that they have your best interests at heart. Ole Wayne appreciates your blind loyalty as does the talking Yam. No thinking required.

You sniff too much nose candy.

The average civilian has no clue how much controlled violence a trained infantryman or Marine can bring to bear. When you put them in squads, platoon, Companies and Battalions, the get more and more lethal. They gain additional firepower as they go up an echelon. They can bring in combined arms firepower that would make short work of fake patriots like you hiding behind an AR with a bump stock. That is just a fact. You wouldn't make it past the first magazine.

Now go back to your fantasy that an AR would keep the Jews safe from the holocaust and everything Ole Wayne tells you think. Both he and Trump count on stupid, easily fooled clowns who pretend to be patriots.

I think the argument is flawed that well armed civilians couldn't take on a tyrannical government. You are assuming that those in the military, commanders, generals, admirals and all the way down to Private are on the government's side of the equation. You are essentially saying that the military might not be patriotic and would just follow orders to mow down civilians.

Suppose our politicians decided that there would be a complete ban on all guns and that Americans had 30 days to turn in their weapons. Are you suggesting that our military leaders would follow orders to confiscate the weapons we are rightfully guaranteed to own?

In the case of the Jews, I doubt that Jews having AR's would have stopped the holocaust but it probably would have lessened the number of dead Jews as a result. Why would Hitler have disarmed the Jews while making it easier for Germans to get guns if he wasn't concerned about the weapons they had? You're making it sound so one dimensional like our military can just whip ass over anything it encounters. If that is the case why are we still in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting low rent people armed with assault rifles? There is always more to the equation.

Do you think the other world leaders would approve of our military mowing down our citizens? Hell just look what history has shown us whenever the government tries to mow down it's own citizens. Remember Waco and David Koresh? Yeah that didn't work out so well in the court of public opinion for Janet Reno did it?

The bottom line is that a blanket statement that well armed citizens are no match for the military, while true, assumes that it's always going to be the citizens versus the military. In reality, it would almost never be like that.

264mag, just give up on Nemont. He is not capable of seeing the big picture that when the ARs go, next will be the semi auto shotgun and pump action shotguns that can be called "assault weapons" since the military have been using them in every war since WW1.
All it would take would be one killer using a shotgun with a extended magazine tube to mow down a bunch of people in a crowd with OO buck. That would become the new mass killing assault weapon for the anti gunners.

Nemont is on the side anti gunners by being the divided Quisling on the inside. He can deny it and give every excuse he can come up with, bottom line he is no friend to gun owners who believe in the 2nd. amendment. Dude is there right along beside him. Consider them the enemy and treat them as such.

Before you say anyone here doesn't support the 2nd amendment you better damn well define what the 2nd amendment says. at this point NOBODY can. we know what the Heller decision said and that's all good. now we need the supreme court to tell us the rest of the story. so far they've said if you want to enforce bans we won't stop you, but that's not a decision it's merely indifference.

As far as Bubba taking on the government that one is even less certain than one can imagine. because you cannot count on all gun owners fighting the government. depending on the situation some gun owners may be shooting at Bubba in defense of their nation while Bubba is shooting at the government. this isn't nearly as simple as Bubba is.

As far as the bullchit slippery slope propaganda goes I have one question for you. shotgun barrels of less than 18" were banned in 1938. what is the minimum length today ?

I am not on the side of the anti's, I am on the side of law abiding citizens and their right to keep and bear arms. I am not on the band wagon of stuffing the pockets of the NRA leadership. They have an agenda that in the end and in the big picture is going to cost me my rights. I have no issue if you want to buy any legal fire arm. AK's, AR's, SKS, what ever, I don't really give a turd about it because I also own Benelli's and Beretta's and semi auto pistols.

I do not support and unless some dramatically changes with your leadership and their tactics will never support the NRA's scorched earth policy. You can continue with them if you choose

CA,

No I am not assuming anything. 264 said his AR means he could go toe to toe with the military, He can't . Now all the rest of the hypothetical is just that a hypothetical. If we are to the point of gun confiscation then we are also at or near civil war. Then you pick sides, that is different then believing that just buying an AR is a guarantee from tyranny is pure lunacy but I guess considering 264 is loony I should not expect anything else.

