Uintas West Goat

Hello, New member here and I bet it can get annoying for first time posters to ask for info but I figured this is a once in a lifetime hunt and I would rather ask than not ask. I drew goat for the North slope/south slope, uintas West unit. I know some of the area but I have never hunted it, I can make my own work schedule, so I plan on scouting quite a lot during the summer. I also have access to pack animals. If anyone has hunted this unit for goats and would like to share any info, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I also posted this on the Utah section, not sure where to post yet, so I did both. Sorry if that's another annoying first time poster thing.

Congratulations Plumber! Any OIAL tag is worth getting all the information you can and in my book, you have tactfully stuck your neck seeking legitimate help.
I have never hunted that unit although I have hiked in it a few times. From my goat hunting experience (which is limited) if you scout and get to know the unit and where goats are hanging, you have half the battle won. It sounds like you have that in your plans. You might try calling the dwr biologist in that area as they can often be of some help.
Hopefully someone with immediate unit experience will give you a boost.

There is a section for sheep, goats, moose, antelope for your question as well but posting where you did is fine. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Good for You!

You could camp at Moosehorn and watch many Mnt. Goats right from there.

Plenty of access and trails right of Rt-150.

Enjoy!

Yo hey c3.....thanks for the vids. I got one of the Beaver tags this year and after watching the archery video, for sure I won't get anything done at the office today!

The goats can and have fallen into some hard to reach spots before.
Hope you bring some rope

I'd use horses or lamas to pack in

Congrats on the tag and enjoy the views.

Good luck

I had the tag in 2014 and had one of the best hunts of my life. Private message me and I'm happy to share. Congrats on an incredible tag!
