chalk creek/east canyon/morgan-south rich (deer)

So I am in bit of a predicament this year. I have a tag to hunt the above area with Rifle, with plans of hunting on East Canyon. Well that went south. So now I am trying to find an area that is public that I can hunt in my region. With roughly 85% being private I know this may be difficult. can anyone help me on this?

I live in Coalville and I can tell you if you don't have private access you're pretty much screwed. There is some state property in Henefer but be prepared for a sh.t show of epic proportions. If I were you I would turn your tag back and game plan for next year.

There are bucks above Bountiful up to Layton. I was plowing through 14 inches of snow up there a few hours ago. There are a number of yearling bucks and a few 2-1/2 year old 4x4?s around.

My son and I found one for him. He hunted hard, dealt with cold, cold and was rewarded. His second buck.

That's awesome, that's a tough tag to have, without having access to private property, glad I had the app to find some ground myself, except I didn't fill my tag ?

While the info on that unit might say it is 85% private, there is another 12% of public land that is landlocked by private.

Your only chance is to hunt a small piece of state land near Croydon. Most guys in there take horses in, but you can hike it. I've hunted there once in the past. Had a nice hike with my dad. Didn't see any deer. However, that was a hot year. With the recent snow, I imagine there are deer in there. Just be ready to run and tag any deer you shoot.
