Paying Taxes?

Solution one.
Scrap the income tax and go to a national sales tax of some form.
Since the poor and non working currently pay no income tax a sales tax would be a big tax increase on the poor.
Solution two
Go to a cashless monetary system. A sure way to give the government complete control over your life. The loss to personal freedom would be huge.
Are you sure that Trump was talking about cheaters or was that quote in reference to taxpayers that take advantage of loopholes in the tax code to lower their taxes.
I am no Trump fan but he has been taken out of context or miss quoted so often by the media that I am starting to feel sorry for him. It is getting harder for me to vote for a middle of the road democrat even though I agree with them on many issues. I no longer trust the media to hold democrats accountable for there failures.

They could do a national sales flat tax and it would fix everything. So many people double dip by getting paid under the table then on top of that getting EBT cards. It would be hard for low income people but there are ways to fix that too. Make people save their receipts to show how much they paid in taxes and at the end of the year if their in a certain income bracket-cut them rebates or something. I bet tax income would double if they did it this way. And it would double just on people who double dip

They all ready do that. At least now anytime they buy sh!t they'd pay their fair share. Then they also wouldn't be able to get rebates on their taxes as they're not a legal citizen

I was hoping someone had an idea to punish the cheaters.
Since it was brought up though I'm in favor of keeping the progressive tax system as it has a certain beauty to it that I believe is the reason it was originally implemented.
History tell's us that whenever the middle class is beat down they rise up and revolt, murdering the aristocrats and the whole thing starts over again. In a progressive system the higher earners are taxed at a higher rate and lower earners less. The higher earners extra is distributed amongst the poor with civility being kept in check. The poor go right on being poor with the hope and opportunity's to move up. Now here's the beauty of it all, the rich go right on being rich.

Who needs to cheat ? most of the best loop holes are legal. the more money you have the better your game options.

I constantly hear complaints about how divided we are as a county. My bet is if the politicians would quit passing laws that favor one segment of society over another we would start coming together as a country.

That's either a lie or a pipe dream. If everybody paid their due taxes, government would see that as a green light to spend more and go further in debt. There's not enough money in the world to satisfy a government.

I originally said those working for cash, not loopholes in the tax code. Obviously, I have no way of verifying that estimate as we don't know. If you think those working for cash are reporting all of it well there's your pipedream.

Most work on farms, packing sheds, motels, mills, construction or whatever. these businesses can't afford to take chances on this scale, and they're not going to walk around 5 days a week with a roll of cash paying a workforce each night. it's not like they mow the lawn and you never see them again so they have withholdings just like you do.
Look at this tax bill and see who the big winners are. it's the same as it's always been magnified. the little guy pays taxes on his Kia and all his expenses to drive it , the fat cat pays no taxes on his Leer jet or the cost of flying it. welcome to America. this it what you voted for so enjoy it.
