The Left Coast....

And earlier in the week on a 5-0 vote out of conference, the legislature will be voting on a bill that requires all homes and apartments to have solar starting in 2021. WTF? do these idiots realize that on the north coast have way too much fog and clouds to even work most of the time. How about those mountain communities with trees and trees and more trees. Unfucingbeliveable.

My average utility bill is $300 a month ,it wouldn't be worth paying $30,000 grand to be put on my house,it's a f%cking scam

It is only required on any NEW HOME being built after the starting deadline, not any home that was built prior to that date.
As for cost, more like around $10,000. We have a very good electrician that put in a Genrac generator for our home due to those mountain outages in the winter, He told us that for our home we could install a solar system for $ 9,000. and just about all the components would have a 25 year warranty.

We are considering solar for the large Victorian farm house we have on the farm as it costs a fortune to heat and cool that 3,500 sq. ft. home.

If your electrician can do it for 9k, I've got a couple dozen homes I'll have him do. Sorry RELH no wzy 9k for szy a 2000 square foot home. You are right about the new construction only

RELH I do know it was for new homes ,my friends with homes with only 1800 square feet were paying $20 -$30 grand , some paid cash so they would not be strapped with like having a second on there mortgage, I don't like the idea of a State telling me what I need on my roof.

LAST EDITED ON May-14-18 AT 00:39AM (MST)[p]If you paid 20-30 grand, you got ripped off. There is fly by night solar companies out there.
My electrician has a solid reputation and has been installing solar for several years. He gave us a quote of just over 9 grand for 9 panels installed and hooked up. He advised 9 would be needed due to tall pine trees blocking the sun for several hours during the day.

RELH
The quote for 9 grand was for our home in the Sierra foothills, not the 3500 sq. ft. farm home. That home is over 2,000 sq, ft.

Thats one hell of a bargain. Can i have you pm me his phone number? Appreciate it RELH. Thanks

Yeah, here in Eureka the sun was out for about an hour Saturday and almost a half hour yesterday. Typical summer pattern. And then we have winter. Mandatory solar power will be just great.

As far as the ?International Workers? Day?, it fits right in with the Progressive agenda. Try to erase our history. The only people who get those days off are city, county, state, and federal employees. The rest of us have to work so we can pay their holiday pay.

Since the rest of us will work that day I will take a deduction for child care ?

YBO where are you located. If you are out of our area, Shaun may not help you as he is busy on jobs in the Loma Rica area that had a terrible forest fire last year and home owners are rebuilding.
Also our oldest son has solar on his new home. It was installed free by the company and is fully maintained by the solar company. He pays about $135.00 electric bill per month to the solar company and they keep any profits from PGE. Many home owners in his sub-division have taken this option with home solar.

Sounds like you need to do some calling around to different companies and if you find a reasonable priced one, be sure to check referrals to make sure they are not a fly by night rip off.

I just got back from Hawaii fishing for Blue Marlin and Mahi Mahi and you guys are speaking my language. I'm an electrical contractor in the central valley of Cali and I install solar. The going rate around here is about $1,000 per panel for smaller systems and a little less as you add panels. 9 panels is a tiny system. My guess is the materials were around $4,000 so if a guy installed the system himself or with a helper, he could do it in half a day easy so $9K seems about right.
