Don't ever boil a skull. Euros are easy to do using beetles on a velvet rack. No cutting, no having to reattach and you'll get the best product out there.

You have to cut the antlers off on a velvet, beetles will eat the velvet and when degreasing you will ruin the velvet

I would like to know if beetles would eat the velvet, I would think so does anyone know for sure.

They do, fresh or old dried out stuff, they eat it faster than the meat on the skulls

Maybe MuleyMinor meant simmer?

Assuming the skull has had ample time to macerate, you shouldn't need to simmer for more than a half hour or so. Then on to the degreasing process.

For those with beetles, interesting to know how you guys cover the antlers or prevent damage to the velvet?
