Alot of Differences in Controlled Environment versus Real World Conditions!

Not a Browning Fan!

Unless it says MADE IN USA or Belgium on it!

Hey justr!

We've got a Couple of Inline SmokePoles that haven't had any work at all done to them that will shoot 3 group shots at 100 yards with all 3 holes touching each other!

Yes it did cost some $$$ to fine Tune the Load!

But the Gun does it's Job when you do yours!

I Did watch the Whole Thing!

I'm Just sayin..............!

They're Braggin their MOA up at a 100 Yards!

Their Guns Shoot Nice!

But just look at the Difference between 2 different Shooters!

When You Think You can OutGuess Wind & Real World Conditions let me know!

I Like what the Guy said in the beginning of the Video!

I like to get as Close as I can without Spooking the Animal,AKA Hunting,Not just Shooting!

And I Agree with Him justr!

Most Guns will Out Shoot the Guy Holding/Shooting the Gun!

In the Guns I Own I Only have one Exception to that Rule!

And it Has Browning Stamped on it!

I have heard go things about the new Browning?s. I have shot Browning?s my entire life. My dad like Browning?s and Leupold scopes. I would get a gun for most of my birthdays . Still have my Bar 30 06 with a Leupold 3 x 9 scope I got for my 15th birthday. Yes Bessy made in Belgium. Factory guns are getting better and better .

Ya!

They gotta get better to compete!

We've seen Savage & CVA & others get better in recent years!

I like to hunt also, get as close as I can. I just thought it brought up some good points to factory vs custom and what a factory rifle will actually do in the right hands.

I like browning, but don't own one. My brother and dad have a few though.

I Hear You justr!

I Only Have one Gun I've ever HATED!

It Has B all over it!

I Don't Think they're any different than Trucks!

You could get a Lemon in any Brand!

This Particular Gun has been in to a few Gun Smiths & None of them have ever Fixed it!

I Always wanted a BAR like BIGJOHN's has when I was Younger but never did Buy one!

I Just Hate it when you see American Companies having parts/Pieces/Guns built in other Countries claiming they have to stay competitive!

Charge me a few Dollars more, keep the USA Stamp on it.keep the Quality up and I'll be Glad to pay a little more for it!

My dad packed a bar 30-06 for years and years and still says it's his favorite gun. My brother and I peer pressured him into mags and he picked up a Remington 700 300saum and it shot well, but he couldn't get used to the rifle differences. after a couple missed animals (dad doesn't miss often) he bought a 7 mag bar and loves it and he just picked up a 300 win and loves it! Back to when dad shoots something dies!

Kawboy has a 300 win a bolt medallion with an octagon barrel and he's killed quite a few animals with that gun and it is a shooter!

I've always gone with Remington, until quality went way down in recent years. I picked up a sako finnlight 270wsm on a steal of a deal and love it! I bought another in 7 mag and love it! The reason im looking at browning is the x bolt hells canyon seems very similar to the sako but about 500 cheaper so I think im going to buy one in 28 nosler. (I've been buying brass and have a little saved up). I want a hunting rifle, one that is light enough to pack and hunt with. Still try to get close but if the situation happens I need to make a longer shot then I will be practiced up and ready to know exactly what hair the bullet will hit. Im seriously looking at the nightforce 5-20x56 Shv to put on top of it. Seems to be the best I've found for the money so far anyways.

Got an A bolt 06' Xmas present when I was 16. Put a Leupold 3x9 on it that year. Never used anything else, 29yrs of hunting it.

I have boys. Told them they can use my 7mm-08 to start but at 16 I will get them a nice hunting rig.

My oldest, 13, is in love with hells canyon. My only worry, 10 years down the road will that camo still look good, or will it be like bellbottoms, and platform shoes?

justr, why would you get a rifle that is light for packing around and put a tank of a scope on it? mtmuley

What other scopes are around the same power with the long range capabilities for the $1299 or better price?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-09-18 AT 05:42PM (MST)[p]justr,
Here's my thoughts:
I've used factory rifles all my life with great success, out to 400 yds, which has pretty much been my self-imposed range limit. Several (mostly Rugers) shot under 1 MOA and all, given the right ammo and adjustments, were MOA rifles. But from the get-go, I have "rolled my own" ammo and made bedding and trigger adjustments to get my factory rigs to perform up to their potential. (and despite what the video states, custom rifles shoot factory ammo just fine!)

