Yeti drops NRA

Apparently they posted a response. I dont do Facebook so I cant post it. Appears the made "business decisions" with pricing, etc. with legacy vendors. Seems they forgot to tell the vendors about this or provide notice until NRA hammered them. Eff'um...

I have cancelled subscriptions and will no longer visit those that don't support my rights. Especially since Parkland shooting. That hysteria...

Stomp my rights, lose my business.

RTIC just posted a link somewhere, I think I saw it on Instagram, about supporting the Second.

I don't own anything Yeti, don't plan to.

I do have some Ozark trail coolers though.

I've made my issues with NRA known, but this was a betrayal. That company has used gun carrying outdoorsman to promote itself since its origin, then just gives us the finger?

You all should be pissed

"Official @yeti Statement: A few weeks ago, YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organizations, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs. When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation. These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20."

The trouble is you got to decide who's telling the truth. Yeti's statement came 3 days after the NRA's.

Very true DW. None of us know where the truth lies.

Is Yeti in damage control?

or

Is NRA using hyperbole to raise money and warn others from cutting ties with NRA?

Both are reasonably likely, imo.

Seems like Rtic and Pelican reacted much quicker than Yeti.

Seems Yeti could simply share the supposed email and nip this. Otherwise its spin.

At best they are asleep at the switch

LAST EDITED ON Apr-24-18 AT 08:43AM (MST)[p]NRA is in the business of politics. Yeti is in the business of making money. They seem to have the advertising and branding game down to a science. Can't see them biting the hand that feeds them with most of their customers being sportsmen.

Just saw NRA-ILA post. They claim Yeti is in Damage control. Claim yeti canceled orders on them.

Wow. Talk about corporate suicide.

Yeti really put their "Bigfoot" in it this time.
I am a committee member for the local chapter of my states FNRA banquet.
We were told two weeks ago that the NRA had been officially notified that the Yeti company would no longer be continuing their promotional products relationship with the NRA Foundation.

At that time, there was no mention of a "change in programs".
There was likewise no mention of any other organization/company that were also being dropped from similar branded promotional programs.

It was a full two weeks before the Yeti company decided to issue a "rebuttal" to the NRA's version of the events.
I emailed the Yeti corporate offices asking for clarification regarding this matter more than two weeks ago. I have yet to receive a reply.

Forgive me if I smell panic at Yeti.

The jury is in ladies and gentlemen. The NRA which would have so much to gain is spilling hyperbole. Yeti on the other hand who has no dog in the fight is preaching the gospel. Thanks for clearing up which facts are facts for the rest of us morons.

RTIC is a blatant Chinese ripoff of Yeti, with questionable business practices (started via bulk pre-orders shipped from China). They will do or say anything to upstage Yeti.

Ozark is from WalMart; not exactly pro 2A.

No doubt Yetti's are great and durable coolers. I have not found the need to spend that much to get the job done. If I had one I would get a nice large NRA sticker and put it on the cooler where everybody could see where I stand.

I'm not a member. But I do read, and listen to radio. How in the crap, do you "drop" business with the NRA right now if you are a supporter? Of course the NRA is a little touchy, companies they've supporter for years, and with millions have hung them out. It may be just a business decision, but it is horrible PR whether the NRA called them out, or whether the anti published "another company boycotting the NRA.

So?

Do I Grind the YETI Emblem/Paint off My Yeti Cooler?

Yeti didn't drop NRA, they dropped the program that NRA and various other groups used to order custom products.

From my link above... Months ago I got an e-mail through another retail company that I'm involved in who is setup to order custom branded YETI products explaining that YETI was changing their ordering process for wholesale and custom branded product. This was to streamline various legacy programs varying ordering processes to one single system for all wholesale and custom label ordering.

They also sent this letter to Quail Coalition and other groups. See letters in my post above. This is not an anti-NRA move, they just changed their pricing structure.

NRA is being disingenuous, at best, with their claims.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-29-18 AT 11:38AM (MST)[p]Sounds to me like both Yeti and NRA have egg on their face over this one. Yeti probably could have handled it better, but NRA is not playing smart about this. You don't go off pouting like some spoiled kid that was used to getting candy and suddenly the supply was less.

And you don't burn bridges with companies that have supported you in the past, even if they don't currently. That is just bad business for the NRA. You think Yeti will ever consider doing a business practice that helps NRA in the future? Nope, that bridge is completely burned!

And what about other companies that are considering making a deal with NRA? If that is how they treat people who help but sometime say they can't any more, I wouldn't want my company involved with that. Too much risk. "KEEP SUPPORTING US OR WE WILL HURT YOU" The bad press will most likely hurt YETI some. Other companies are watching.

I'm pretty sure the decisions/negotiations/purchases/contracts between corporate Yeti and corporate NRA are a little above the pay-grade of a "committee member for the local chapter".

Regardless, Yeti made a mistake. They are back pedaling and in damage control.

Just a side note: Pelican Cooler (which are very good) is currently donating $10 for every cooler they sell to the NRA.

Listened to Ben O'Brien(from yeti) podcast, The Hunting Collective, EXCELLENT PODCAST.

But he was talking to John Dudley and in discussion about grip and grins he said "you have to know your audience". Pretty good advice, perhaps he should take it to work. The NRA has unfairly taken hits from companies, Yeti should know that and either walk softly, or find a better time.
