I'm looking for a external / internal frame pack. Don't want 2 big of an internal frame/backpack. What are you all using or what are your recommendations?
Here are my choices so far.
Alps commander lite
Badlands 2200
Alps commander frame pack

I have owned and currently own a 2200, they are great packs with a lot of great features. The exterior meat shelf has to be the best one. That being said their size is limiting if you are planning on going in for more than a day or two, just not enough space for a longer trip. I have had and tried many packs, most of them have some good features, but I have yet to find one that has all the benefits I am looking for. My favorite pack for 2-5 day trips is the badlands sacrifice. The new model has been improved in 2017. Has the most space, features that I was looking for, and is one of the lightest packs in the market. If it had a meat shelf it would be the ultimate hunting pack. It's also a big plus if you can start your weight at 3.5 pounds instead of 7 or 8. You should give it a look. Good luck.

I've used alot of packs! best one yet is the slumberjack rail hauler.

I'm going to throw the Tenzing 4000 into the ring here. It's similar to the 2200 in size unless, and until, you need more. By simply unzipping a couple zippers, you open an expandable compartment and it's only then that it becomes a 4000.

I have the 2200 and I love it. I do not do multiple day backpack hunts, so I am not concerned about having more space.

It has been fantastic. I get envious looks from friends and family every time it comes time to haul out an animal. It will easily carry as much weight as I am able/willing to carry myself. It is comfortable to wear. It is a little on the heavier side, but the durability has proven to be exceptional thus far.

I have been using the Kuiu line of packs. best packs ive used. lightweight, super durable and the most comfortable pack ive worn. plus interchangeable bags means you only have to buy one frame. i couldnt wait to get away from the badlands 2200.

Man, I just kept clicking on all the similar topics at the bottom of the screen and got tons more info on various packs. When I get ready to buy a pack, I'll have all the info I need!

I love it! I used it all spring packing out elk sheds. Ive had blacks creek packs, Hornhunter full curl system And several other packs and none of them compare to how it feels on your back and hips with 100lbs+ for miles on your pack! I would buy another one in a heart beat.
