Looking at getting a new day pack and been looking at the Kuiu Pro 1850 bag. Have a question if you need the belt for this back, I don't planning on packing game out with it and not buying the carbon frame but the add for the belt is $125 and since this is just for my scope and day hunting gear wondering if the belt is needed.

Thanks in Advance

Unless the packs have changed you have to have a frame and harness to use the bag. The bags do not have shoulder straps or anything and are designed to be installed on the frame and harness. I have an 1850 and it is a good day pack and very capable of packing out animals in the load sling. My only issue is the hip belt rubs my hips funny under loads.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-15-17 AT 05:34PM (MST)[p]You can run the 1850 without the carbon fiber frame but you need the shoulder straps and waist belt which Kuiu calls the suspension. That is the extra $125.
In this configuration there are 2 aluminum rods that you insert into the bag to stiffen it up.
If you want to run the 1850 with the load sling then you need the carbon fiber frame also.
The 1850 is a great day pack and can haul a lot of gear and meat. Add on some hip pouches also.

I plus one on what Cahunter805 said with the exception of price (If I understood what was meant by extra $125).

You can buy the whole system for $424.98

If you buy the Bag it is $125. If you buy the suspension it is $259.98 but the bag does not come with the suspension so your total cost is $384.97 (bag and suspension), I'm pretty sure on that as I went through this last year.

You can also buy the frame stand alone for $165

So it is more expensive buying each piece separate...

I would call and clarify if I was you.

Update: I ordered the bag and the suspension system at the Sheep show. Was back ordered,
(suprise) received 1st week of June, highly satisfied.

Total cost $212.
