elkassassin, here's one. These people set all this up right under the Forest Service noses and they didn't even notice. How could they not notice all this going on ahead of time? It's really remote and except for hunting season, nobody is around. Unbelievable.

Large Trespass Marijuana Grow Cleaned Up

In the summer of 2017, a large public land trespass marijuana cultivation complex was discovered on the Six Rivers National Forest within the Yolla Bolly ? Middle Eel Wilderness managed by the United States Forest Service. The complex was named Jones Ridge and comprised seven distinct growing plots spanning over a mile in length (Figure 1), and 3 individual sites each with camps and associated growing plots and infrastructure. The complex was quickly eradicated by federal, state and local Law Enforcement in summer 2017 to disrupt the continued misuse of these public lands.

I Hear Ya eel!

I Had A USFS Official Ask Me How Long My Camp Trailer had been Parked in a Certain Place a few years back!

I Said:

Not as Long as the Trailer I Reported to you Guys 5 months ago that's Still sitting in the Same Place!

He got in His Truck & Left!

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

I grew up in the shadow of the Yolla Bolly wilderness. I can tell you that the middle fork of the Eel river is as remote as it gets in California. The only way the USFS is going to find a remote grow is to get out in the brush, or someone gives them the location. And if done with any sort of stealth they would never find it. If they can't get there A/C equipped truck to the site they wont see it. Back when I was growing up in that country the summer steelhead summered in those deep holes in the upper middle fork. You could almost walk across the water on there backs. Today, you are luck to see maybe a hundred fish.

Take 2 paddles when you are up the creek.

DIY, that's a great story, I'm glad you saw it when it was in its prime.

What baffles me is, all that equipment and supplies had to be trucked in on a road out Jones Ridge. Why didn't the FS notice all the traffic? You would think a truck loaded down with fertilizer and plastic water line would raise a red flag. All those trips and the road would start getting dusty. Did they not notice that?

Eel there is a good chance some of those FS employees were involved in the grow. I had one here years ago where we busted a FS employee growing marijuana on FS property. He was a temporary employee employed during the summer as a firefighter.

RELH

RELH, I ran into a grow one year. I was driving out and flagged down a FS truck. I told him about it and offered to show him the exact location on a map. He told me to be careful and stay away from it and then drove off without even looking at the map. That was the end of it. I should have gone to the District Office.

And another thing. If a private citizen diverted a creek to water his tomatoes, there would be 17 environmental groups file a law suit. Weed growers can suck the creeks dry and not even so much as a peep out of them. In fact they would sue the oil companies for climate change because the creek ran dry.
