failing Obamacare?

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...bamacare-plans-so-far-officials-idUSKBN1DF27A

quote:
There is particular scrutiny of how Affordable Care Act programs are faring after a year in which President Donald Trump has sought to undermine Obamacare, especially after his fellow Republicans in Congress failed to pass legislation to repeal and replace the law.

More people have signed up for Obamacare plans in the first two weeks of 2018 open enrollment than in the same time period last year, and the sign-ups include about 345,000 new consumers, according to the latest figures from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

But the Trump administration halved the 2018 open enrollment period to six weeks, slashed the Obamacare advertising budget by 90 percent and cut funding for groups that help people enroll in Obamacare insurance, so it is still unclear whether there will be the same level of participation as in years past.

The Congressional Budget Office has forecast that 11 million people will buy plans in 2018, 1 million more than were enrolled in 2017.

Well, Trumpcare never made it past the BS stage, and the Obamacare tax penalty is higher this year for not signing up. But it might be that people love it.

My daughter loves Covered California. She got a new 60" LED TV, two new cars and really cheap health insurance.

I'm not proud of how she handles her finances but I am proud how she takes everything the stupid government begs her to take.

So you're saying Trump cut a bunch of frivolous spending on marketing and Big Brother guiding you through the process, and people were able to find their way to Obamacare? Huh, isn't that interesting.

#livelikezac

What is even more interesting is that almost nobody is enrolling except through healthcare.gov. In addition when your main talking Yam ended the CSR payments, which drove his base crazy with Orange love, but he allowed the carriers to raise rates at the 11th hour more people are qualifying for $0 premium plans than at any time since the ACA passed into law. It is costing the taxpayers almost double then it would have had he done nothing. So if you are going to cheer for him over cutting $10 million in marketing cost but spending $11 billion more on tax credits then I guess your fake conservatives credentials are nearly certified completely.

That is not the subject of your original post. You may as well have said I know you are but what am I?

At the end of the day this is about nothing but money and putting wood to the poor. can we be honest for a second.

So what is the verdict? will the premiums I pay on the open market increase or decrease in the next year?

Stay Thirsty My Friends

Increase. Mine were $1,177 a month for me and two kids. Daughter went off in July, premium went down to $868 for me and one kid. 2018 renewal is $1,184 for a higher deductibles for me and sonny boy.

It has to end somewhere. I looked at a plan for a family of four yesterday, total premium was $3,542 a month. Initial calculation was that they would pay about $710 after the tax credit. After that talking Yam?s brilliant move ending the CSR payments they will pay $234, the rest is paid with a tax credit.

So you don't care about the debt as long as your daughter takes all she can get?

Raising her like a boomer. Makes sense.

So you are loving Trump?s expansion of Obamacare? I thought it was a complete failure that could easily be repealed and replaced?

Which is it?

I've had Tweakers that have worked for me that could stay on point better than you.

So I'm getting an increase in my insurance premium and a tax increase. wonderful.

And we will add to the debt and have a worse healthcare mess than we started with to boot. wonderful.

Electing a retard for president seems to be working out just about as well as one would expect.

When the backlash hits in 2020 the libs are going to make every Robin Hood dream they ever had come true.

Nemont, honest question since I don't know the answer. Where would our premiums be now if we didn't have Obamacare? I'm sick and tired of our health care system. I'm even more tired of these dead beats that think they should be handed health care, along with a welfare check. If you are truly in need then I'm willing to help out, but if you are just too lazy or too high then why is that my problem. I see it every day walking into homes. Plenty of able bodies that just refuse to work because they take the easy way. This country can't continue at this pace.

On a side note something has to give. I'm sick and tired of all these politicians telling us what is great for us, but aren't even on the same plan. We as Americans, need to wake up and sound the alarms. Enough is enough.

If you are ready to have this conversation first you need to get it right , who are the people obamacare is supposed to help?

Medicare is for old bums. medicade is for younger bums. not paying the bill and walking away is for wetbacks and tweakers.

Obamacare was intended for the working poor. those who worked and did the best they could but could not afford private insurance without assistance. I know lots of these folks, hard workers who're never going to be rich or famous but do the best they can.

To lump them in with parasites is unfair and un-American. it makes you sound like a Trump supporter.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-17 AT 10:23AM (MST)[p]Woah there drunkered your ignorance is showing again. Obviously, you are one person who should of stayed in school and learned reading comprehension. In your case that GED just didn't work. Go back and read what I wrote, but this time pull your thumb out of your ass. I clearly said I have no issue helping those who are in need, however, I do have an issue with those who refuse to help themselves. This was an honest question for Nemont.

Labeling everyone who you disagree with as a Trump supporter is pure ignorance, but expected for a blowhard like yourself. Now let the adults talk for a minute.

Let me ask again Nemont. I honestly would like to get your opinion. What do you think premiums would be now if there wasn't Obama care? Again, I have no issue one way or another with health care for those in need, but I would like to think it could be cheaper than what some have to pay. A friend tried to get insurance for his wife but it would of cost him $1,000 a month. He makes less than $40,000 a year. How is this affordable? Something has to give but our government is stale, and refuses to work for the people. They are so at odds with one another that they are letting the people of this country down.

