California Guns laws shot down

I am hearing rumors that the new gun laws were shot down last week by one of Trumps new additions..

Anyone know anything about this? I hear that the belly button law for semi automatics, over size magazines, lead bullets and fishing lead weights were all taken off the books. I believe they said that these were back room deals enacted in the middle of the night. They could not be defended so they were removed.

If this is all true then it is a glorious day in Kali as I for one am so happy I could just .......

Anyone with any info on this would be appreciated I just want to confirm the action taken....

Your post is the first I've heard of this. I wish/hope it's accurate but am doubtful. What I do know is that lawsuits are waiting to be filed to have these overturned. There is a coalition on outdoors groups ready to fight this in court, but my understanding is that they have to wait for the laws to take effect first.

uh.....the Trump administration .....any part of it....cannot just over rule california law.

But He's the Boss Now Homer!

Somebody needs to tell this to Trump

There was a midnight order that Obama signed his last week (day?) in office prohibiting lead on federal lands. If that's what this is about (haven't heard anything myself), then Trump certainly does have the authority to overturn that one.

A quick google search did not reveal any presidential actions concerning guns, ammo, etc. in California.

Trump can't make CA do anything.....but maybe he can make them wish they did.

Obama threatened to cut off education funding to states that didn't provide transgender bathrooms in schools.

Ok guys here is what I have on the matter. Today I got my new issue of Western Outdoors and on the front page it reads as follows;;;;

BAN ON LEAD AMMO, TACKLE REVERSED BY INTERIOR SEC. ZINKE

It goes on to say the following...
Order 3346 overturned lead ammunition and fishing tackle bans on Fish and Wildlife Service lands water and facilities.
The second order 3347 advanced conversation stewardship, improves outdoor recreation opportunities by directing bureaus and agencies to immediately identify areas where recreation and fishing can be expanded.

It goes on to say Zinke had a 23 year career in the Navy and is from Montana and has been a strong advocate of keeping public lands open to public use.

Later in the same issue it goes on to say that the California Attorney General has pulled the assault weapons law under the State law where bullets buttons are banned.

it was questioned the way the proposal was advanced in the first place, without the 45 day comment period.

What is equally disturbing is how the DOJ tried to push these regulations through in the dark of night with little or no public input.....they actually tried to write new laws into the regulations and thought no one was watching.

It cautions that the legislation requiring the new rules is still in effect with a deadline that all lawfully possessed Bullet Button Assault Weapons must be registered by the end of the year, though the process to be compliant is now in limbo with the withdrawal of proposed rules.

Now if they can overturn the ammunition law that will require us to register to buy ammo it will be a complete victory for California hunters.

who wrote that article???.....Manny?

NOTHING that the US Interior department does or says will affect California state law on bullet buttons or nonlead ammo requirements....

....yes, Zinke's actions might help 49 states....but California is not one of them.

Western Outdoor News wrote the article on the front page of this weeks issue.

It states this is for all federal lands and the bullet button ban is specific to California.

Homer,

Keep fighting the fight. Sad display of the failure of our education system and teaching of how our Representative Republic was designed to work or that the Constitution was a limiting Document.

Maybe a quick review of the 10th Amendment within the bill of rights would help some here understand why it can be that Trump's DOJ doesn't get to tell California what to do.

10 Amendment Text:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Right......but you act like you'll now be able to use lead on federal lands in california...despite california's ban.....

You can't

Right but I now don't have to register my .22 and a couple of other guns I have that have detachable clips or belly buttons as assault rifles.
From the sounds of it some of these draconian laws will be shot down eventually as they were not done in the proper fashion giving the public time to comment.

yeah right.....you're delusional.

....

It's a button on the bottom side of the rifle that you push to take the clip out and exchange it with another.

In California they want you to use .22 that have the tube feed so they can't reload so fast and no more that 10 shot clips allowed

Wiki says different.

A friend I used to work with has a gun rack in the back window of his truck. He got a cardboard cut out of an "assault rifle" that obviously has a 30 round magazine attached.

He gets pulled over about twice a week. He gets great pleasure in it.

What Interior Secretary Zinke did was withdraw the US Fish and Wildlife Service regulation that was put forth by former director, Dan Ashe, on one of his last days in office that prohibited the use of lead on Federal lands. Zinke negated that regulation, and it does apply to all federal lands not already restricted by California laws.

My understanding is that as soon as the Prop 63 laws take effect, which I believe will be on July 1 (though I could definitely be wrong) there are a coalition of groups ready to sue to have those laws invalidated. The explanation I was given is that these laws have to actually take effect for the suit to be filed to invalidate them.
