C'mon Eel. Meters is official guide speak. You can't refer to it unless you are 4'8" and a professional blind sitter.

You mean 1.4 meters with a head that weighs 6 kilograms and is %100 correct %100 of the time.

When said prairie dog was harvested, were you wearing a FLAT BRIMED HAT? and if so was it turned backwards.

Seriously, I once harvested a coyote at what I guessed to be 430 to 450 yards with a gut shot and I didn't feel bad a out it, and still don't but if that would have been a buck or bull I'm sure I would feel terrible about it. I have also trapped, snared, and barbwired coyote dens as a youngster and don't loose any sleep over it. I guess it has something to do with respecting an Animal. I come from a ranching/farming background, vermin mice, rats, muskrats, foxes prairie dogs and coyotes are more like pesky flies that need swatting. So if your hat had a bent brim, I sat blast away at the vermin.

Did you verify your kill?

I don't have enough fingers or toes to count how many times those things have taken a head shot and taken off.

What does it matter. The DWR issued a permit to kill a varmint and one was killed. Objective met. Next you will say the critter needed to be killed in the unit where the permit is good for. Ethics shmethics.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-21-17 AT 10:31AM (MST)[p]As long as it was a Utah Prairie Dog in Iron County on private property which you had written permission to hunt on AND you also had permission from each and every neighbor who had facilities (house, barn, shed, outhouse, playground, picnic table, overlook, etc.) within 600 feet of you or your target AND you were wearing hunter orange if there was also a big game hunt going on at the same time AND you notified the USFWS prior to your hunt so that they could verify per DNA that the animal was indeed a Utah Prairie Dog AND you gave them an accurate count on the numbers you killed AND you made sure there wasn't a lingering female behind your target AND it was less than 30 minutes after sunset, I would say you were ok. Otherwise, you might want to find a taxidermist in Texas who knows all this stuff to consult with.

Geez, what was I thinking? All those laws don't matter as long as the shot was ethical and the intended animal was put out of its misery!

As long as it was with a 22 rimfire and iron sights. Anything else and you were relying on technology rather than skill. :D :D
