My taxidermist recommended that I skin my sheep with a Dorsal cut for full body mount. He showed me where to make cuts but I need more info as I don't wanna ruin cape. I've searched youtube for video but there is nothing. Anyone know where I can watch video of this skinning method ?
No.....haven't killed my sheep yet as season doesn't open till December 1st.

Here's a pretty good video on a regular sheep. I usually boot each leg rather than make a cut like they did in the video but the cut down each lower leg makes it a lot quicker and easier. It's just one more stitch your taxidermist will have to stitch.

It's actually pretty simple to do a lifesized cape. Skin the head just like you would for a head mount. Do you have any particular questions?

I would suggest bringing some paper towels to place in the nose/mouth and bullet holes so blood doesn't spread as easy to the cape. If at all possible don't put the cape in a plastic garbage bag. I usually put the cape in a game bag and don't allow the cape to get wet (from melting ice).

Jims....Thanks for the clip link and tips on blood issues. I will make sure not to put cape in plastic bag and I will keep it dry.

It's fairy simple. Cut from base of tail to the back of skull. Peal down everything till you get to the elbow joint and separate the joints leaving the leg bone attached. There is only one cut you need to make on the skin and that's base of tail to skull.

Dirtbag, What state? My season also starts Dec. 1st in CO.
Skinning is fairly easy as the YouTube shows. Keeping the meat clean is the hardest part.
Best of luck to you on your hunt.
