Floor Pedestal Mount

Ok, so I do chainsaw carvings and I started carving an end table out of a solid piece of Red Cedar. The more I looked at it, the more I thought it would look good as a base for a deer pedestal mount or other animal. I will show you all as soon as I am finished. I have seen items similar to this before on here, but I feel I have a little something different to offer. The question is.....Does the Taxidermist usually buy the pedestals and pass the cost on to the customer or does the customer usually round up something like this and purchase to take to the taxidermist? Just wondering what the best way to get them shown to people is? I am sure a lot of Taxidermist do all there own work, but I would imagine a lot of them don't have time to mess with it. I would venture a guess that most taxidermists order pedestals through catalogs. I've worked with several taxidermists and some of them use particular pedestals they purchase, some make their own, while some clients bring in their own. You might bring some of your carving by your local taxidermists to see if they are interested.

If you are seriously considering selling pedestals you could create your own website. If you look to the left of this post you will likely see such a site (Hobble Creek Woods). You could also sell them on Craigslist, Ebay, taxidermy.net, and other website classified adds. Obviuosly the costs associated with freight are astronomical so that is also a consideration.

Just wondering if you ended up posting pictures on the chainsaw carving you were working on last summer? My father in law chainsaw carves and I have been looking for ideas that would look good for a couple of mounts I need to get done
