Kenton Industries custom turrets

LAST EDITED ON Apr-28-17 AT 09:14PM (MST)[p]I had these guys cut me a turret for my vortex hslr...love it! It's spot on out to the 1,000 yards I've been using it for. Just make sure you get and give them as much data as possible!

I have several kenton Turrets on my scopes and have found them to be very accurate. They have very good service and promptly fixed a recent problem that I caused. I recommend them.

I have never been able to match up Leupold's CDS turrets with what I come up with in the field. It seems that the data I give them doesn't work. I like their scopes but prefer to work up my own click data. With that in mind I have two different guns with the Kenton turrets and both came out exact to what I gave them.
I will probably use them again.

I have one on a vortex mounted on a 6.5 284. I like it but make sure you don't use a set of high base rings or you'll run out of adjustment before you run out of yardage.

Ring height has virtually no effect on the amount of adjustment available

Are the Kenton turrets on leupold scopes also? Just curious

Yes they can exchange with the ones sent to me by Leupold and fit my exact drop data.

Another positive for Kenton. I too had them make one for Vortex hslr. Just like most things, the more accurate data you can provide the better off you will be.

I have a Kenton turret on both my Leupold scopes for my 300rum and 7rum and have both been super accurate out to 1000 yards. I have the Leupold Vx3 models. Great customer service as well.

"Ring height has virtually no effect on the amount of adjustment available"

"Go ahead and mount it up on high rings then".

Actually 2Lumpy, Murr is correct ring height has little affect on elevation adjustment needed for extra yardage. You need a scope with a 30mm tube to get more range from your setup. I don't know what Vortex you are using but you need to check the specs on elevation adjustment. Don't believe me? Go to JBM ballistics and enter in your data on your 6.5x284 with different ring heights and see what you get. I just did it for my 6xc and a difference in ring height of 1 inch (1.5 compared to 2.5) makes .8 MOA difference at 1000 yards. That's 3, 1/4 minute clicks not much really. Here's my 6xc with standard parameters.

Hit calculate at the bottom of the link and you'll see the difference.

All I can tell you is, to get my 6.5 to shoot on at 200 yards, two and a half treads on the turret adjustment are used. By the time I turn it up to 760 yards, I'm out of turret adjustment.

I'm on at 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 yards but can't turn the turret any higher to get past 760 yards.

Has Kenton come out with a stop on their turret? I have one on a leupold from several yrs ago and my only complaint is the turret can be accidently spun past zero. Is there anything out their to fix an existing turret like this?

Thanks
Rharris

I've got a couple scopes with these labels on and they work great, not as expensive as Kenton and they have MOA on the bottom so if you have time you can calculate and get exact correction which usually is 1 or 2 clicks either way.

2Lumpy get a 20 MOA canted rail like Muley said and your problem will be solved.

Thanks Apex and Muley. I'll take your word for it that a 20 MOA canted rail would address the adjustment issue but I really like what I'm getting out to 700 yards with the current set-up. I think I'll just leave well enough alone, but your solution is certainly helpful for others.
