Town hall mtg on guns

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-18 AT 10:50AM (MST)[p]Who will pay for the armed guards in all school buildings? Here locally we couldn't get a mill levy passed to pay for it. That means it will be paid for by whom?

Aren't one size fits all solutions coming down from DC always bad for local control/states rights conservatives or has that now changed too in the fake conservative Republican party?

I have a tough time keeping up with which conservative principles are for sale.

Teachers with concealed permits, don't make a mountain out a mole hill.

Banning bump stocks and tighter background checks. Don't know how much tighter they can be here in colorado, I can't loan my niece a rifle to hunt elk with me without getting permission from big brother.

Colorado is a weird state sometimes. Legal weed but cannot loan a gun to a family member?

I watched a good part of it. First off, it wasn't a town hall meeting on guns, although guns were mentioned of course. It was a meeting on how we can protect our children in school.

I heard a lot of sad stories that really hit home. Even had me in tears a time or two.

Beyond that, mostly what I heard was blah, blah, blah. America is beyond help.

We can pay for the armed guards with the money schools get from the Federal Government. The Feds pay the schools for all the free $hit they give away to perceived poor people, schools fees, free lunch for half the state.

I had a job I did in Downtown Denver last summer, drove through five points, some nice cars in that neighborHOOD.

Probably so dirtygrass it's nonsense I haven't paid much attention to from first hearing it.

Eel, you are correct. It was about protecting children in our school... mostly from guns.

I too only saw the news clips. I'm sure there were a lot of emotional stories. How could there not be. And of course the knee jerk reaction is take away guns, especially the "assault rifles". Statistically speaking gun deaths in schools are relatively are when you consider there are 50.7 million children in public schools alone. But when it's your kid statistics don't matter.

There is no easy fix.

I bet more die annually from ingesting bugs than are killed by semi auto rifles. If its not obvious all they want to do is chip away I can't help ya.

So much for that idea.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb 22 (Reuters) - The armed deputy assigned to the campus of a Florida high school during a deadly shooting last week stayed outside the building during the attack and failed to engage the shooter, the county sheriff said on Thursday.
As a consequence, Scott Peterson, on duty as the school resource officer at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, resigned from the department, said Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, who earlier has suspended the officer from the force. He did not say if Peterson would face criminal charges.
Israel said he decided to suspend Peterson after viewing a video that showed the deputy's actions during the rampage that killed 17 people. A former student Nikolas Cruz, 19, is accused of carrying out the attack with an AR-15-style assault weapon.
?What I saw was a deputy arrive at the west side of Building 12, take up a position and he never went in,? said Israel. The building is popularly known as "the freshman building."
Israel said he would not release the video that shows Peterson?s actions at this time and may never do so, ?depending on the prosecution and criminal case.?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-18 AT 05:48PM (MST)[p] Trump struggled to stay awake. but he made a note to himself to be sure to act like he gave a chit. he forgot to read it.

Arming teachers is one of the dumbest ideas any retard has come up with in generations. 1 in 100 teachers own a gun. 1 in 1000 knows how to use it. 1 in 1 million is qualified to have a shoot out in a public setting. hell, I bet Trump couldn't load and fire a model 94 but he thinks hippie teachers can be Jon Wick. calling it total ignorance would be going lightly.

In teachers defense they signed on to teach kids not to be SWAT team shooters. take on kid with an AR-15 with a lady Smith ? how much will teachers get from the feds for suicide benefits ? get real.

Dude I know quite a few teachers that probably could outshoot your lazy butt with a handgun. My youngest son is one of them. I even have trained a few in the past.
Arming teachers should be on a volunteer basis only and they must pass a firearms course on the use of deadly force and have hands on firearms training and pass a shooting test. The guns can be kept in the office and classroom contained in a personal firearms safe that only the gun owner has access to.

Most teachers will not volunteer, but that is fine as you only need a few at each school.

What has made our schools a target is the fact most are "no firearms zones" and the nut cases know this is a easy target that they do not have to worry about being shot themselves. How many school shooters have meekly surrender when they were confronted by armed officers or citizens. That along should tell you they choose the school because they thought it would be an easy soft target that they did not have to worry about being shot in the opening minute.

Hey el if that is true about the school resource officer it is flat pathetic ! I have no idea about Florida but if they don't arm and train their police officers better than that it is a huge waste ! If a school resource officer is trained and armed properly they can make a huge difference in loss of life in an active shooter situation.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-22-18 AT 08:07PM (MST)[p]Eel and Notags, I am going to tell you something that will really up set you. That school resource officer resigned because he had enough time in for retirement. If he had choose to fight the sheriff for suspending him or firing him, he would have won the case and been re-instated with all back pay and benefits.

