Eclipse

Anyone traveling to eclipse "path of totality"?

If everything goes as planned I'll be on the South Fork of the Snake enjoying a day of fishing while the eclipse happens.

Do you think the deer and elk will act differently Monday during the time the sun is partially obscured by the moon? Here in Northern Utah the moon is expected to cover 95% of the sun.

Not traveling as it should be pretty good viewing in the Denver area. I think it will send the elk into a one hour rutting frenzy and all the cows will be breed. Glad I don't have an early season elk tag in my pocket.

Funny even tho my house is in the path, floating the SF was my original plan. Then the wife decided we were going to backpack into the Wind Rivers instead. Don't really care about the eclipse however the thought of catching some big Goldens has me excited. Leaving tomorrow at 5am.

Take it for what its worth, but my dad in law is the transportation boss for Smiths. They are sending all kinds of extra loads into the wyoming and Idaho stores. Doubt you'll be alone unless you backpack far back. Jackson and the area is going to be a ##### show.

I will be at Glendo State Park in eastern Wyoming managing the park. So far, it has been somewhat slower than anticipated. More people are showing up every minute and our 569 campsites will fill up tomorrow (Friday) most likely.

It has been fun to prepare for and help organize. The hardest part is getting people where they need to go because they are all lost.

Too bad it conflicts with my archery antelope hunting time.

Out of Millions of People watching it!

Somebody is gonna Film it!

HELL Ya I'm gonna Watch it!:D

Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

I live in the path of totality. 1 minute and 6 seconds of it. But, I'l be at work...2 minutes and 12 seconds. A bunch of us are taking a (root) beer kooler, some lawn chairs, and a pop-up shelter and having some "team building." :D

Yes I'm driving up to Hoback Rim and watch it...never seen one and the wife and I are having picnic and with our EBAY special sunglasses have a party...

Driving down to Idaho Monday morning. It's definitely worthwhile- I went to Winnipeg for the last one in 1979. As I heard on one of the space forums, the difference between totality and almost totality is like the difference between being dead and mostly dead. Not even in the same league.

If you're not going to be in the path of totality, find someplace where a broadleaf tree casts a shadow on a sidewalk. It's like hundreds of tiny pinhole cameras- the sidewalk is covered with little partial eclipses. Pretty cool. I discovered that in Kansas in 1992 during a partial eclipse.

I've heard that birds will head for roosts during a total eclipse, so I would assume deer and elk will act differently for at least a couple of minutes. Might be enough for Ol' Mr. Toad to stick his head out of cover.

ELK are you gonna use a spotter or binoculars to watch ?

We are in the path of total coverage and supposedly one of the top viewing areas of Nebraska. We're already overrun with people getting ready 3 days out. They say that we can expect a 100,000 viewers, with few roads and facilities to handle that influx of people it could be interesting.

Here in CA we had a total eclipse it lasted 3 days day prior was a 3/4 eclipse then total then again 3/4 got pretty dark at 3/4 then animals on our ranch bedded down, chickens went to roost, the as the sun came out it was another sunrise, roosters crowed, just like an early morning sunrise...

They're setting 10 porta potties on every southbound on ramp on I-25 for the monday afternoon clusterphuck! Its like Y2K all over again. Cracks me up. Think I'll steal all the ass wipe and sell it to em Monday afternoon $10/sheet!

I'll be in the hay field till 20:30 then go work my night shift...I better not break any thing as my long legged wife is taking my wielding mask's to her office...do you think the 2 minutes will effect my hay curing??? I wanted to be at 13,000 feet to watch it..but "make hay while the sun shines" or for a couple minutes tommorw "make hay while the sun doesent shine".

Well Hossblur right you were. I knew we wouldn't be alone because where we went is pretty popular but HOLYSH!T I've never seen so many people 10 miles in the backcountry in my life. Hundreds and hundreds it was a zoo. We arrived at the trailhead at 7:00am Friday morning and barely found a place to park. We packed into Island Lake which is 10 1/2 miles in and it was a zoo. Stayed the night there and got up early made the trek to a Golden trout lake I know about off the beaten path. There we found solitude except for the occasional day fishermen. We were the only ones camped there.

Monday we decided to make the 2 1/2 trek one way to Titcomb Basin for the eclipse. Found a sweet spot where we were somewhat alone. Titcomb did not disappoint. What an incredible experience. After the eclipse it was a mass exodus, just a solid line of backpackers leaving the area. We hiked back to our lake and never saw another person until we hiked out yesterday.
