WASHINGTON SECRETS

Year One List: 81 major Trump achievements, 11 Obama legacy items repealed

by Paul Bedard | Dec 21, 2017, 1:04 PM 

News from Washington Examiner

With the passage of the GOP tax bill this week, the Trump administration has scored 81 major achievements in its first year, making good on campaign promises to provide significant tax cuts, boost U.S. energy production, and restore respect to the United States, according to the White House.

And along the way, President Trump even outdid his own expectations and slashed at least 11 major legacy items of former President Barack Obama, including cracking down on the open border, slowing recognition of communist Cuba and effectively killing Obamacare by ending the mandate that everyone have health insurance or face a tax.

According to the White House, the 81 accomplishments are in 12 major categories and include well over 100 other minor achievements.

The unofficial list helps to counter the impression in the mainstream media and among congressional Democrats that outside the approval of Supreme Court Neil Gorsuch and passage of the tax reform bill little was done.

Administrations typically tout their achievements broadly at the end of each year, but Trump plans to list jobs added, regulations killed, foreign policy victories won, and moves to help veterans and even drug addicts.

And in a sign of support for conservatives, the White House also is highlighting achievements for the pro-life community.

Below are the 12 categories and 81 wins cited by the White House.

Jobs and the economy
?Passage of the tax reform bill providing $5.5 billion in cuts and repealing the Obamacare mandate.
?Increase of the GDP above 3 percent.
?Creation of 1.7 million new jobs, cutting unemployment to 4.1 percent.
?Saw the Dow Jones reach record highs.
?A rebound in economic confidence to a 17-year high.
?A new executive order to boost apprenticeships.
?A move to boost computer sciences in Education Department programs.
?Prioritizing women-owned businesses for some $500 million in SBA loans.

Killing job-stifling regulations
?Signed an Executive Order demanding that two regulations be killed for every new one creates. He beat that big and cut 16 rules and regulations for every one created, saving $8.1 billion.
?Signed 15 congressional regulatory cuts.
?Withdrew from the Obama-era Paris Climate Agreement, ending the threat of environmental regulations.
?Signed an Executive Order cutting the time for infrastructure permit approvals.
?Eliminated an Obama rule on streams that Trump felt unfairly targeted the coal industry.

Fair trade
?Made good on his campaign promise to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
?Opened up the North American Free Trade Agreement for talks to better the deal for the U.S.
?Worked to bring companies back to the U.S., and companies like Toyota, Mazda, Broadcom Limited, and Foxconn announced plans to open U.S. plants.
?Worked to promote the sale of U.S products abroad.
?Made enforcement of U.S. trade laws, especially those that involve national security, a priority.
?Ended Obama?s deal with Cuba.

Boosting U.S. energy dominance
?The Department of Interior, which has led the way in cutting regulations, opened plans to lease 77 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico for oil and gas drilling.
?Trump traveled the world to promote the sale and use of U.S. energy.
?Expanded energy infrastructure projects like the Keystone XL Pipeline snubbed by Obama.
?Ordered the Environmental Protection Agency to kill Obama?s Clean Power Plan.
?EPA is reconsidering Obama rules on methane emissions.

Dude this is part of what the Washington Post had to say about Trump's first year in office.

As the year ends, President Trump is compiling a solid record of accomplishment. Much of it is unilateral, dependent on extensive executive actions rolling back President Barack Obama?s regulations, impressive judicial appointments and the successful fight against ISIS overseas. The tax bill is the significant legislative achievement that heretofore has been missing.

For much of the year, Trump?s presidency had seemed to be sound and fury signifying not much besides the welcome ascension of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Now it's sound and fury signifying a discernible shift of American government to the right.

It's hard to see how a conventional Republican president would have done much better, except if he had managed to repeal ObamaCare, which was always going to be a dicey proposition given the narrow GOP majority in the Senate.

The tax cut is big ? $1.5 trillion over 10 years, and even more if you account for the budgetary gimmicks ? and has changes that conservative economists have sought for decades, particularly the lower corporate rate (from 35 to 21 percent), the move to a territorial tax system (companies would only be taxed on their earnings in the US) and the business expensing (companies can write off the full cost of new buildings and equipment).

Those are not all accomplishments, some are just chit that happened. and some are not anything to brag about if you care about the nation .

The tax cut savings are converted to US debt. you know that right?

With all this tremendous really good and wonderful news it's no wonder his approval ratings are historical. and there could be no doubt he's going to win an easy reelection right? so how much would you like to bet on it ?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-25-17 AT 10:11AM (MST)[p] Well he's done quite a bit more than Obama did in 2 terms in a year. That's the difference in a smart business man and a narcissistic attorney in the white house.

