Been gone a while.

I come back from time to time and see what's been going on.

I recently retired from butchering meat.
Family is good.
My son was crazy busy fighting wildfires the last couple years here in NorCal.
We nearly lost our house in the Atlas fire.
It was a miracle that it didn't burn down.

I've slowed down a bit in the last few years.
Hunting costs have far outpaced my income.
My son and I still hunt Blacktail locally and try to fish as much as we can, but the days of guided hunts are over.

I'll put a few fairly recent pics up.
I do Facebook and Instagram still.

Hope the draws treat you guys well this year.

Best wishes to all.

Sure is nice to see California?s best Representative back!!! Looks like Jr is all grown up! I'm just now beginning on the journey with my little guys...

Always loved seeing your stuff!

Harry...glad that the fire did not get you, unfortunately I was not that lucky. The wife and I had just celebrated our 50th anniversary 30 HOURS earlier. Neighbors woke us up at 0130 on Oct 9th only had 15 minutes to get out of house.
Worst time in my life, just have my wife and me left, lost everything including my hunting rifles, optics etc. Even lost my '34 Ford coupe..........nothing left.
Dealing with Insurance Company has me a wreck.

Great pictures glad your family is doing good.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-09-18 AT 07:07AM (MST)[p]Oh that's just horrible Brian, I am so sorry.

We had more time to react.
The fire was lapping at our house when we evacuated, a huge 30 foot tall wall of flames.
I grabbed my guns and photos and loaded my mounts into my big trailer and a neighbor hauled some shoulder mounts for me.
As we left I expected it to burn to the ground, it was horrible.
A helicopter was able to do some water drops on it at the last minute and that was the only thing that saved it.
My son was fighting the Tubbs fire in your neighborhood, it was a horrifying fire.
It seemed like the fires never quit last year, he fought all of these nor cal fires then in December Cal Fire sent him to So Cal to fight the Thomas fire.
I can hardly imagine how bad it was for you.

Harry,

Nice to see you on MM, glad you escaped the fires. Are you still chasing unit 53 deer?

I retired as well Dec 31, that's why Lumpy called me, Hasbean.

Thanks Beanman.

Still puttin in for points.
I'm up to 13 Colorado deer points.
Hope to get a tag while I can still walk...?

Welcome back and congragulations on your retirement. I've always envied your ability to take pictures, especially your fish success, probably because you catch big fish. it has been interesting to see your son grow up through your pictures and stories.

Hey it still looks like your getting plenty of outdoor action in even on a retired guys income!!!!! Keep it up hopefully I'll be in your shoes in about 10 years.

Harry

I've been wondering for some time how you were doing, and the longer we went without hearing from you, the more concerned I got. Knbowing you lived in the general area of the fires, and how much effort you put into the barn, I was kinda sick from the thought of not only the loss of your trophies, ut also your lifes. So releaved that you lossed nothing. Hope you and your family stay safe.

Brian. I am sick for you. So sorry to hear about all your loses. If you need a rifle, I've got a .280 Remington or a 25.06 I'll give you.

Nice to see you back. It's been a long time and we always loved your stories and pics. Now we just need to get Sageadvice to come back on. Us Californians need all the support we can get.

Welcome back HH! Doesn't look like you've wasted the time away. Nice to see the MM old crew checking in.

Good to hear you didn't loose your home, if I had to leave my home because of a fire I would chosen my Kodak bear also, have a great year.

Indeed Bobcat.
We did two different fire evacuations last year.
It's rough on everything.

I'm fixing one right now.

Good to see you here. I do not check like I used to in the past. Glad to hear all is well.

Please tell me where these last 16-17 years have gone? Hard to believe I have been on this site this long...
