Tent thieves

A friend of mine was hunting LE elk on the fish lake unit and had a 6 man tent stolen after one night. We also heard about a hunter that had his whole camp taken while hunting.
Two weeks ago while hunting in northern UT up on top of Farmington canyon my two man tent was stolen. What's wrong with people, if it's not your property leave it alone.

It Wasn't Too many years ago We were all on the Mountain with Perty Much the same caliber of people/Hunters!

Not any more!

PERTY DAMN SAD!

I know so many people in so many places
They make allot of money but they got sad faces

It Ain't Easy being Me!:D:D:D

5 years ago some bastard stole my alaknak tent with cots, sleeping bags, and all camping equipment. I was furious and was ready to kill the person who did it. Nothing worse than a thief. Who do these jack asses think they are.

A buddy of mine had a Book cliffs roadless elk tag.He hauled everything thing in a week before the hunt. They road in Friday before the hunt and everything was gone ,wall tent ,bed rolls,Dutch ovens, and the tent stove.

There is not much worst then a thief. Sorry to hear of these situations. Unfortunately it will probably just get more common. Hate to even think about it.

Farmington canyon is notorious for getting crap stolen. I had a springbar tent stolen up there on the muzzle loader hunt. My buddy had a bunch of stuff stolen out of his camp up there too. Honestly sometimes I think it isn't hunters doing this but rather the good ol granola types who hate hunting.

I would never condone stealing another persons property, but after spending the whole Muzzleloader deer hunt on Fish Lake, something needs to be done about people reserving camp spots!! Whether it be vacant trailers or tents, its getting out of control. I would imagine Fish Lake is not the only place its happening. It was ridiculous. I would say at least 20-30 vacant trailers/tents. Worst part was, in the week and a half I was there, almost all never had a person visit them. I know this is near impossible to partol, but it is getting out of hand. Again, I would never condone stealing another persons stuff, but I can understand the frustration of seeing tents or trailers reserving spots for long periods of time.

I agree with putting trail cameras at the camp/hunting site. Hunters be aware of the scoundrels are out there just waiting to prey on the goods of the honest!

+1 on the reserving spots. Just look at post #3, they're reserving spots in roadless areas too. Hell, I came across a camper that never moved from turkey season/summer scouting through archery season.

I do not think taking your camp in and setting it up a week before is called reserving your spot I think it is called being prepared.

I hunt a lot of areas that do not have water to filter for the back pack type hunt but are too far in to day hunt so I typically pack my tent and several gallons of water in the week before..... If this is called reserving a spot I don't know what to tell you other than tough luck. Now leaving your crap on forest land for 3 weeks prior to hunt is pretty annoying I will give you guys that. I see this more with the truck style camping though rather than back country.

My brother, kawboy on here had a guy take a leak on the side of his tent and knock his solar panel over.

Bastards sorry to hear so many loosing gear, sounds like a bunch of low life?s selling things for cash...

))))???->

I always worried about our tent being stolen. I have a buddy who used to set up a discrete, very small capacitor type "electric fence system" on his. My luck I would forget to disable it and shock myself. Sorry to hear about that

These days I always place a hidden trail camera on my camp. Wont prevent a thief but might help with recovery. I have a friend that posts a sign on stating camp is being video monitored.

All ways keep an eye on craigslist when when you lose something.

You would be surprised how many thieves use it to dump their goods.

shootem this can be found on the Saint Goerge craigslist right now close to the top.

"if it's not your property leave it alone."

First off, I'm hoping your post is just a rant and not actually directed at MM members. I'm guessing that's true because I don't think anyone on here would steal someone's tent or camp.

Second, I have an equally powerful statement for you:

"if it's not your property, don't leave your stuff on it". I'm afraid the days are long gone when we can expect to leave our camps and equipment in the hills without having someone possibly take it. It's a sad state, but if you leave your property on public land, there is always a chance someone will do some window shopping.

I'm sorry for the loss of your stuff.
