That must make you a Democrat. Care to explain the nuts and bolts of how the State of California can offer a Federal Health care plan for the elderly and disabled?

Nemont

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.

I have a sort of unrelated question for the CA people.

I had to work in Ehrenberg, AZ and stayed in Blythe, CA for 4 days a week for 3 months. I would watch the CA news every night. There were TV commercials that encouraged people to see if they qualify for the state EBT welfare service. I couldn't believe they pay for ads for that sort of thing. Do they still do that? Why?

264mag, it must have been a campaign ad. Democrats promise the world during an election year. Sometimes a world they don't even own. It wins elections though.

Looks like they want to do it on the national level as a buy in. I would not be surprised if some liberal CA. Democrat promised it to be free in a campaign add.

In a sign that the Democratic Party is embracing more progressive health care ideas, eight Democratic senators announced Thursday that they were co-sponsoring legislation that would allow people 55 and older to buy in to Medicare.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) introduced the Medicare at 55 Act with the immediate support of Democratic Sens. Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Jeff Merkley (Ore.), Patrick Leahy (Vt.), Jack Reed (R.I.) and Al Franken (Minn.).

The bill, which would allow Americans aged 55 to 64 to purchase Medicare coverage, reflects the growing influence of progressive activists who are pushing for a single-payer health care system they dub ?Medicare for all.?

Although the bill stops short of making Medicare universal, its embrace of expanded public health insurance, rather than the private model at the heart of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, marks a distinct leftward shift for the party.

?People between the ages of 55 and 64 often have more health problems and face higher health care costs but aren't yet eligible for Medicare,? Stabenow said in a statement. ?If you live in Michigan, are 58 years old, and are having a hard time finding coverage that works for you, this bill will let you buy into Medicare before you turn 65.?

?Our legislation is one way we can work together on a bipartisan basis to lower health care and prescription drug costs,? she added.

Sen. Stabenow, who is up for reelection in 2018, introduced the bill on Thursday.

Joshua Roberts / Reuters

Sen. Stabenow, who is up for reelection in 2018, introduced the bill on Thursday.

Stabenow?s office suggests the new bill would likely generate cost savings for those between the ages of 55 and 64, since private insurers are permitted to charge that cohort three times the rates of their younger peers due to the generally higher cost of providing them coverage. Americans aged 55 to 64, on average, pay more than $1,200 a year in out-of-pocket medical costs that Medicare would alleviate, according to the Health Care Cost Institute.

The bill would likely also relieve financial strain on Obamacare?s individual insurance exchanges by enabling the departure of some of its most expensive customers. The exchanges are facing mounting problems as insurers withdraw from some areas and increase premiums in others to offset the cost of covering more sick people than they had before Obamacare?s passage.

Stabenow?s bill echoes a similar effort underway in the House of Representatives. In July, Democratic Reps. Jon Larson (Conn.), Brian Higgins (N.Y.) and Joe Courtney (Conn.) announced that they would be introducing the Medicare Buy-In and Health Care Stabilization Act. The bill would permit Americans aged 50 or older to buy in to Medicare for as little as $8,212 a year ― a significant savings for a 60-year-old currently purchasing a high-ranking ?gold? plan on the exchange for an estimated $13,308, according to the congressmen?s offices.

The legislation, which they plan to formally introduce in September, would also allot funding and take other measures to stabilize the exchanges. Including Larson, Higgins and Courtney, the bill currently has 15 co-sponsors.

Captain Coues, you can drive up and down the highways here in this shithole and see billboards advertising it too. Also, city buses have it and guess what... it's in Spanish.

You can make up what ever you want about me if that makes you feel special. The difference is that it isn't true unlike you being lying sack of shyt, which is true.

California is one State that actively recruits dependent wards of the State. There's big money in it for one thing. It takes a lot of government employees to serve all these poor deprived folks.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-18 AT 07:24PM (MST)[p]Nemont you do realize that once sponsored, it will not go away and will come up again with the Democrats. They never let a freebie waste away.

RELH

Nemont I just saw a campaign ad for Diane Finestein on T.V. She is promising medicare health insurance for all persons age 55 and older. Like I said, Democrats will promise the moon for a single vote even if it bankrupts this country. This will be an issue in the future for the Democrat party platform, you can count on it.

LAST EDITED ON May-24-18 AT 07:26AM (MST)[p]No it doesn't, if no action is taken in committee it dies. Then when this term of congress ends the bill is null and void.

