For the guys on social media here on mm . Don't you ever get sick and tired of the hunters "so called hunters" on these sites. If they had a real job like the rest of us would they be killing animals on a daily basis and have time for that. I DON'T think they would I drive 8 hour round trips a weekend to scout and hunt. I don't get lucky I guess. I've been through two hurricanes the last two weeks and barely got out of Texas recently. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sick of their posts on social media about how much they work out they have the best wife and how they kill pisscutters . Guaranteed by the end of this year I'll be doing the same but I won't brag about it. I'll just bring a few photos to the expo to show the ole cat ?

Why let it get to you? You are charting your path and making it work for you. For some, publishing fiction on social media is as good as it gets for them. Some have so little self-validation that they hunger for it from others. Bravado is often an indication of insecurity and self doubts. Some of us take enough pleasure in our lives that we don't need social reinforcement. I share my hunts because some enjoy seeing pics and reading about hunts.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-07-17 AT 10:11PM (MST)[p]I can't even begin to describe how much I hate social media for what it's done to hunting. There are so many fake "heroes" out there, just hunting for "likes". It's pathetic. Then when you call them out on their #####, the swarms of followers step in to back them up and motivate them to keep doing it. These are the same clowns that started the hip phrases like "can't eat the horns. Just wanna fill the freezer. It's not about the size of the animal, it's all about the memories. Keep hammering. #bowhuntingSUCKS. Got a lot of history with this animal. My buddy has his sheds. Been watching this hog for years. They switched spots and I shot the wrong buck. Got tons of trail cam photos of him. Sick for it. Brotha..." this ##### is sickening to put it lightly ???‍♂️

LAST EDITED ON Sep-07-17 AT 10:14PM (MST)[p]It's all about getting the clicks and cyber hugs. I think you are letting it get to you a little too much.

I assure you one thing, if some of these boyz had kids, a wife, a mortgage, a career, and most of all.......a self esteem, then they wouldn't be killing the animals they do. Give me that free time and I'll turn up the needles in the haystack too.

What I don't get are all the fans and followers of these people. Almost like groupies. I'd much rather go find my own buck than route some kid I don't know( nor want to) on.

I love to follow people's stories and stuff.....I feel like I owe it to the rest to post my pics and stories because I enjoy when others do.

Everyone needs a hero! They just don't understand that they can be their own hero!

It's always amazed me that 1 guy with a tag will have 20 helpers spotting for them through the unit and they end up killing a 2 point and then use one of those stupid sayings like "it's not about the size, it's about the memories". Hell of someone has 20 people looking for them, there's no reason why they can't kill one of the biggest animals in the unit!

Hey Deer1975!

I'll be waitin to see the Pics at the EXPO again!

Or Maybe I'll get My Next Kiss?:D

As You know!

But, if they all had real jobs like the rest of us instead of selling flattys and keto shakes would they still be able to do it? I'm not sure. + now the outfitters want them on their land posting shizz of pisscutters they killled for notariaty. Yes that's a big word " notariarty" but I was the spelling B champion in grade school. Throw me a a flatty for that. Lol ? rant over I guess . When I kill my pisscutter doe pronghorn this year I'll post some
Pics of her hair around here eyeballs

They all wanna be sponsored! They all think they are prostaff material because they shot an 18" 3x3 with their bow. My personal fav are the guys doing "tech tips" on products they bought from cabelas, hoping they will get some company to throw them a bone and give them free ##### ? It's hilarious to see FB and IG light up with professionals trying to be something they will never be

75,
60 hrs a week? Come hang with me next week I'll put in over 100. Then I'll drive to elk camp and chase big bulls all weekend. All while posting pics from Moose hunting and fly fishing last weekend. I get the overkill on some of that stuff no doubt and I would also love to have more time to spend in the hills. And you may be right that social media is killing the sport but brother it didn't start with IG or FB. It's started with Field and Stream and Sports Afield, then transferred to Eastmans Journal and Trophy Hunter. Then onto websites like..well Monster Muleys. IG an FB are just version 5.0 of something that started long ago. You may have just got stuck on version 3.0. "Give the youth more tags and more opportunity". Then pisss down their necks cause they choose to advance and do their own thing. I'm glad they hit the rivers and the hills. I'm glad it's something they are proud of. Has it given more coverage to some tools, you bet! But hey how many of us have shown our assses on this forum. If it's not your cup of Tin Cup then don't sip it brother.

deerkiller,
You'd be amazed at the opportunities and perks free marketing will get you. My boys run a fishing page and it blows my mind the free stuff and opportunities that come in weekly. They do both wear flattys exclusively but one puts in 50 hrs a week working production and the other swinging a hammer in 115 degree heat. They work hard and they play hard. And I for one wouldn't want it any other way.

