I have a garmin rhino 650 GPS. I just downloaded on x maps. Are there any benefits to using Xmaps over the rhino. Is Xmaps worth a dang when you don't have reception? Also, does Garmin make a rhino charger with a USB on one end? I have a dark energy charging device I use in the mountains. However, I need a USB in order to charge things. I have one for the phone, but not for the Rhino, and cannot find one. Any help would be great, thanks.

I use the same setup in the rhino and it still works pretty good regardless of reception. as far as the charger your out of luck, one port is for updating your rhino and the other is charging, you can buy an extra battery or the alkaline battery pack for a rhino. hope that helps

I'm not familiar Onx Maps but with most cell phone mapping apps you just need to download the maps before you lose service, preferably while you're still have access to Wi-Fi.
The GPS operates independently of cell service, but it needs a map to show your location on.

I use Backcountry Navigator and download maps all the time and it works fine.

i ment to say oxmaps works well on the phone without reception.

I have a power point charger (cigarette lighter charger ) for my Rhino. My goal zero came with a 12 volt cigarette type charger with it . I also carry a extra battery in my pack. Depending on how much you use the radio. I can get 3 or 4 days out of a battery. Turning it off a night of course. My phone goes dead fast enough just using it to take pictures threw my Phonescope.
