How many of you use the OnxMaps? I bought it this last year to try it out. but the beef I have with this is that the CWMU boundaries are way off, or not accurate at all in my neck of the woods. Its a good thing I know the CWMU that I hunt for cow elk pretty well but according to the ONxmaps I could have hunted 1000 or more acres that are not in a CWMU. Does anyone else know if the maps are inaccurate in your area.

When I hunted Utah I pulled the map off the dept web site and stuck it in my gps. Pretty sure that's where OnX gets it too.

They're for reference only....

"This map is provided for general reference only and does not constitute a legal hunt boundary."

I use the NM maps in my Garmin Oregon 450T and it is very accurate. Within 2-3ft, usually less.
I have checked ranch boundaries with another GPS I have,Magellan,to see how accurate both are.I did this again while I was having my place surveyed. Both were spot on and jibed with the surveyors gear & electronics.I knew where the USGS cornermarkers where & that really helped to check accuracy.
Only drawback I have found is my county is only one in NM that does not give property owners name in the data base. That's on the county, not onxmaps folks.

I have only used mine in Utah. Seems pretty accurate. Just a pain for me to update. Can't ever get a hold of anyone to help. They just send you to there email no real person to talk to.

The nm version is completely off in many areas. I have brought this to their attention and last year and they said they would correct it. They sent me a new chip and the overlays are off to the east by 200 feet in some areas. They told me to get with the county that disseminates the info on land boundaries and speak with them. I will be going in the next few weeks and see if the counties info is off. Lucky i KNOW my areas and have accurate papermaps and several gps maps that are spot on.

I have an older chip in my older Dakota 20: love it! Need an update but it's killer and wouldn't go without it.

If the county assessor's office does not have accurate info then neither will the chip. I know some state land that is shown as private on the Wyoming chip and it keeps plenty of folks from finding it.They have also shown private as public and caused G&F to have to put up signs on the private.

They are accurate enough that the fish and game asked if I had a gps with maps, I replied yep. And that was all he needed to see. Good enough for me.