It is purely a political stunt, nothing more nothing less. It can't get out of committee for a vote, ergo it is a dead issue.

So we can expect the transfer of public lands to remain in the Republican platform that you support?

Start with number one post and work your way down, take your time.

It is funny how little the clown show understands how our system actually works.

Here is a question, if Medicare is so bad why does RELH cling to it like grim death when there are private plans available to him? Why would he want to deny other the taxpayer paid coverage he enjoys?

The age 55 medicare eligibility is a dead issue because of the fiscal problems facing the country. Until we can elect some real conservatives who, unlike the clown show here, care about the future of the country they are not expanding medicare.

Take that to the bank.

Nemont

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.

Nemont since I was forced to go on medicare, I cling now to it because it is far cheaper then going on private health insurance at my age. In other words those health insurance companies you work for are ripping off the people with outrageous premiums. You are a blood sucker along with your insurance companies.

RELH

LAST EDITED ON May-24-18 AT 10:06AM (MST)[p]If I am a blood sucker? You are pig at the trough of the taxpayer paid health plan.

What you are saying is that the Taxpayer paid health insurance you enjoy is cheaper for you but you wouldn't want anyone else to have such a benefit.

That is the typical response from the boomers, once they get their government cheese they don't want anyone else to ever get a part of it.

If it is great for you and cheaper and insurance companies are ripping people off then why would you oppose somebody age 55 to get on the government plan to avoid getting ripped off? Or somebody age 45 or 35? Seems like you enjoy the taxpayer paid health care and don't much give a damn about anyone but yourself.

Nemont

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.

Boy, you sure know how to twist things. We have reached the point of expecting that from you. Those younger persons you talked about will be able to get cheaper insurance then older seniors could and you know that.
Maybe if you and the insurance companies would cut your profit level to a reasonable amount, more citizens might have better insurance at a cost they could afford.

If you agree to cut your high profit you make selling health insurance to boomers, I will agree to lower the age for medicare. Now I will wait for your twist as you do not want to give up one penny of your blood money.

RELH

You truly are a dunce, you just told me that insurance companies and I are ripping people off. That is why you had to go on the government dole. Now you are saying those younger people should get insurance from the ones you claim are ripping them off. Which is it?

Why shouldn't you be in the free market for health care like everyone who doesn't qualify for government insurance? Are you disabled or unable to work? Are you just cheap and don't want to pay what it would cost to cover yourself and your family?

Why shouldn't people under age 65 have a chance to get on the gravy train like you are?

Define "high profits", I make what the market bears, why are you against the free market? That is another boomer trait. They pretend to be conservative but have no issue with taking their government cheese.

Nemont

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.

Nemont he is on medicare for the same reason many of us are. We paid into it for 50+ years and we were told during that time at 65 we would then get the benefit. PERIOD No different than any generation before us. And before you say there are more of us boomers taking remember there were more of us boomers paying in all these years. It is government cheese that we paid for. PERIOD!!

Relh the reason he hates medicare is he can't sell that policy and make his commission. He can only sell the supplement at a lower cost. And at that still makes good money selling those to the very people he demeans and bitches about. I am sure he was one happy guy when obamacare said everyone had to get health insurance. More money for him from the tax payers and higher commission because it raised the price of the policy. And nemont don't say you have not got commissions from selling obamacare policies unless you did not sell them at all, if you didn't sell them at all I will apologize. Also please don't feed me the line that you did not get tax payer money for selling obamacare policies because the government paid a good portion of those policy cost and the insurance company paid you from what the government gave them, why would they want to pay you from their money rather the the government paid portion. Also before you put up 50 google searches on how insurance company's have cut back on the commission to brokers for obamacare policies they have payed them and many still do.

Answer me a couple of questions nemont. Did your parents or your wife's parents or even your grandparents collect SS? Please answer yes or no.

Did those same folks go on medicare after they were 65. Again please answer yes or no.

Does your wife get health care through her government job and will she get a pension from said government job or will you have her turn it down? Again please answer yes or no.

Just so you know I don't give a rats a$$ how much you make. I am just tired of you calling everyone liars and takers because we took SS and medicare after paying into it again for 50+ years. You make money off of the boomers by selling supplementary policies for medicare and off the tax payers by selling obamacare policies. PERIOD !!

I look forward to your honest answers to the questions above. One last thing I don't need 20 charts showing how much was paid in vs. how much will be used. It works the same today for boomers as it has for every generation before us.

