Rob Bishop is asking for $50 million in taxpayer money to fund the transfer of public lands. Not only does this seem ridiculous to need $50 million to do so, but he is essentially asking you to not only give up your public lands, but pay to have them a step closer to sale.

Please contact your representative and tell them you do not support the transfer of public lands nor Rob Bishops request for $50 million to go towards that effort.

Contact your reps here: 202-224-3121

If you want to take the extra step after contacting your representatives here is an email to the budget committee: [email protected] and their phone number is 202-226-7270, just let them know you want to leave a comment for the budget committee.

If you would like to call Rob Bishops office as well on the issue his offices number is:
801-625-0107

Together we can make some positive change here. We need to get this transfer idea thrown out and advocate for better collaboration to help the current system be fixed, better funded, and work. Thanks to everyone staying involved, it can feel tiring or worthless at times, but it is not and will be worth it in the long run.

The best we can do is contact our reps and continue to make our voices heard. It's easy to get very frustrated especially in Utah, but we need to keep working at it.

SO lets get this straight the US government doesn't sell public property????????

I find your priorities humorous. You have a state agency that you think will sell public land to raise revenue within the state so you don't want them to control it. So instead you choose the government entity which YOU THINK won't sell public land to generate revenue but instead will print money WHICH IS THE SAME AS STEALING MONEY RIGHT OUT OF YOUR POCKET.

SO you have your choice, and we see witch one you choose, of laying in bed with a person who you are scared is going to cut you out of low price outdoor hobbies, OR THE GUYS THAT ARE GOING TO SCREW YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE.

I've seen several posts over the last several weeks on this topic, mainly opposition to Rob Bishop and the PLI proposal. I figured it was time to call my congressman. So I went to the PLI website. Couldn't make it through the 215 page bill without falling asleep, but I read the summary, the FAQ's, and several of the other links.

The summary mentions "1.4 million acres Bears Ears received permanent congressional reservation designation...formation of a PLI advisory committee..." And this one, which I think is a big point of contention, "...state/federal land exchange will follow more recent language and procedures..."

Of course, the websites below will paint the picture to support their cause. So, can someone please help me understand the opposition a little better before I call?

Thanks.

Essentially Joe2Cool if you enjoy public lands specifcally BLM and Forest Service lands especially the access they provide, then this push we are seeing to transfer these lands is a dangerous step towards selling those places and locking you out. If those lands are transferred to the states they will likely be sold or a lot of them will slowly be. We all have or favorite spots, I don't want to see mine auctioned off to the highest bidder. Rob Bishop is asking for $50 million to facilitate the transfer of our BLM and Forest service to the states who cannot afford the costs to manage them and then will have to sale them. I don't support $50 million in my tax money going towards selling the places that make the west and our state so great. If you are looking for a general statement just let your representatives know you do not support the transfer or sale of our public lands nor the $50 million Rob Bishop is asking for to go toward a transfer.

As are many, try again tomorrow! Also contact your other representatives as well. Changing Bishops mind is near to impossible, so it's important others hear from us. I would say call his secretary tomorrow before his office closes and voice your concerns as well.

Thanks Oneye. Thanks Grizz. I agree. Transfer to states is a bid idea. Transfer of BLM law enforcement to local agencies is also a bad idea.

I have hunted BLM, Federal, and State lands many times, and would hate to see it disappear.

Thanks again.
