The best digiscoping setup for quality and price...

So, I was talking to a guy on a different forum and he was telling me about his digiscoping setup. Once I saw it, it looked like a great setup to me so I decided to get it also.

1. I first bought a Canon A2200: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Canon+-...218306949830&skuId=2044265&st=a2200&cp=1&lp=4

2. Then I bought a Tines Up scope cam adapter and got it for my Swaro with 37mm threads. It won't let me write Tines Up as one word, so when you put it in your address bar, take that space out: http://www.tines up.com/catalog/item/7381735/7696183.htm

3. Then I bought one of these Zeikos adapters: http://www.amazon.com/Zeikos-Univer...MZTE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306362115&sr=8-1

So here is a picture of all three of those items:

Then you attach the Zeikos adapter onto your camera (it screws onto the bottom):

Then you just screw the Tines Up adapter onto the Zeikos adapter:

It works so slick. The whole set up was about 230$. If you buy the setup from Tines Up then it's 360$. I would rather pay the $230 personally lol... If you have any questions or would like to get one I would be happy to help you out.

I'd like to see some photos and videos that you get out of that setup. Will that work for any scope and camera setup you think? My cameras do not have telephoto lenses as they are waterproof. Of course they do have optical zoom though, just no moving parts on the outside.

I'm not gonna be able to take pictures or video thru the swaro till tomorrow, but I tested it out on a small little Nikon ED50 I have and here is a picture and video with it. The tree is 570 yards away and it was kinda windy. Most of the movement was just from me holding it. I won't move at all on the Swaro because I'll slide the Tines Up thing over the eye piece... It'll be a lot better with the Swaro.

The Tines Up adapter doesn't fit on the Nikon but the pictures are still really good thru it. I'll send you some pictures next week of some bucks/elk I take pictures of this week because I'm heading out to the mountains this week...

And it'll work on any camera as long as the lenses aren't too wide. It would work perfectly on your cameras as long as you have the little screw on the bottom of the camera like this:

And it'll work on any scope. If Tines Up doesn't have your scope listed on their site, just email them and they can make one for you...

Thanks for the info. That little adapter is exactly what I've been looking for to attach my point and shoot Cannon. Just ordered one.

LAST EDITED ON May-26-11 AT 04:18PM (MST)[p]For taking still photos it is best to use a 2 second timer that will give your setup time to stabalize. These scope cams are the sweetest way and most affordable way to digiscope.

Alo the reason it's a little bit more on TU is because the camera it comes with is more expensive and you get a case sd card and other stuff included.

So did you by the scope cam to fit the Zeikos adapter, I am assuming?

"Half of being smart, is knowing what you're dumb about."

Yes. Any of the 37mm scope cam adapters work with the Zeikos adapter.

Does the screw hole on bottom of camera have to be centered directly below, lens? Or can it be used off kilter?

Has anyone seen my kittie?

It doesn't have to be centered. The Zeikos adapter has a hinge kinda so you can angle to to be centered around the lense.

Since you have this picture posting down would you mind posting a picture of your rig on your scope?

I am asuming if you leave the Zeikos on the camera full time it will still work fine for the bow and smile shot?

Any one who knows me will LOL that I am asking a camera question.. I take with out a doupt the worst pictures of any one in the hunting world. When the wife down loads our 9 year old digital she says "oh you were using that green scope of yours again"....what is it? Help a idiot if you have time.

Here is a picture of it on my scope...

And yes you can take pictures like normal if you leave the Zeikos adapter on that camera...

Hubba, Thank you for this post. Where were you a few years ago when I bought the freaking Swarovski Digital Camera Adaptor for $259?

The stuff you and the ##### guys are doing is the right approach. After trying all kinds of different set ups, I finally bit the bullet and bought the Swarovski. What you and ##### are doing is an economical common sense approach. If I'd known about it a couple years ago I would have gone your direction.

I still think the swarovski DCA might be the best but the price will make your eyes water. It is also difficult to find point and shoot cameras that work with the DCA. There are a very limited number with adaptor threads.

I'm going to buy that zeikos adaptor and if it works with my swaro DCA accessories, I'll probably buy the ##### adaptor and then just sell the swaro on ebay.

I get a ton of satisfaction taking video and photos with my digiscoping setup. Thanks for sharing.

I referenced above that i had tried different options before the swaro dca. This one sold by cabelas is the WORST! If I can save anyone some time and hassle, just don't even try. It is so tempramental and hard to set up it isn't even funny.

No 2 on the crappy list is the Vortex MK1 for the Skyline scopes. What a piece of junk. You can hold the camera steadier by hand.

With this set up, you could remove the Zeikos adapter and thread a video camera onto the Tins up adapter correct? If that is the case then you could use both video and point and shoot camera functionality right? Or am I missing something?

Yes that's correct. The TU adapter is designed for video cameras... The Zeikos adapter just makes it so it'll work with point and shoot cameras too...

A small block of 2x4 and a couple hole saws cut out to fit your lens on ones side and your scope on the other works quite well too.

If any of you guys are interested to see what the quality is like thru my scope cam, check out my blog. I just put some new pictures/videos up. All of those pictures/videos of bulls were from around 2000 yards away...
