Yes,I Understand You Can Kill an Elk with a Red Ryder!

I Understand letting the Dad back in to the Draw One Year Early Saves Money,Head-Aches,Paper Work & Etc!

But Come On Man!

Make Em Pay their Dues!

If They Had Turned Their-selves in I Might Side with You!

OK!

I'll Be Nice Now!

One Question Though 10r?

Did the Person that Turned them in receive a Coveted Late Cow Tag for the Reward?

Or at least clean the elk you have dead on the ground. Even if it's a dumb mistake. You don't leave dead elk in the field ungutted. Clean up your mess then call the game warden so the meat can be used. The got caught by someone turning them in and then they cooperated with the officers. That was there second mistake. The first was wasting the elk. I say serve the time. But John was pretty good to him I thought.

That sounds like an interesting discussion. I listened to part of the meeting yesterday but did not hear that discussion. Can someone provide an hour a minute mark for those of us who want to listen? Thanks.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-28-17 AT 09:06AM (MST)[p]Okay, I found the discussion. For those of you that want to watch it, it was at 1:16 - 1:28 of the Part II of the meeting. That was a bad situation that was brought about by some poor decisions by the hunters. The Board was divided on the issue and Bair cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the variance. That was a tough decision but I would have probably voted against the variance and sided with Byron Bateman because the hunters wounded or killed 5 at least elk and most importantly they did not self-report the incident. That was a tough issue but I can see why Bair voted the way he did. It is easy to cast judgment on the internet but it is hard to sit in an official position and make decisions that impact the lifes of others.

All the board did was make the 3 year suspension a real 3 year suspension in regards to being able to put in for the draws next January. It didn't change the fact that the guilty party could not obtain a license to hunt for a 3 year period. I've seen hunters "flock" shooting at a herd of cow elk just waiting for one to tip over. They shot over 20 times. I can just imagine how many ended up dying eventually.-- but hey- they finally did get one to fall over ! Pretty irresponsible if you ask me.
ElkAssassin. 10 yrs-- finished out 2 years of an unfinished term and then did 2 more full terms of 4 years each. One WB member will serve more than 6 years because he filled out an unfinished board member term plus a regular 6 year term. They try to keep the rotation of members on the RACs and WB on a regular schedule.

SO what is the ethical difference between flock shooting and long range shooting?

You can get people that say they practice and have the right equipment for both and live in a state of denial that they are wounding animals. Meanwhile a lot of animals suffer and one tag kills more than one animal, and the management of the herds continues to fall apart.

In Tardville a TexASSan can poach a bighorn sheep in a closed unit with no repercussions, what's the big deal about a little elk flock shooting?

Don't personally Know John Bair but he couldn't seem to shut up. Maybe he's a really good guy not sure. Seems like he really tried hard for attention the whole meeting and make it about himself. I noticed they are looking at a velvet november hunt on the pauns to kill some cactus bucks. Goats on the Deep Creeks and some other various units in the future, and a second rifle hunting season for deer on units above 18 bucks to 100 does. Oh and we are going to have some draw odds published for the youth hunts. The lady for the dnr said it's gonna cost $200.00 to publish

10r is a Great Guy & I've always Liked the Hell out of Him & I Still do!

He was Put in a Tough Situation!

You can Tell He Had to Think it out for a While!

And I know part of what He was was Thinking!

It would Cost all of us more Money to Vote the other way!

If These Guy's woulda Turned theirselves in I'd of had No Problem with 10r's Vote!

Who knows How many Extra Elk have been Wasted with the DWR'S COW SLAUGHTERS?

ELK = $$$!

You Can Hunt them with Pea Shooters!

You Can Hunt Them in to January & February!

Anyway!

I Didn't start this Thread to Thrash John Bair!

He's always Been Top Notch in My Eyes!

Yes John is a good guy. He is a auctioneer for those of you that haven't seen him. He has done most of the Sfw banquet and the hunt Expo.

If the 3 year suspension begins on the day of sentencing, then I assume it works that way for all convictions not just him. Is changing his date fair to other people in the same situation?

It seems to me if they want to change the definition of "3 year suspension" to include 3 drawing years only, they should make that a blanket policy for all, at least for in the future.

I SAID:

I'm Not Starting This Thread to THRASH & BASH 10r!

And I'm Glad He Pulled an EXPO Tag Just Once!

I Hope I Never Pull one though!

Can You Imagine The BASHIN & THRASHIN I'd Receive if I Did?

The person who ask for his sentence to be changed applied to go before the wildlife board. The officer who ticketed him approved as did the attorney general's office. Every year there are those that request a hearing before the wildlife board and get it. Not always recommended by attorneys office but over the past few years it has been about a 50/50 as to the results

That's exactly what they should do after listening to the Board Meeting.