Ne your so full of sh!t. The free market is fine anf dandy with must of us. RELH put hus life on the line every day he went to work. Thats more than you and i did. He he gets a deserved trough meal, who cares? Are there any insurance companies that you work with that receieve Gov't $$ assistance? If so some of that cha chang is going into your pocket. Right?

Yep because it was a better deal, now why would government subsidized health care be a better deal but you clowns don't want anyone else on it?

Now making money is bad? Yes I sell to boomers, what changes there? Please explain why I should feel bad for solving a boomers coverage needs?

You will take far more than you have ever paid in, Medicare and Social Security are two of the biggest expenses in the Mandatory spending we have to do. Between those programs and the growing interests on the debt there is a sea of red ink coming and the programs need to be either funded with more tax dollars or benefits need to be reduced. Those are facts.

Are you willing to take a cut in benefits to help out your grand children?

No it doesn't work the same because people live longer and there are fewer workers paying in per beneficiary receiving SS and Medicare.

Since Medicare has only been around since 1965 there is only one generation above you that has received Medicare benefits.

So cry me a river if you feel bad for being called a liar and taker, if you are on both medicare and ss and whine about the borrowing and spending we do, then you are both. That is just fact.

Nemont that is about the answer I figured you would give. You don't know me from Adam and still call me a liar and say that I don't care about my grandchildren.

You sir a a hypocrite because I would be willing to bet you did not say one word to your parents about taking SS and medicare.

And for the record I did not attack your family members I simply asked if YOU would allow taking gov. benefits nothing about your family so stick it. You try and make something up so you can use your everyone is bad bull crap. I don't need you to respond about this part as you are totally full of $hit on this. I will even be the better man and apologize to you if you really thought i attacked your family as I did not mean that in any way.

Again I could care less about how much you make. Keep sucking off those you demean and taking that gov. obamacare money. Now you can come back and call me your little names that you use over and over with everyone because you are so much better than the rest of us, I will not respond to your childish name calling after this.
One last thing. There was a time I enjoyed reading your post they were fair and a lot were informative. But since Trump got in office you have attracted anyone and everyone that does not agree with you with childish name calling and demeaning comments.
I was actually a little shocked at how fast you started calling me all your little names.

I really don't need to carry this on any longer as I know already what your response will be. So let just leave it at that and you do not need to respond

So have a good day.

Now I am full of Shyt. There are free market health plans that don't have taxpayer money funding them available. RELH said he likes his Medicare because it is a better deal than what the free market can provide.

No none of that cha chang goes in my pocket. You are clueless as to how the system actually works. The biggest bulk of my revenue comes from my consulting business, paid directly from the clients to me.

Tell me this, how much do we need to borrow and spend so boomers are taken care of and their grand children are in a debt hole without hope of ever getting out of it? Mandatory spending is going to destroy this country. Social Security, Medicare and interest on the debt are the biggest components of the mandatory budget.

At some point soon it won't matter what people think they are owed the system or the next generation will force a change. Then it will be too late.

>Yes I sell to boomers,

>Where does saying I don't give a rats a$$ how much you make say making money is bad. I said you make money sell boomers supplement plans and you do but you still belittle them. Stop putting words out there I did not say

>NOPE. the same as the folks before me were not willing. There goes the grand children thing again. One more time there are many areas cut spending and you know it.

>No it doesn't work the same
>because people live longer and
>there are fewer workers paying

>and Medicare.

>The system works the same people living longer does not change that. pay in until 65 then take out. I agree if you live long enough you take out more but there are many that die before they get to 65 and many that die soon after

>Since Medicare has only been around
>since 1965 there is only

>I don't feel bad you called me that in fact I expected it. I do feel bad that Trump's election has turned you into such a hateful person, you used to be very likable guy and again I used to look forward to your posts. And just so we are clear I DO NOT agree with everything Trump does or says and I wanted him to veto the last spending bill.
In fact I don't have any idea how I will vote next election. I don't believe in so many things the dems. do but we send repub.and they pull the bs they have this past year. I might just skip voting, write someone in or see who is running as a third party.
This is what I wish.....I wish it was goose season so I could go out and kill a couple and not play internet games about politics.
>And once again you do not have to respond but we both know you can't just let it stand and have to have the last say so knock yourself out.

One last thing after rereading my original post I could/should have written it in more general terms and not so much like I was attacking you that was not my intent, so sorry about that.
