I have 3 main rifle now. Remington .280 700 bolt, Remington 7600 30-06 7600 pump and tikka 300 win mag bolt.

I see no purpose in the 30-06 now? I like it but the .280 and 300 win mag can cover everything. Especially since it is a pump (not as accurate).

Your thoughts?

probably don't need it, however guns are one of those items that once sold its gone. If it has any sentimental value to you in anyway keep it. I learned that the hard way, by selling a gun I wish I still had.

My Dad wanted to buy a new gun a few years ago, he had his 30-06 Remington pump he bought as a kid with his own money. Didn't have the funds for a new one without selling. So I gave money to a friend of the family to go buy his gun. Dad was real sad to see it go but was glad it was going to a friend that would take care of it.
A few months later when I was able to get back home for a visit, the family friend came over to the house. He told Dad he had a small gift for him. Dad was so happy to learn his gun was really never sold and to get it back. That gun will never be sold now as long as I am alive...

sure you need it. What have you killed with it? One can never have to many guns. Keep it for the memories that you've made with it. Get some kid involved in hunting and let him borrow it. Yes, you're covered with the other calibers but to me it's fun to have multiple different calibers to play around with.

I couldn't agree more^^^ And a great story to boot!!!

I would keep it because no matter where you go you can find ammo for that gun Also you can get it and several grains from coyotes to Any big game animal you want So that is a good reason to keep it

LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-17 AT 08:17PM (MST)[p]I still have my grampa's old 30.30 lever action/Octagon barrel.....Yeh--hell of a classic-----

Sure~~ I take it out now and then for a dark timber, 50--75 yards elk gun on the Gen rifle hunt, I just love the memories of using it.

Iron sights for old school hunting.

I bought this same gun when I was 18 and it kicks like a mule and not very accurate. I haven't shot it for about 20 years but I will never sell it.My 3 boys still talk about how hard it kicks

LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-17 AT 06:24PM (MST)[p]I have 3 06's, killed a few elk with one, my niece killed her first with one this fall. Why sell it, is it costing you something?

And it probably shoots better than most folks could shoot it.
