Moved to Pheonix from tardville last May. I would have killed him in Utah had he been lurkin around my kids.

While they made indiscriminate killing of all rattlesnakes illegal in Utah in 1989, I believe the law was amended in 2010 to allow you to kill only Great Basin rattlers "if your life was threatened or endangered". I think that is still the case. Finding one in your yard in close proximity to the house would certainly fit the definition, especially with kids.

I thought this one was a log until it moved just as my friend was stepping over it. Luckily it had just eaten and was still kinda sluggish. A bunny popped out of the exit hole.

I held it at shoulder height about where the entry wound is and there was still a foot or so on the ground. Probably 6' +
