I've seen some of the other successes posted on here, and although this won't come close to them (especially Blank's HAC...what a hunting machine!!), it was a fairly successful year for me. I was successful with crossbow, muzzle loader, rifle, and got my first wild pig!
First thing was an upgrade to my 1997 Honda ATV. To a new 2017 Rubicon.
Turkey season started out as a whiff on an eastern gobbler. A range session showed the same shells I was shooting weren't putting the 90 pellets in the 10" circle anymore. A couple of different loads and a range session resulted in this Nebraska Merriam's. My buddy Greg and Rick were also successful.
Christened my new-to-me crossbow on a slick head during archery season.
Opening weekend of ML season brought down my first wild pig. Perfect eating size! And strapped down on my new ATV!
A draw/population control hunt on DOE land brought this whitetail with my ML.
My friend Cameron got his first buck on the same DOE hunt.
And gun season brought this public land 9. Pretty place. Tough to get one out of!
Also saw lots of bear sign in the area. But, no season.
Deer season closes on Sunday, so we'll give it one more try. Deer or pig, won't matter to me!
Hoping 2019 is just as good! (With no whiffs!)
