Ram Horn Question

So I've heard that on some rams when you boil the head the horns may come "unthreaded" and fall apart, Is this true? If so what species does this occur on??? I just recently shot a Corsican Ram here in Utah and don't want it getting messed up, Any info will be greatly appreciated!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-19-12 AT 01:56AM (MST)[p]i cut and pasted this from ZEKE on another post: Soak them in a tub of water for a couple days then Cut between the sheath and the core as deeply as you can get a knife, put them in a plastic bag for a few days, room temp, remove from the bag and drop them on the cement floor. The sheaths should pop off.

The bag will keep the horns moist and allow them to "rot" inside so they can be removed for thorough cleaning and bleaching and re-attached with glue. Be sure to clean the inside of the sheaths too, not just the outside of the cores.

i also bumped a thread to the top with a little more info