There is a U.S. Supreme Court decision that ruled an officer is NOT REQUIRED TO PROTECT INDIVIUDUALS. In other words he could stay back and wait for backup and not be punished for that action.

I agree his actions was that of a coward and possibly children died because he refused to enter and engage the active shooter, but the court decision is on his side.

The court case involved a 911 call by a female hiding in a closet advising dispatch that her roommate was being raped by an intruder. Police responded and after getting no answer at the door left. The caller was then found and raped if I remember right. She sued and lost the suit after the Supreme court handled down their decision the cop was not to be held liable for her safety.

I love watching you idiots scramble for excuses. when guns at school don't work it's time for damage control. for RELH to think any hippie chic can be handed a snub nose and be a great SWAT team shooter tells me he really was a meter reader. there's a bit more to taking down an active shooter in a public setting than tossing 5 38 rounds in the general direction. dumb chit.

Some teachers can shoot ? no chit Sherlock, I shoot sporting clays with a teacher who's one of the best shooters in the state. but he's the exception and he's still not a phuking middle school commando. get it ?

This puts it perfect. print this off and attach it to your pivot man. maybe that will get you to look at it.

So why don't you back up your position on this with numbers and facts. Calling people names & trolling them just makes you like an idiot and a douche. Just because you've decided what people should be allowed to own & do doesn't make it so.

How many ar15 style weapons owned vs crimes committed with them. How do those numbers compare to everything else? I'm curious how the Virginia tech guy killed twice as many with a handgun? I would contend the same numbers could be wiped out with a shotgun. Crazy people don't play by the rules and will adapt to what's available.

The fact is this is a complex issue that's gonna take multiple solutions that will never completely eliminate attention killing. Where there's a will there's a way my friend. So go on spewing your venom on gun bans that will do very little to stop the trendy attention killings and we will be here to remind the dumb Indian in Oregon ,that's pickling his brain a half gallon at a time, has missed the mark again with his genius predictions. The rest of us will have a rational conversation on ideas to make our kids safer.

True statement: calling names does make you look like a douche.

So here is question, why oppose moving the age to be allowed to purchase an AR 15 to age 21? We accept that a person isn't responsible enough to legally buy alcohol until age 21. What rights are infringed if buying a gun is changed to age 21?

I know it won't stop school shootings and the slippery slope yada, yada, yada, I want to hear a reason why you all believe it would be a bad idea or more importantly point out what right it infringes on. Why is the NRA opposed to such a move?

Nemont

Because you know as well as I do we'll take an 18 year old kid, train him up, stick a rifle in his hand, and throw them in that cat box. As far as I'm concerned he should be able to drink too!

Dude you are still living in a cave being fed manure. You need to get out and attend several IDPA pistol matches and it will show you how civilian shooters can sweep and clean a room of a shooter. In fact I would prefer a good IDPA shooter to back me on a shootout over a lot of officers that are mediocre shooters at best.

Dude I have several teenage grandkids that could outshoot you with a handgun any day of the week. Just because you are a mediocre handgun shooter does not mean everyone else is. Quit blowing the B.S. out of your rectum for once in your life.

O look Kasich chimed in. Have you found somebody in the world that matches your degree of conservatism?

I don't remember me saying I took a position on age limits, stricter background checks or requirements? I was speaking to 440 and his rants that banning semi auto rifles fixes these issues. I don't belong to the NRA so ya didn't hurt me with that one either Kasich. This societal problem is about as easily fixed as the half a dozen conservatives in DC fixing the 80 years of decay in our federal government. Complex and ain't happening overnight. Have a great day.?

You guys have a way over inflated view of how much I give a shyt about any of it. TDS? For pointing out what a bunch of faker you clowns have become. Selling your souls to Trump as he pretends to lead you to the promised land.

I guess it is TDS, Telling Dumb Shyts was is actually happening instead of pretending the red ink isn't piling up.

OP,

I asked what you would accept, not that you claimed anything, Dumb Shyt. The Telling Dumb Shyts the truth gets hard some times.

Kasich wasn't a nut job. You can pretend it isn't so but the clown car driver is going to end badly for the Republican party and by selling out on the debt you clowns have zero credibility of claiming conservative values of any kind.
