Monroe early tag?

With it being that time of year, I have a question with the Monroe early rifle hunt. My dad has 19 bonus points and has always applied for the early tag. He is now 62 years old and I just wonder if he'll ever even draw it. Is it even worth the time to keep applying for that tag, or would moving towards the late or muzzleloader tag more worth his while?

Had an issue similar to yours only my Dad was 81, and just diagnosed with leukemia. Decided to put in for the muzzy hunt. It was a great hunt...he killed a great bull (365") and had the hunt of his life. He passed away 2 months later. I'm so grateful that we abandoned the early rifle. I honestly don't think he would have killed any better bull with a rifle. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Go with the muzzy tag...Monroe is about as "easy" of a hunt for elk as it gets in Utah. The rut is always nuts up there and the muzzy dates have always been prime.
If you draw hit me up. I can give you some good starting points.