Look at the nut bar in Vegas, he had a room full of weapons and knew he couldn't hold out even against the police. Neither could 264 or almost anyone. All that AR really does is let you believe in a paranoid fantasy of either civil war or jack booted thugs and most likely it won't come to that. Doesn't mean the 2nd Amendment shouldn't be defended and gun ownership isn't important and a way to defend yourself. It does mean that buying weapons in the belief it protects you from tyranny is silly reason to buy them and is used by Ole Wayne as a scare tactic to keep the money flowing.

Ocho we know you'd be the first f##kin turncoat when they came for everyones gun. You'd blow the whistle on all your friends and family like a member of the mob trying to stay out of prison. Give the left one inch and they take a mile so the answer is no no and F##k no on a ban of any sort. Let me say it again so you don't have to re-read the solution to the problem quit handing anti depressants out like smarties. You want to ban something tell Sony and Microsoft no more shooter video games. Make your kids buy their own God Dam Cell phone and data. Take your kids and their buddies to do outdoor things. Make your kids cook and wash dishes and put away their phone at the dinner table. Buy them a fishing pole or a bow instead of an andriod watch or PS3 for christmas. Most important less social media.

Ochodingdong, you have made my point perfectly. Assuming that the Bubbas would fight the Bubbas is also assuming that soldiers would follow orders to kill civilians. You can't blindly assume that it will be the military versus the civilians therefore civilians shouldn't own assault weapons.

Nemont, I understand what 264 said, but you also said that assault weapons are useless against the military. You're right but civilians against the military would almost never happen realistically. A civil war which would pit civilians against civilians with military on both sides of the argument is much more likely. In a civil war I would much rather have an assault weapon than a bolt action hunting rifle.

It's understandable that the Vegas shooter stood no chance against the police but he's one guy. If 20 people armed with those same weapons went up against that same police force, I guarantee you would have a lot of dead cops.

If 55 million gun owners armed with assault rifles went up against the 1.2 million active duty military, you would have severe casualties on the military side I don't care how many tanks and Apache's they have.

I don't own any assault weapons. I used to have an SKS but I sold it because I never shot it and the guy offered my a good price for it. I really don't think people need to fear for their safety enough to have assault weapons but who am I to tell people what to fear? Like I said before, I'm willing to make concessions on the modifications, etc. that make assault weapons even more deadly but I think the mental health problem and the radical Islam issue should be addressed as well.

The 2nd amendment says nothing about assault rifles. so I don't have to assume anything more about assault rifles than I do surface to air missiles in the 2nd amendment .

I do not think our military would turn on citizens unless it was to save the nation from traitors like whines. in which case they'd have the support of many americans like myself. with or without Rambo chit we'd be a militia.

Maybe a lot of this comes down to how much you love your country. I do. or how much you fantasize overthrowing it. I don't. even as it is with an orange retard in the whitehouse and a bunch of do nothing losers in congress I have confidence things will work out .

Hey Ocho you just proved you don't know a dam thing about guns the gun assault rifle doesn't exist there is no such thing as an assault rifle it's a left wing made up imaginary unicorn type gun. Now in a gun like a AR-15 AR stands for ArmaLite rifle. So Shut the hell up because you just proved you know nothing about guns and people who don't know anything about guns carry no weight in a debate to ban them. Ocho you don't love this country you turncoat orgeganian POS. Nemont yeah the military has changed the british had more cannons than the USA had if you want to compare rifles to mortars in modern times of being outnumbered in arms.

You may want to research a bit more how the fire power of our military has changed with 1812.

Hypotheticals that ALL 55 million gun owners would turn on the military, or that the military leaders would disobey orders is a lot of yada, yada, yada. If your reason for purchasing an AR or AK or SKS is because you believe it would protect you from tyranny, then when you look in the mirror, that guy staring back at you is an idiot. If it ever comes to outright confiscation, then all bets are off and then you will have a harder time feeding yourself and family than protecting from tyranny of the government. But the NRA feeds this narrative.

I actually see many AR platforms used by the local guys who hunt coyotes. They are fun to shoot, I don't think banning them would work given the number of them that out there and how many would be bought prior to an any ban. I just think that guys who pretend they can take on all comers with one are just like what Tillerson thinks of Trump, F@$king morons. Look at the caliber on posters on here who believe it.

Too bad the Vegas shooter didn't have the same weapons the army had at wounded knee. there would be at least 40 more people alive in Vegas today. white people, the only ones who matter.

That is kind of my point , thanks for making it.

