On point means creating a diversion.

Even if Sessions follows orders and he put half of the last administration in jail, how does that keep 3/4 of this administration out of jail ? never thought it that far through did you ? nah, you didn't. and your herders didn't tell you because it doesn't matter. it's just a diversion.
