Three of my friends and I have 6pps for Wyoming mule deer, sitting out this year seems to be what the buzz is around the general areas. It also looks like they have cut nr tags also. Does anyone think it would even be worth a try?

Sitting out because the winter kill? Most everybody says the mature bucks came through alright. If anything the time to sit out will be the next 2-4 years while the heards age.

The largest majority of deer that were lost to this year's winter were the fawns of last year and the upcoming fawn crop. That will leave a gap in mature deer in 4-5 years, and there is no guarantee that next winter will be any better. I would use your points now.

Yep, use your points this season with a good chance at a nice buck like the others stated. Then if you want to hunt in the future you can start buying PPs again and by the time you can draw another tag with them maybe the herd will have rebounded with more good bucks.

I wouldn't put in either till you at least have 20 lol. Myself and my cousin are using our ten points on a 4th season tag. Not getting any younger either.

I'm keeping my points this year. I'll go second choice. Mostly due to scheduling conflict. Next year I plan on hitting G. I think like some have said, you'd most likely see the major affect in 2-4 years, when all those fawns would have started to mature. I think next year should be ok, hopefully some of those up and coming, nearly mature, healthy bucks will still be around. Well that's what I have myself talked into.

If you are looking for a muture buck then I would apply. the 3-5 year old bucks have made the winter just fine. But watch out for some shortened seasons

First honestly don't think it is going to be as bad as everyone thinks as alot that deer population migrates to the Red Desert. I just wish they would put a points restriction on most areas in the state that way we could get some mature bucks in the rest of the state. Check out the area west of Cheyenne there are some monster bucks in the Vedawoo state park.