"We don't have a gun problem we have prescription drug problem."

Since you weren't born in 2008 have your teacher explain to you what it was like when Obama took office. then see if you can say Trump has done more.

How smart does anyone have to be to step into a record market and record job growth period and ride it ? hell a dipchit like you could have looked like a rock star the last year. the true test will be a few years from now when the economy needs a direction, the tax cut card has been played and there is nowhere for interest rates to go but up. then what? pray for the rapture Ned.

If you still think Trump is gods gift to America I would be more than happy to test your confidence with a wager. just like Trump I have no problem taking money from a baby.

Actually, Obama was very active and got a lot done his first year. One of the most accomplished Presidents.

Fortunately, Trump undid a lot of it his first year. The left will say Trump set the nation back 50 years already. Exactly why he got elected.

Elected by a minority, a minority that's shrunk a considerable amount in the last year.

The orange player will only get picked up off his face once. our everyone is a winner rules aren't going to cut it this time the other slow kids learned their lesson.

Unemployment is down. Home ownership is up. Stock market roaring, regulations are backed off. The direction the economy is heading is up for the next few years dude. I was in my 20s when Obama took office get your facts straight. Also trump has put other countries in their place which you think is stupid. But you like being taken advantage of. Other people are done with that. Also he isn't a draw the line in the sand and tuck his tail. So if that's bad you're a complete retard.

"We don't have a gun problem we have prescription drug problem."

Trump sure is undoing Obama's legacy isn't he.....You betcha!!! LOL

So dumdum (ochoko) kind of hard to admit Trumps tax bill managed to turn the GOP into the givers and the dems through rising Obamacare premiums the takers.......Guess who the guys that figure that out will vote for?

Every single pay day they see that raise and then look at how much that horrible health care plan costs them now.

What's hysterical is you're not bright enough to comprehend it......YOU BETCHA

The givers ? give to the rich and take from the poor you mean? well yes they are.

Obamacare was never for the top 1% , but the tax cuts give 80% of the savings to the top 1 % . Robin Hood in reverse. and those savings are at the expense of future taxpayers. Scrooge would love that as much as you.

I'm calling you out again slurper, bet me on the chit you're trying to sell. let's go you disingenuous orange coward.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

How ignorant are you? You really can't grasp logic can you. How many fat cats are voting and we know they'll be happy with the tax cuts. Right!!

Then do you think the majority of Americans that will see bigger paychecks every week vote for the party that opposed that?

You, Nancy & Chuck, and Warren and Perez are the only fools to believe that! Here's your sign!!! No matter how you try to demonize this you moron the little guys know which party gave them more. The Obamacare you can keep your Dr. lie is out of the bag and this one is an epic whopper as well!

The GOP told folks they were getting a tax cut and they delivered. The dems lied to them on every TV network and through every single newspaper in America....Wake up dumb azz!

Optics matter in Politics

LOL

How many fat cats are voting? since the top 1% get 83% of the savings in this case you're right. the fat cats are lov'in it. but the majority will see little to no change in their paycheck so can the 1% save Trump in the elections? forgive me for asking questions you can't comprehend, let me put this in Trump language so you can follow, " it's not good " .

We've been on a record market and jobs growth trend for years. but that wasn't good enough the minority o americans who are malcontent whiners need MORE. so they voted for a con man who made lots and lots and lots of promises. do you really thing a few hundred bucks a year from this tax break will turn their frowns upside down and they'll be giddy with delight ? let me put this in Trump terms so you can follow " the chances are very bad " .

So you're betting it all on a very unpopular president with one very unpopular bit of legislation. oh wait, no you're not. you won't bet on a phuking thing you just flip your orange lips.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

You obviously forgot how the other half lives and that right there is why you cry every year and can't find help...... $50.00 a week is a lot of money to many people but then again you lack the ability to comprehend that or have any compassion for it. That's why you're so damn miserable and spend your evenings trying to escape reality......every single day....

How many are going to see $50 a week ? you're such a retard.

The americans most in need won't see chit for a difference. they pay little or no taxes anyway. the middle class won't see nearly $50 in most cases. the wealthy may see a few hundred a week they don't need anyway. the uber rich will see thousands a week . bravo you did it.

So to sum it up, if you see $50 a week you probably don't really need it anyway. sorry to burst your bubble.

The people who forced the GOP into this chit bill are the ones who reap the rewards. they got what they paid for that's an absolute fact.

Updated December 27, 2017

On December 22, 2017, President Trump signed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It cuts the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent beginning in 2018. The top individual tax rate will drop to 37 percent. It cuts income tax rates, doubles the standard deduction, and eliminates personal exemptions. The corporate cuts are permanent, while the individual changes expire at the end of 2025.