Several years ago, I was given a Browning A bolt in a 300 WSM which I used to kill 3 of my 4 sheep and another Browning X bolt 270 WSM took my only true "Book" Muley. Again all under 400 yds. I like my Brownings, but they both required some serious trigger work for me to be able to shoot them well. (customized???) I share that expressing serious affection for "out of the box" hunting rifles, as long as I can tinker with them and their medicine.

Two years ago, however, a good friend (MMer) put together a "custom" rifle for me for my last sheep hunt. It shoots a half MOA and I feel confident in shooting it out to 800 yds. That half inch means nothing at 400 yds in hunting conditions, but it might make the difference at twice that range. The custom barrel and trigger may not be needed, but IF I was ever forced to, I know with confidence, I could stretch my limit.

My custom rifle is the closest thing I will ever get to owning a Ferrari!

I20 power is way overkill. How far you plan on shooting? I can't think of a time I've ever needed that kind of magnification. mtmuley

I own many A-bolts and 2 X-bolts, along with Rugers, Savages, Remingtons, and one full custom. My X-bolt 28N shoots better than all but one of my rifles, (the other being an A-bolt 22 Hornet if you can believe that!), easy honest 1/2 minute gun with very little load development.

I don't think a guy can buy a better rifle for the money than an X-bolt, especially since Remingtons QC has gone down that last decade.

Mt muley, a goal i have set for myself that I want to consistently be able to hit a milk jug at 1000. Many people can and do but hey we all start somewhere right? I don't have any intention on shooting at an animal past 800 even then I can most likely hunt and get closer. Out to 500 I'm comfortable shooting in the right conditions without dialing because I know my rifles well. But I want to step it up.

I ordered a .264 mag M70 in 1965 from a neighbor where I grew up in NJ who worked and eventually became CEO of Stoegers. It's been in many parts of the world and has been my go-to rifle ever since I bought it. And at one time in the 70s, I owned about large cal. 20 rifles at the same time. In fact, one was a Belgium BAR in 300 WM, and I also had a German-made Weatherby in .270 Wea.mag. Now I'm down to just two -- the .264 and a custom M700 in 300 WM built by Robar, Inc.

If you asked me for an accurate count of the game it's made bleed, I couldn't give you one. A rough count would include several dozen deer (mule, Coues/Canadian/eastern/Texas White-tails and CA blacktail), at least 20-25 javelina, about 8 elk, three black bears, 3 caribou species, 7 pronghorn, a Canada moose, tahr/ stag/chamois/Aripawa ram from New Zealand, 12 critters in S. Africa and few exotic species at various locations. The last thing it penetrated was my desert ram several years back -- the last time I hunted anything.

I ended up with the vx3i 4.5-14x50 that was marked way down. If it's not enough scope it's nice enough to move to another one of my rifles and get a different one for this gun.

Now just waiting on rings and bases, they didn't have anything in stock.

Chinese Leupold fakes are getting pretty realistic, so far from what I've seen, the fakes have the gold ring, but don't have the actual model engraved in the gold like the real ones.

Hey justr, make sure ya post some accuracy results and your quest for 1000 yd consistency?

Does anybody know the magazine length for shooting heavy for caliber bullets? I've thought about a long range model in 300wm shooting 215?s

Just got home. Factory loaded ammo from nosler 175grn accubond lr. I'll definitely be reloading ammo but this is setting the bar pretty high to match but I'm hoping to beat it.

5245985742.jpeg

I caved and spend more for the carbon fiber pro long range. 7.93lbs as pictured with 3 in the magazine.

That's Close Enough for any Book Cliffs PISSCUTTER at 25 Yards out the Truck Window!

Lol it was out the truck window, not from a bench!

Maybe I won't improve on it, hopefully match it. That particular load was $90....

Justr that is a sweet rig!! One thing you learn quick when loading for a 28 is buy brass when you see it! It tends to disappear for long periods of time.

The mag will feed up to 3.6", should be just enough for 215's in a 300.

justr,
That's an awfully impressive group and as good as any I've produced with my "custom" 28.
As 257Tony notes, I've also struggled to find brass, so hang on to yours. Glad you found what you were looking for.
A rifle that produces like that is worth every penny you spent.

Lol maybe I did, maybe I didn't! You'll never know!

Id like to be shooting 160-168 grain bullets. But so far it likes the 175s ok. I now have 2 other loads to try out and at the very least I have the brass and a good direction to go when I start loading for it.

4b1db2ac644136c4.jpg

I think you're right Tony but I'm going to try them. Like I said im just kinda buying what I can get my hands on to get brass.