Good god Muley now I got to fight with a a guy my same age. I know where you're from I grew up not far from you. Whatever go put in your 100 hours a week I don't have to and I'll still make twice the money you do. Don't give me hell for my job. I got more miles on my suitcase than your broke down ford ever will. I'm a .01% you know what that means? Didn't think so move on

Gotta agree. Last season was my "come to jezuz". Stopped to offer a ride to 2 backpackers. One dude rocking dreads, the other a fatty and gauges. Both more hard core than me. Spent the duck hunt running into 2 flatty, neck tatted, gauges fellas, over and over after the old guys had let ice chase them off. In the words of Elsa, "let it go, let it go". 5 yrs from now they will detest their gens mullet, fb, if, fatties.

75,
Helll man if you make twice what I make why the helll you not out killing big shiiit every year. I'm sorry I didn't jump on and agree with your whining. Sounds like if you shifted your priorities around a little you might be happier. Don't let them kids get you down. I'm pisssed about my weight gain and free time too!

#livelikezac

Theses youngsters have different priorities, hell my boy will have a pic of a kill on social media before the knifes even pulled out. He didn't learn it from me.

I want to know how someone can physically handle working 20+ hours per day, which amounts to no more than 3 hours of sleep MAX per night then drive to Elk camp, hike, then packout an Elk all weekend.

The human body is an amazing thing but I think the stories told on this forum are more amazing. Lets all just play tummy sticks and cut to the chase, shall we?

I must say that this is the most fascinating debates I have seen in a while. We have one person who I believe is saying is in the top .01% of income earners. Occording to a quick internet search this would put their yearly income at around $10,000,000, but this person seems to be somewhat jealus because some young guys on social media have more time to hunt than they do?

Then we have another person who works 100 hours a week and is still able to go elk hunting on the weekends. If they didn't go elk hunting until Saturday morning this would give them five days to work 100 hours which is twenty hours a day, which leaves four hours a day for things like family time, eating and sleeping, now that is impresive.

I don't really have a point to make exept for it is an honor to be a part of this discussion with two such exceptional human beings.

Social media is good and bad for hunting. I'll just say this here's my gripe as of lately I cannot stand a built up series of photos (teasers) when an animal is knocked down. When I kill something you're going to see the final result nothing to hide or make it more than what it was. And for the love of god I do not get why you would want to repost daily stuff you were not involved in and didn't assist or kill to keep yourself relevant. Why do you deserve less likes on your hard work than the daily reposter who was not even a part of the sucess. And for the love of god I get so sick of seeing people pour their scoop of mtn ops, warrior fuel, or ready nutrients into their blender bottle and shake it up. We get it you take supplements you think the ones you are on are the best. And please when you are doing a vlog try not to capture the other 2 to 3 people vloging with their camera in your video. We don't need 4 different versions of the same hunt, shed hunt, or outdoor expereience. For those capturing video of someone videoing think about this you will probably sit back in 20 years and say I wish we would have focused on the experience and took it all in surroundings, celebration, hardwork, ect. rather than capturing it on 5 different cameras. I don't think these people are bad people some of them are really nice but just enjoy the outdoors and worry about the goal of getting your trophy not the number of likes because hunting was never about that. Good luck everyone and hopefully you have a fantastic hunting season.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-08-17 AT 12:06PM (MST)[p]Mark,
I don't work 100+ hrs a week every week but when I'm on a show yes 20 hr days and 3 hrs of sleep isn't uncommon. And it would be spread over 6 days not 5. On the road so family is at home. Nothing exceptional just the industry I choose to work in. My point is we choose what we do and how we spend our time. To complain about others escapes me. Its your life, make it what you want it to be. Complaining because you work 60 hrs a week and so you don't get to spend more time hunting or scouting is crazy to me. If you don't like your situation change it. Why bittch about the way others live their life? Social media whining...about social media. Crazy

LAST EDITED ON Sep-08-17 AT 01:18PM (MST)[p]Doz,
Come tag along. It is what it is. More than one person that has questioned the schedule that myself and buddies run has ate their words. Bring your big boy pants.

But then again you might be too busy shooting 190" bucks on the Henry's. Lol.

I am not active on FB or IG so I don't see much that goes on over there. Once in a while I will see something my wife shows me on her account. I am not a fan posting everything on FB/IG but I don't care if others choose to do so. To each their own! I am sure there are plenty of old-timers who view this forum as a complete waste of time.

This is one of the most comical posts I've read on here recently. When did everyone become so concerned about what everyone else is doing? The solution to the OP's problem is as simple as shutting off his social media access, or maybe just stop following those that annoy you? Seems pretty straightforward to me. Instead he comes on here (basically another form of social media) to whine about social media and seek validation from his peers... it's fantastic.

For the record, I enjoy social media, post fairly regularly, have a normal job, hunt and fish when I can, and am overly happy. I don't think I'm seeking validation or filling some hole in my character, I just enjoy sharing some of the stuff I'm fortunate enough to see while out in the hills.
