I haven't heard much in quite a while about these guys. Does anybody still subscribe and use Huntin Fool? Is it worth it? Any better alternatives out there?

I switched to Epic because I really don't care about hunting in Africa or other exotic location which is what Huntin Fool expanded into. Since I apply for multiple states and species the $100 a year for epic is worth it to me.

I subscribed to both last year to decide which was best. flip a coin there's really no difference in content.

I stayed with the HF mainly because I liked how they laid out their information better. maybe it's just because I'm used to their format I don't know.

Most of the recommendations from both of them is generic and questionable. but it's keeping me up to date on changes and drawing information that's easily worth the $100 to me.

i would go with huntinfool because they r pushing more opportunity hunts. otc and general licenses r getting more attention. if u dont draw a good tag u can look for other opportunity type hunts.

I was with HF but I've also switched to Epic. I know Jason and Adam, and I trust the info I get from those guys. They are straight shooters in my book. As stated above much of the info is pretty general, because they can't start pinpointing specifics, but they get pretty detailed in some of their pod-casts. It is definitely worth the $100. If you decide to subscribe, let me recommend you for a chance to win a hunt! :)

I have been a member of both. But I think Epic owner are hardcore hunters. The Bronson brothers and Jason Carter are stand up people. Better hunt information . I know they do give always. But it seems like Hunting fool is just about the raffles. But I do like Huntin Fool application service guide they send out. I haven't seen one from Epic. It's just a nice quick reference. But if you are a true hunting fool. It seems like the more information the better. When you add up all the money we spend on hunting. What's another 100 bucks. Especially if you go hunting in a lot of different states.

Just get both. If you had to pick one, I would probably pick Epic. More focused on type of hunting I do.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-18 AT 07:03PM (MST)[p]Can't imagine paying for hunt info. Especially when thousands of other guys get the info also. Whatever. mtmuley

Epic for sure! I was a member of HF from the start but dropped them this year. Epic guys have much more knowledge and you can call them and they will help you. great guys!

the name is still appropriate....

I have been with Huntin Fool for about 10 years. I liked it better when the only covered the western states. But I still like it.
I usually avoid there top picks because of the draw odds but any info they have shared with me has been right on when I hunt that unit.
I try to hunt 4 states but there is no way to have the knowledge of the area and animals for every tag you put in for. I really think the best part of being a member is the member draw list they will send you if you draw a tag. I have met some real nice guys willing to share what they learned on there hunts. I have saved a ton of gas money not scouting in parts of a unit with no animals. Just by going off the info the guys are willing to share.
Don't get me wrong, those scouting trips out in the middle of no where are usually may favorite part of the hunt.

I have all my past subscriptions so rather than join, I will sell you mine. Trust me, the info doesn't change, just add one point for point creep each year.

Not to sound negative, but it is true.

Their is a 3rd option...

If you subscribe to Brian Latturner for $500 a year you get to pick from custom inventory of pictures and GPS cordinates for monster bucks. ;)

I have been with Huntin Fool for about 10 years and I think I am going to try goHUNT. Newberg has been promoting it on you tube and I like what he has been showing.

I also switched to Epic- the Huntin Fool in my opinion became a revolving door for young guys wanting to make a living in the hunting world. I enjoy talking with Adom Bronson and he knows what I am looking for in my hunts, but as someone else said the guys who have their head in the game are right here on MM

I've been a member of Huntin Fool for several years now. The number one reason I take the magazine is for the Member Draw List. I've saved lots of time by talking to members who've drawn the same tags previously and have made some lifelong friends with a few guys.

I don't think Epic has nearly the draw data base just due to the fact that they haven't been in business as long. Yes, I know the Epic guys came from Huntin Fool. Give Epic a few more years and the member draw list from them will be great as well. I just might have to give Epic a try in the near future.

I've made a few calls in to Huntin Fool over the last few years and they have always been very helpful. One thing is for sure, both magazines can severely effect draw odds for hunts depending on their write ups.