If you can't comprehend your own bullchit don't fault me for failing to. the working poor get more out of the ACA than welfare bums do crack head. if you want to cry about something cry about medicade not Obamacare, because medicade is the fall back plan. your question should be what would our rates be without the ACA or medicade ?

I don't know how Nemont can assess what premiums would be without the ACA's existence but I'd like to know as well . in the mean time here is something you can ponder to help you ascertain the obvious, were insurance rates going up or down prior to the ACA passing ?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-17 AT 12:25PM (MST)[p]Easy there stupid don't pop a blood vessel in that tiny little brain of yours. Not sure why you are always trying to argue other than your wife must be put of the house and you have no else to talk with. Stop being stupid for just one minute and have a civil conversation.

The reason I asked Nemont is because he's in the business dummy. It was a question asking for his "opinion". Go look that work up....dummy.

Yes, premiums were going up prior to ACA, I have never disputed that and still don't. However, under the ACA they are continuing to rise too. Would you at least agree on that? Furthermore, if premiums were going up prior to ACA, and are still going up after ACA was passed what point is it. It's not a good plan and we should demand the government do better or vote them out. But, even if there was a good plan it would never get passed because we have a stale government that only cares about if it's a Republican or Democrat sponsored bill. If ACA is so wonderful why do our politicians not use it?

"So you don't care about the debt as long as your daughter takes all she can get?
Raising her like a boomer. Makes sense."

Caring about the debt does what exactly? That's a Democrat talking point. "We care", but everything they care about, they create more of it. The war on poverty, the war on drugs....working wonders.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-17 AT 04:45PM (MST)[p]Christ you're almost sounding like you have a brain. it just takes you a while to find your groove after the crack wears off.

I look forward to Nemont's input there is no question he knows far more about it than both of us. but you're asking him for an answer that only Carnac wouldn't have to speculate on.

The ACA is a chitty bill. nearly as chitty as the republican tax reform plan. but the ACA was a step in the right direction that could have been improved. had the only input from the republicans not been to repeal it and replace it with nothing.

so what is your solution ? I only have one but Trump and I seem to be the only ones who like it. where will you find the fabled free lunch the democrats seek to secure from tax payers ? or the republican's promise they seemingly intend to pull out of their azz?

I say if you don't like the ACA then you have an obligation to do better. let's hear it.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

The goal of the ACA is to slow down the current and projected spending rate of healthcare as a portion of our GDP. Which it has done. It would be a greater success once you take away all the Republican current and past sabotage. Funding, access, enrollment, and by enrollment number subsidies until solvent as prescribed with it's intention would make it an even greater success.

Johnson: War on Poverty Nixon: War on Drugs

2 Parties, 2 plans, which one was successful?

I don't get the logic here. You can't blow up the train tracks then go on to complain later that the trains in your area are not running on schedule.

The more people covered, the slower healthcare cost rise across the board.

Condoms they are cheap.

Not a bad start. but your heroes don't like birth control much mote than abortion. make the slut pay for her sins by raising an unwanted child without assistance. that will teach her.

Universal health care is the future. like it or not there is no alternative. we'll have it within a decade.

I am certain that premiums would be lower but so would the number of people covered. It is almost impossible to compare pre and post ACA because the rules, regs, processes etc are all completely and totally different.

We could move to high risk pools that are subsidized and allow guaranteed issue plans and move the healthy to a pools of business that allow competition. How you get there is a very sticky problem for the politicians to solve though.

We could form a national reinsurance pool and allow carriers to access their high cost claims above a certain level, say $350,000 for any one person in a year. The reinsurance pool would be paid into by the carriers (ie the insured premium) plus a corridor of taxpayer support to keep it viable until it is fully funded.

We could allow for fewer special circumstances to enroll and if outside of those we could allow a short two or three month pre existing conditions penalty.

Selling across state lines will do almost zero the cost of insurance especially when you have national carriers like Blue Cross and Blue Shield who already have nationwide network agreements. The people supporting this are really saying they want more federal intrusion into states rights.

Lot's of stuff and few seem interested in actual solutions.

About your buddy who is making $40,000. Not sure what state you live in but if he and his spouse were both age 40, household size of 2 and making $40,000 he would be eligible for a tax credit of of $265 for her to offset her premium. In addition $795 if it's just the two of them. Add a kid or two and it goes up.

Just her

healthcaregov_zpsxvhinzrv.jpg

Both of them

healthcaregov2_zpsrpsgxhhu.jpg

So the cost is going up and the subsidy is going away. phuk the working guy and say you're cutting off the welfare bum.

Sounds like business as usual in Trump world.

This reminds me, why are we having this conversation? didn't the republicans promise us a great solution to our healthcare mess a year ago if we elected them ?

Unless someone can come up with something the media hasn't reported on I'd have to say we were lied to. what's worse, I haven't heard of anything on the horizon either. too much time spent on the NFL, Hillary and protecting pedophiles and not enough on real problems.