Here's a summary of how the Act changes income taxes, deductions for child and elder care, and business taxes.

Income Taxes

The Act keeps the seven income tax brackets but lowers tax rates. Employees will see changes reflected in their withholding in February 2018 paychecks. These rates revert to the 2017 rates in 2026.

The Act creates the following chart. The income levels will rise each year with inflation. But they will rise more slowly than in the past because the Act uses the chained consumer price index. Over time, that will move more people into higher tax brackets.

Income Tax Rate

Income Levels for Those Filing As:

2017

2018-2025

Single

Married-Joint

10% 10% $0-$9,525 $0-$19,050
15% 12% $9,525-$38,700 $19,050-$77,400
25% 22% $38,700-$82,500 $77,400-$165,000
28% 24% $82,500-$157,500 $165,000-$315,000
33% 32% $157,500-$200,000 $315,000-$400,000
33%-35% 35% $200,000-$500,000 $400,000-$600,000
39.6% 37% $500,000+ $600,000+

It doubles the standard deduction. A single filer's deduction increases from $6,350 to $12,000. The deduction for Married and Joint Filers increases from $12,700 to $24,000.

Old dominion just handed out 500 dollars to it's employees today since the tax cut passed. Pretty generous if you ask me it's 500 dollars they didn't have. Not to mention other companies have handed out bonuses as well because of it. So how horrible was a tax cut it wasn't that's why it's called a tax cut. Another victory for the trump administration. Let the wins keep stacking up.

"We don't have a gun problem we have prescription drug problem."

No reduction for the broke bastard, how generous. WTF ? 3% reduction for the working guy, ooooooooooh. 2-3 % reduction for the rich. 2.6 % for the ubber rich. WTF ?

Cut expire for people, go forever for corporations. WTF ? and even if by some chance I save in the end, it's all added to the debt , at least admit that much.

Health care bills no longer deductible. SALT no longer deductible over 10k. it's " yuge " to property owners, and nowhere more than your chithole California. and we get double screwed on our state taxes.

Issa saw the chit on the wall and voted no. why do you suppose ?

This really says it all. the dems already making up the ads for the midterms with it.

You keep digging yourself in deeper. Issa and any other guy living in an area that this would effect negatively couldn't vote for it. That's political suicide but it works great for the dems doesn't it. But given they knew they had the votes needed, it allowed them to do what they had to do. California and Oregon created their own issues with how they generate state taxes and controlling expendatures. You don't pay sales tax in Oregon do you? The majority of states do so why are you crying? So your property taxes are higher and you're baying about it like the jack ass you are.

Obamacare wasn't created to provide affordable coverage to the masses it was designed to force us to go to a single payer system. Even the dems admitted it was designed to fail. If it was affordable, American's probably wouldn't need a tax cut... so cut your bullshit. The escalating costs of that boondoggle is one of the primary reasons why folks are so strapped. Disprove that.

So since you're paying next years taxes to try to avoid paying less in federal taxes you're crying about a guy paying less that has a lot less than you do.....Can you see your own hypocrisy here big mouth. You're crying about the little guy living paycheck to paycheck getting a tax break yet you're trying to beat the system to give yourself another one......

Can you see how this looks.....and then you wonder why you're so damn despicable......and miserable......all you care about is you and every single guy on this forum can see right thru your crap.......

For over 100 years SALT have been deductible. so any state that takes this into account for their tax structure is out of line ? that's funny.

You don't think the top 1% you just financed tax cuts with with debt for will not exploit every possible loophole and break they can to save taxes ? I have my bag of tricks but they're small time compared to the fat cats . if you were a bit smarter you'd understand the more you have the less you pay. that's the problem with trailer trash they don't understand we all play the same game but the rules are far different.

Don't feel sorry for the rich they can take care of themselves.

Stay Thirsty My Friends

You still didn't grasp it did you. Different states have different methods to arrive at how they derive their tax revenues. I was making fun of you for rushing to pay your tax to try to beat the system.... see conversely other states that pay sales tax aren't given that advantage to pre pay their sales tax which is part of their SALT deduction. grasp it yet? Since you have no sales tax.......

Nice to see you were finally able to see the point about the little guy needing a tax break, while you were making sure you got another one of your own.......LOL

yep you've got me overwhelmed with your tax knowledge....... so I suppose you do them yourself.....I'm sure you can just fly through those depreciation and amortization schedules along with computing your capital gains and losses, recapture and deciding which method to use to depreciate your farm machinery and your airplane. Then you can fly through all the schedules for livestock, crops, accrual methods and expenses...... Oh Wait you're a rich guy you pay for that don't you..... LOL
