Vortex Optics LRBC Giveaway

Vortex Optics just launched its new Long Range Ballistics Calculator (LRBC) and custom Trajectory Matched Turret (TMT) service. To celebrate these NEW and exciting programs, Vortex would like to give away 10 custom turrets to the first 10 MonsterMuleys.com fans to get their Final Validation numbers to me along with contact info to ship the TMT Turret once it's cut.

Requirements: Interested parties must own or acquire a Vortex Riflescope compatible with the TMT System ? Right now that means any Vortex Viper riflescope or Vortex Razor riflescope.

The LRBC and TMT turrets go hand in hand ? you can't use one without the other. Use the calculator, get familiar with it, and get your final numbers. Once you have your numbers, email me (Brian) at: [email protected]
I will then forward the info. to the guys at Vortex and they will get you taken care of.

Vortex strongly suggests incorporating the Trajectory validating range day to get the most accurate turret possible.

Instructional videos and a printable manual are available via the Vortex Optics Website to help guide you through the process.

So, who wants the free turrets? Post a note here and let me know so that I know when we hit our 10 people. Also, as you go through the process of getting your numbers, let us know how the process goes.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-11-10 AT 06:16AM (MST)[p]Brian, I sent you my info.

edit. I deleted my email since you didn't open it. I tried to send you the updated info and now it's rejecting my email. I will pm you my info.

My bro bought a pair of Vortex binos and that company has been outstanding in their customer service. I've never used their products but from what I've seen...they take care of their buyers.

Hello,

I emailed you all my data, including range day numbers.

Thanks!!!

Well, the hardest part was finding a safe place to shoot 500 yards. Urban sprawl sucks.

The whole process was fairly painless. I entered all my data into the program. Factory loaded Hornady 139 grain Interbond - 7Mag- 2125 feet elevation, 75 degrees, 16% humidity, etc.

I zeroed at 200 yards and using the drop chart that the program printed, I adjusted 35 clicks up to shoot at 490 yards. This is where I had a small problem.

35 clicks was WAY high. Like off the target high. I got lucky as my second shot dead centered the trunk of a large cholla and I saw it explode and fall over. The cholla was a good 20 yards behind the target, so I knew I was shooting high. I adjust down 15 clicks and was hitting about 6 inches low. made 4 clicks up and was right on the elevation.

At $45+ a box, I quit shooting right there.

Because I am shooting factory loads right now, I think 500 yards is the far limit of effective range, even with the turrets. Once I get set up to reload, I hope to shrink the groups and get a little more distance. Will probably have to buy a new turrent, but at least now I will have a turret that I can use with readily available factory loads.

torod, You got something messed up there. Without knowing your exact velocity and bc your way off on your numbers. It looks to me like you was looking at 600 yards on the chart and shooting 500. After you made all your changes it sounds like you adjusted 24 clicks which when I put the numbers in your right on the money. I think the info is good you just need to verify it. Copy the page and show us the numbers. It's possible your zero is at 100 also??

Was wondering if there are any turrets left? If so i just got a viper i could use one on.

Lost my password or E-mail or somethin, had to get a new one.
Count me in. I just got a 6.5-20x50 viper. I should be running it through the chrono this weekend for final numbers.

I would like to get one for my viper 6.5x20x50 if there are still some available. I'll get my specs emailed to you asap.

Thanks,
Phil

Sent in my numbers after some time at the range yesterday. After putting in all my specifics the LRBC worked great and I was withing one or two clicks all through out the range from 100 to 600 yards. Hopefully I got them sent to you in time!

Brian, how many sets are still available? I have the viper 6X20X44 and am interested. Plus I have my data.

I received mine and was able to go test it out. It works great. My dad liked my new setup so much he used it on his Rocky Mountain Goat hunt. Just got back from Willard Peak. It was a one shot kill with the Browning 7mm-08 and viper set-up.

Brian,
Can you let me know if I got my information to you in time? I am planning on ordering one of the turrets through vortex if I didn't make it as one of the first ten.

Thanks,
Phil
