Ear liner question

I've got a question I've been using magic smooth for my ear liners and have had mixed results. It's very thick and a little hard to mix but when I get it on the liners I'm having trouble spreading it evenly and have had a few ears drum a little. My question is do any of you use magic smooth and if so is there a trick to thinning it without sacrificing adhesion or what are some other good ear adhesives to try?

I use pro 1 glue works great as long as liner fits I usually trace my ear cartilage on liner. Your drumming is prob because your ear is wet or liner is to big both can give you issues no matter what glue you use. Try to wipe ear with acetone then blow dry you don't want it crispy dry but cant be wet hope this helps.

Thanks for the input I haven't thought about drying the ears but I have been dipping the liners in acetone then rolling them in saw dust and test fitting them. I've had a few of them turn out really good but never gave any thought to how dry the skin was so maybe that's the problem. I appreciate your advice. Any ideas on how to repair small areas of drumming or is it a lost cause?

there are many ways to do ears if you are in the salt lake area I would be happy to show you my method. Just let me know as for the drumming yes you can still fix them just rehydrate that area and inject with a big syringe you can use hide past or supper glue I have even used laytex calk with good results you may need to card it after you inject but it is def not a lost cause easy fix. I would forget about the sawdust and just wipe liner down with acetone then scratch the liner up really good with a mini stout ruffer and sand paper

I have used magic smooth as well as just about anything else you can think of. Like jerjud said. Make sure you degrease and completely dry the ear. And also make sure the the ear liner is slightly smaller than the ear. It will drum every time if the liner is too big no matter what adhesive you are using.

Thank you both for the input. I appreciate any advice I can get. I've been messing with taxidermy for a few years now and I'm just trying to improve wherever I can. I really wasn't happy with my bondo ears so I'd really like to learn how to use the liners. JerJud I'm out in tooele so maybe I'll have to get with you some time and see your method. Thanks again I appreciate all the advice.
