Okydoky folks I thought I would share this for your reading pleasure. This is how YOU are being demonized.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/californ...rs-after-preying-on-sheep-sparks-fiery-debate

Notice how a rancher that shoots an animal eating livestock is immediately identified as a "hunter" although there is no season or tag for lions in the state.

Second notice how the bunnyhugger claims the lion was more valuable than the lost livestock. They are doing that to combat the claim that hunting gives wildlife value so that wildlife is then protected. They are loosing the argument over what has more value hunted wildlife or non-hunted wildlife so they are repeating these lies. Can anyone name a single person that has ever paid money to go to California on a mountain lion viewing trip?

The fact is this. The mountain lions in California hold no measurable fiscal value to Californians. They hold a value to a very small segment of society which either gets grant money to study them or uses them as pawns in a lobby and lawsuit enterprise scheme.

What would they do if we wrote articles the way they do? Lets take this quote from the article for instance.

"Quinton Martins, a big cat expert who runs the Living with Lions program, stressed the importance of educating landowners about the value of mountain lions and encouraging them to keep their properties secure during the cats' prime hunting hours."

Lets re-write that so everyone can get the picture to this.

"Quinton Martins, a gay rich guy that doesn't have to work his butt off everyday to feed a family like this rancher, and a big cat expert who runs the Living with Lions program, stressed the importance of educating landowners about the value of mountain lions and encouraging them to keep their properties secure during the cats' prime hunting hours, because Martins' rich ass isn't going to reimburse some broke Mexican for a problem his self-righteous agenda caused."

There. I like my version better.

Isn't California seceding from the Union? Hasn't that happened yet? If not, why not? We need to expedite that process.

There should be a question on every California Income Tax form that asks:

"Do you support full protection of Mountain lions in the State of California?"

If you answer "yes", you will be assessed a $100 tax and that money will go toward losses to ranchers and other management costs. There are no free rides.

That's the best idea in years. Someone should propose that. :D

And you should protect your sheep by sleeping with them.

Regarding the killing of the cat in Napa, one article states that there are strong populations in California and the other claims that populations are dwindling. Which is it!? IMO, there is definitely not a shortage of cats. I live in Napa county and work in Lake county. In the past year or so, I've personally seen 2 cats and have coworkers that have seen a total of 6 other cats in a 30 square mile area.

Excerpt from Fox News article

"Mountain lions are classified as a "specially protected species," making hunting the big cats illegal; however, there are strong populations of the big cats in The Golden State, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW). More than half of the state is "mountain lion habitat," the California DFW says."

Excerpt from Santa Rosa Press Democrat

"Martins and other conservationists say the onus is on those who own domestic animals to keep them properly enclosed and secured, especially between dusk and dawn, when mountain lions do most of their hunting, given the importance of preserving dwindling numbers of cougars, the apex predator in the region, and maintaining ecological balance of some kind."

No I don't have any sheep but the way you keep talking about them doesn't sound like sheep would be safe within 20 mile radius with you around

LOL! I didn't mean you or me personally. The State of California wants more responsible sheep owners.

More cost effective for the state to let them eat sheep ....... instead of their high dollar deer herd ! Nobody cares about the little guy trying to make a living anymore , and I'm no sheep fan at all !
