home builders oppose

Wow DimWit I'm impressed, not many republicans get that anymore. So I take it you're opposed to the tax plan with a " YUGE " deficit ?

This tax plan, or what we know of it at this point is doomed. too many in congress say they won't go for a plan that won't fund the cuts. and we all know way to fund the thing will be a nutshell game where the little guys loses and the Koch bros win. and hopefully the votes aren't there for that either.

It's going to be interesting. the GOP says this is a do or die for them. if that's true the most likely outcome will be some poorly devised nothing burger farse rushed through at the last minute . just so they can say they finally did something.

So if our government reduces the amount of revenue it collects by offering tax breaks and continues to fund everything the Republicans want (ie more war, more debt and no cuts to anything) and that spending exceeds the revenue taken in, how isn't that creating debt?

Why would home builders be opposed to getting rid of the mortgage interest deduction? What does it do for people building homes and more importantly who benefits from that tax break?

I thought all republicans were for eliminating loopholes and deductions? Sounds good until it is your ox being gored. Just imagine how much money is wasted on CPAs and tax preparation by the average Joe. Those companies will go nuts if it gets down to a simple one page tax form. I don't see any sweeping changes coming out of this deal. Bunch of cosmetic moves and a lower corporate tax rate will be it.

Exactly.

I thought letting people keep their money was a conservative value?

#livelikezac

It is but letting people keep their money, while borrowing trillions in order to not suffer at the ballot box is what the modern GOP is about. There is nothing conservative about this tax plan.

In it's current form it would explode the debt even more but that is what the GOP wants to pass.

Wouldn't the conservative way be to reduce spending and start dealing with the debt so the future Americans don't have to deal with it?

Then attack the correct part of the ******** problem! Christs sake even lennie gets it!

Will never happen Nemont. For the Democrats it is not part of their ideology. The Republicans will not attempt it due to the Democrats that will beat them over the head with it and accuse them of killing off the poor and middle class to the point the Republican will lose his next election.
We the people come first ONLY AFTER THE CONGRESSMAN TAKES CARE OF HIMSELF OR HERSELF.
I know you have not been for term limits, but it has got to the point with me that they all should be limited to 2 terms then out they go and can not run for public office again until after 8 years. Will never happen as Congress will never vote that in.

RELH

The problem with term limits is that it gives massive power to the bureaucracy. The ballot box is the term limit device provided by our Representative Republic form of government.

Term limits will require a Constitutional amendment and I don't think we can get an agreement on that given the America of today.

Term limits also destroys institutional knowledge and the political parties will fight over the same hills all the time.

As for Republicans not having courage to fight back on spending cuts, I agree but is that a Democrat problem or a Republican problem? I would suggest it is the latter and not the former.

If a girl has a choice between two sugar daddies and one tells her to cut spending and one tells her to spend all she wants.....the first one will be sent packing.
