Maybe a new gun law like this one would have prevented this from happening:

OPbuttsucker, if you can get a confiscation done go for it I don't care. but I don't think it's politically possible or prudent.

A sales ban on the other hand makes perfect sense and is doable because we have already done it. I twill be done again and it won't have an expiration date

Nobody cares about this shooting. BFD we need a minimum of a dozen to take an interest these days. unless it involves a raghead or a beaner, and then a scratch on the arm is a 5 day story.

Nobody cares? I don't think anybody wants to see anybody die for any reason including alcohol but our problems in this society are much more complex than ban scary guns. Criminals and crazies are guna do what there guna do regardless of the law and last time I checked there are plenty guns out there to be had or other ways to kill.

Hey dumbass, that ban was in 2016 so there are no magazines over 10 rounds in California. Just makes millions of law abiding citizens criminals to please Der Fuhrer. Point is no gun law will save one single person. The only way it could work is if the government went door to door and cracked some skulls and take away all weapons and ammo. Then they would stop anyone on the street and shake them down for weapons. Sounds kind of like what the Germans went through.

According to the local news station, the first two people the suspect killed were his neighbors. A woman and her son who had a court issued restraining order on the suspect. He was arrested for assaulting them with a deadly weapon some months back. So far no information if he was found guilty of that charge in court.
The suspect was well known to local law enforcement and we will have to wait and see if he was in possession of firearms illegally.
If this had been Oregon or Washington, his residence would have been searched and all firearms removed when that restraining order had been issued.

According to reports, Neal was prohibited from possessing and firing weapons under his bail. Johnston said the two semi-automatic rifles used in Tuesday?s shooting were ?manufactured illegally by him at his home.?

It looks like he circumvented firearm laws by buying a 80 percent receiver and made his own rifle. Also looks like the local sheriff's dept. failed to enforce the bail restrictions on him not having any firearms when they got complaints of his shooting at his residence.
