Is this the best of the best%3F I know it is the most expensive right now. I was also told to look at a Zeiss 20-60 85 mm.I never looked through a Zeiss before. Are they comparable to quality of Swarovski%3F Any help would be great%21 Is there a brand A LITTLE cheaper that is about as good%3F Is the straight or angled lens better and what is the difference%3FHow does the Leupold compare to these two brands%3F 1|1|RE%3A Help with spotting scope. PLEASE HELP%21|peakfreak||19:15:09|09/11/2006|I have the Leica Televid 77 and love it. I would for sure get the angled lens. It makes it nice to video through. I dont like videoing through the Zeiss %2C but other than that it%27s awesome. I would go with the Swaro or the 77 angled. 3|3|RE%3A Help with spotting scope. I had a ATS 65 at first but the low light spoting was not very good I thought. the angle head is great for looking up hill and on the level but I hated it for looking down hill so I went back to the strait style but there%27s pro%27s and con%27s for both it%27s just your preference. the Leica 77 is a great scope but a little longer and wieghs a little more. oh and the HD is more of a color thing for bird watchers I%27m told %2C I couldn%27t see the price difference myself. 5|5|RE%3A Help with spotting scope. Compare them in low light and also bright light.%0D%0A%0D%0AHaving said that%2C I own the swaro 80%2C angled. Personally%2C I don%27t think the HD is worth the extra%24%24%24. But of course%2C to each their own.%0D%0A%0D%0AGood luck. 6|3|RE%3A Help with spotting scope. PLEASE HELP%21|DeadeyeProductions||21:56:42|09/11/2006|I%27ve personally used all three at the same time side by side. Myself and two other guys found that the Ziess 85 was better in low light then the other two but thats to be expected because its 85mm compaired to 80mm and 77mm. This also made it the bigger scope of the three. But during mid-day it was hard to see the difference in the light gathering capabilites between the 3. The Ziess edge to edge clarity was not as good as the other two scopes. For me this wasen%27t a bad thing because I never look at the outer most edge on the scope anyways. But in the center of the objective we all three agreed that the Ziess was the clearest. %0D%0A%0D%0AAs far as angled eyepieces I never could get use to them but thats just my preference. I don%27t video through a scope but if you do alot of that then it seems angled is the way to go. It also seems that more people prefer the angled over the strait. I like the focus on the Ziess the best but the other two guy prefered the Swaro%27s focus ring better once agian this is a personal preference thing. %0D%0A%0D%0AOur conclusion was that all three scopes are top notch and any would be a good choice. All three have their own advantages. If size wasen%27t an issue and taking video through the scope wasen%27t that important either then the Ziess is the one we liked the best especialy if you do alot of low light glassing at long distance like we do in Az hunting coues. The Swaro is all around a great scope not as good in low light as Ziess but better edge to edge. If size is an issue and you want a smaller scope then the Leica is the way to go. %0D%0A%0D%0AIts very hard to tell the difference between the 3 and for the average hunter there might not be any diference at all besides size%2C shape and ergonomics. But for me after 2 days of useing all three side by side I found myself continualy asking for the Ziess scope over the other two. This is just my personal opinion I%27m sure there are plenty of guys who would disagree. %0D%0A%0D%0AIf you can test all three do it out in the hills in hunting situations that you would find yourself in the most. Hunting conditions are not always the same for everyone. I mainly hunt coues deer in fairly open country and glass all day at very long distances so my hunting conditions are going to be different then an elk hunters glassing the thick forests of Colorado. %0D%0A%0D%0AAs far as the leupold I%27ve only used the goldring. Its a good scope but its in a different class but a great scope for the money. I do like the 12 power on the goldring its one of the only good scopes that I could find that goes down this low. most other scopes don%27t go lower than 15x. But I don%27t like the focus on this scope. I%27ve also heard good this about Nikon fieldscopes but I haven%27t had the chance to use one yet. Hope this helped. 7|4|RE%3A Help with spotting scope.
