LAST EDITED ON Jul-30-18 AT 00:57AM (MST)[p]Just a thought, instead of an argument.

The BLM headquarters moving from DC, as Zinke is proposing, and sticking it in Utah would sure help shut up Bishop/Lee and their complaint of an out of touch bureaucracy in DC dictating to locals on the land. One of the biggest points in their "transfer" scheme.

What do you think?

Some people are pushing for it to move to Grand Junction. The local paper acts like it is a done deal...at times.

While You're at it HOSS!

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

Happily.

Problem is, Rob Bishop is the chair, he's in charge. If the BLM/FS sucks so bad you'd think we would get a new boss. Instead a lot of guys want to give him even more land to run horribly.

We call that failing upward.

I wouldn't mind Grand Junction either.

Rep Bishop is the chair of a legislative committee, that does not make him the boss. The boss of these agencies is Secretary Ryan Zinke. A vote for or against Bishop right now will have very little impact directly on the BLM/FS. Sure, he can propose legislation that has impacts, but so can hundreds of other representatives or senators. He is not the boss, nor is he in charge of the BLM or Forest Service.

He gets re-elected because he is a solid conservative vote in a very conservative congressional district. On 99% of the issues, he votes exactly like the vast majority of his constituents want him to. And I leave that 1% open for public land issues, but I suspect many in his district are happy with his record there too. Someone needs to beat him in the primary if he is going to lose an election. I don't remember anyone even trying? But that's not my district so I could be mistaken there.

Its is my district. Its Utah, which means if your an R, are a member in good standing, and not in slc, you win. He was originally backed by UEA.
Now he has some oil friends helping out. But lets not pretend, this is Utah, we will haul in an R from New Hampshire to run.

He is the boss. He controls which bills and amend get pushed. He controls the committee. He controls the budget.

Zinke is the face of the agency, he controls none of that.

BTW, Bishop was in charge prior to Zinke, prior to Trump. Bishop is responsible for the erroding budgets at the FS. He's responsible for the leadership at the FS/BLM. They all interview with Bishops Committee.

Sorry on this one your incorrect.

But you are correct, he is tough to beat, but then so are most incumbents, I belive its about 90% retention rate. An R in Utah, pretty close to 99% I'd bet.

I don't know what solid conservative means anymore.

But, yeah, he's tough to beat.
