Just completed my first L/S African Lion mount. The hunter was 85 years old when he killed this big cat. The lion was charging and he dropped him at 60 yards. Really a great story behind it.

I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. What do you guys and gals think?

Looks good!

Do you have a head on shot showing both eyes?
Can't judge any cat mount without that shot.
I've seen cats look good from the side, but when the eye symmetry is even a little off, it blows the whole mount.

Very Nice. Would love to do a lion hunt in my life but until I win the lottery that I don't play I won't be able too. Great mount.

Looks great - and like the other poster mentioned when it comes to cats if the eyes are off even a little bit the mount just loses it. This one is spot on!!

You need to post up some more of your work, so far its all been excellent. Do you have any pronghorn antelope to post??

As has been mentioned, if a cat's eyes don't focus in parallel, the rest of the mount loses its beauty --- yours look dead-on to me!

I've got a question that's always intrigued me (an honest comment, not meant as a slam). Why do so many artificial jaw sets leave the taxidermist in pristine shape? Wouldn't a predator's teeth show signs of tartar, etc.? Would seem more life-like to me.

Again, one sweet mount ...

For muley mounts look at the Oregon buck in the taxidermy forum.

Thanks for the compliment.
You are right about the jaw sets, etc. It's a catch 22, some people want the pristine look and others like the look as the animal naturally was.
Same with scars, etc. on animals. Some want them gone and some not.

Great Work! I want one of those. I would love to see what my dog did if I put that in my living room. She freaks out at Deer heads.

Thanks for your compliments. I strive for perfection, it doesn't always happen because I get so many crtitters that have not been cared for properly (you wouldn't believe the crap I get), but I work hard at it. It's my job and I take it very seriously!