Guyana is a long was from Vegas. and I didn't think going to a concert was supposed to be suicide.

But he did get people to drink the kool aid, just like the NRA. so thanks for making my point.

How ironic that Ochodingdong is cool with his crown and pickup truck which in combination kills approximately 10,000 people per year. Using his logic shouldn't we ban alcohol? I mean we don't need alcohol and we could surely save lives if it was illegal right?

What's funny is that he gets all retarded about people's "man card" guns but his alcohol kills more people every year. There's not a chance in hell he would be willing to give up alcohol to save lives so let's just cut the shyt and admit this isn't about saving lives.

After all, I should be able to get in my car with my family and travel anywhere I want without having to worry that some drunk idiot is going to plow into us head on at 70 mph. I guarantee you not one of those 22,000 people at that concert thought for one second that they would be sprayed with bullets that night so what's the difference? Why should I have to fear drunk drivers especially on holiday weekends?

Why is it that when a family of four is killed by a drunk driver it only receives local media attention but if a shooter walks into a bar and just randomly starts killing people it makes national headlines? You see, it's not about the lives lost, it's about the why did he do it. Does the drunk driver not intending to kill those people lessen their value of life? Can you even call it accidental when the drunk driver knew it was against the law to drive drunk and that he might possibly kill people? If a drunk driver "accidentally" plowed into a crowd of people and killed 58 of them would anyone be calling for the banning of alcohol? Hell no so why is this any different?

Banning alcohol would mean that the left would have to give up something that they love which is why they don't care about the carnage inflicted in a DUI crash. The left is anti-gun which is why you hear about more gun laws and gun bans no matter what gun is used in a mass shooting. Gabby Giffords assailant used a hand gun and people cried about limiting the number of rounds handguns could hold.

We can't talk about banning Muslims when a Muslim turns all jihadi on people and we can't talk about banning alcohol to save lives because none of that is convenient for the left. PERIOD!

Doesn't seem we can talk about guns either does it dipchit ?

Pretty funny how many of you girls are so scared of alcohol. stick to your kambuhca and lattes if your vag can't handle a drink. I guess booze and Birkenstocks don't mix I the metro areas huh? but you do like your drugs.

There are lots of regulations on alcohol. limits on content, liability for bars that don't cut customers off. you can't drink in public. you can't drink until you're 21. I could go on.

But for guns we want no regulations. put the same restrictions on guns we have on alcohol and you'll be about where common sense gun laws should be.

I knew you would go full retard when someone brought up alcohol. I drink all the time so before you go ASSuming that I can't handle alcohol you should understand that I'm not advocating banning alcohol you dope.

Of course we regulate alcohol but you're dumb enough to think that more regulations are needed on something that kills far less people. Typical libtard wanting something banned that doesn't affect you but see how you act when someone brings up alcohol. You proved my point to a tee as usual by getting your panties in a bunch when I brought up banning alcohol. Next I expect you to say that the two are apples and Tuesday.

You fail to see the comparison is exactly the same though since by your own admission there are already numerous regulations on alcohol yet drunk driving kills way more people annually than ARs do.

Why don't you just be honest and admit that you don't give a shyt how many people die from alcohol every year? Why not just admit that banning alcohol would save thousands of lives but your greedy alcoholism is more important? Just say it, you like alcohol so you want to keep it no matter how many people die.

You're to dumb to get it Californian. we have more restrictions on alcohol than we do guns. and considering how many people buy alcohol it must be working. a total ban would be the only way to reduce deaths. we could ban cars and then we could remove all restrictions on alcohol if that would make you happy? every night would be like rodeo dance night.

But NOBODY is talking about a total ban on guns dumbchit. just restrictions. and that is something you can't bullchit your way out of. in the end majority will rule. it just takes time.

Again, you're too dumb to see it but that doesn't surprise me at all. You don't care about the deaths and you cannot be honest about it. Libtards like yourself would be too inconvenienced by a ban on alcohol so you don't want it. Tell the truth dumb #####, banning alcohol would save thousands of lives but you don't want that.

You only want to ban things that you don't use and it's the same with most libtards. Society doesn't need alcohol to exist and it remains a life luxury so we look past the amount of death it causes. Why you're so stupid to see that is beyond me. So you like alcohol and some other dude likes assault rifles. Both cause the death of people but you LOVE the more deadly one. Typical libtard making zero sense at all.
