LAST EDITED ON Jan-19-17 AT 11:08AM (MST)[p]As far as wolves in Colorado go, they are already there. I have personally seen two lone males in the last couple of years while out hunting. Before anyone says that what I saw was just a large coyote. I know the difference between a grey wolf and coyote. We are at a crossroads, with the reintroduction of wolves into the eco-system nature is closer to her balancing point. However with all the other predators that keep wolves in balance being gone, there is nothing from stopping the wolves from flourishing. The only thing that can keep them in check is the agency in charge of them. And with past experience we know that these agencies cannot be trusted to tell the truth let alone do the right thing. Many years ago I was coming out of the Frying Pan wilderness after a hunt and was stopped at a game check station. The warden asked if I minded taking a quick survey. One of the questions that he asked was about the reintroduction of wolves. Being a bit younger and cockier at the time, I told him that I thought it would be great to see wolves in the wild. He then asked me as a hunter why I felt like that. I told him that it would be just one more thing to hunt when I was out in the field. I do not think he found the humor in my statement. However I stand by that statement today. If I see one in the wild will it make it's way into the crosshairs. Just maybe, well absolutely into the crosshairs, with a 2.5lbs squeeze on the trigger, who knows. It might end that way.
