just curious as to what people think on the two powers vs each other. my primary use would be tripod glassing with the binos, using a spotter when needed. with that set up i would most likely go to the 10x50's since i have the spotter. any thoughts? ive used 15's before but i like the added zoom that a spotter has with those long spots.

I'll vote for the 12x50's. I went to these several years back after packing 10x42's for a long time. The 12's definitely need to be stabilized somewhat with the magnification so freehand glassing is tough but I very rarely do that anyways unless it's just to take a quick look at something while hiking. Off a tripod the 12's are awesome.

I would go 12's. I don't recall many times that I was wishing for less magnification. However, it does seem that I often times wish I had more.

The 12's are easily packed around the mountain, and can be used fine without a tripod. You will learn how to stabilize them on a knee, branch, whatever...... Of course, they are even better with a tripod if you have one handy.

The 12x50's have been good for me, and have enjoyed using them more than the 10's

12x50 are great. I have 15x56 binos that are almost overkill. I would rather my 15x56's than a spotting scope every time.
